The scene plays out like a bad dream.
A bride is trying to make her way to the altar, but she keeps encountering obstacles. She trips over cans tied to the back of a car; a flower girl tries to block her way; a wedding guest trips her with a cane. Finally, after the groom is restrained from going to the bride's aid, words come up on the screen: "What if you couldn't marry the person you love?"
The 60-second commercial, which is now airing on cable television statewide, might look like an early salvo in the campaign to defeat Proposition 8, the November ballot initiative that would prevent gays and lesbians from marrying in California. But according to its producers, the television spot is not about getting votes in the election. They say that the nonprofit corporation that put up millions of dollars to air it is simply trying to encourage tolerance of same-sex marriage.

This ad reminds of the film FINAL DESTINATION...In that film, people die from all kinds of causes. In this ad, she is prevented from marrying by all kinds of causes...
At least, FINAL DESTINATION number one was somewhat intertaining...
Adulterers are prohibited from marrying the people they love.
So are polygamists.
So are incestuous couples.
So are certain May-September romances.
If “everyone” should be able to marry whomever they choose, these obstacles would come down.
This is just about ONE specific demographic who have NEVER been entitled to “marriages” in the history of the world until modern day post-hippie socialism ran its course.
I generally agree with your post, but one thing stuck out to me.
Can you explain what you mean by “certain May-September romances?” I can’t think of any situation where a May-September couple would be barred from marrying. What does age have to do with marriage?
this is why a line needs to be drawn inthe sand so to speak.
So when these libs, perverted and some libertarians say no laws are needed then we will have chaos associated with marriage
when I hear a homosexual saying about civil rights, private business, not doing me any harm, er what else ah yes how does it affect me, any more????
I tell them all those arguments can be used with those groups you have just mentioned.
The other argument they say is about interracial marriage
well we still have a man and a woman with that and a man and a woman in nature can reproduce as nature intended, .
It is up to us to use these points against their indefensible twisted views.
The media, Hallmark ,Ford Mcdonalds, American airlines will not.
but ever notice how those companies say proud sponsor on the perverted websites and yet do not mention it to the general public or they do not use the same commercials as they do for homo’s.
mmmm wonder why not, ah yes because if the American people saw these commercials or saw what these perverted people do on their parades then these companies would go down quick
Then why aren't they honest enough to put two dudes or two dykes in the commercial's senario? You know why. It would be as repulsive as every sane person deep-down knows it is. It is disingenuous at best to imply that two adults of the opposite sex somehow can't marry because of the laws that are in place in most of America, including California before the court invented legislation against the will of the people.
Make an identical commercial, only using actors dressed exactly like what one would find at a typical San Francisco "Gay Pride" parade. Down to the smallest detail.
Using their own words, the results would be devastating.
What are the chances?
I think if my suggestion in post #6 were actually implemented, it would answer your question...
I don't think they would even need to go that far. Just a same-sex couple would elicit the same response from the public - revulsion.
