Biden: Petraeus ‘Dead Flat Wrong’ on Iraq
MSNBC ^ | 23 August 2008 | Meet The Press

Posted on 08/23/2008 6:50:10 PM PDT by Terrence DoGood

I mean, the truth of the matter is that, that the—America’s—this administration’s policy and the surge are a failure, and that the surge, which was supposed to stop sectarian violence and—long enough to give political reconciliation, there’s been no political reconciliation. The reality is that we’re supposed to, as you said, stand up American—or stand up the Iraqis so the Americans could stand down. We’ve been hearing that for five years. We’re nowhere near being able to do that.

The reality is that, although there has been some mild progress on the security front, there is, in fact, no, no real security in Baghdad and/or in Anbar province, where I was, dealing with the most serious problem, sectarian violence. Sectarian violence is as strong and as solid and as serious a problem as it was before the surge started.

He said this back in September 2007.

So his most recent judgment on military policy was wrong.

The NEW YORK TIMES even said the surge has worked. (Yeah, last week. But they were busy covering Edward’s subterfuges before that.)

Terrence, I have the feeling this will be fun.

Blatant overt lying.

Actually, this interview is from September of 2007, so it's more an example of blatant, overt stupidity on Biden's part. Like so many Democrats, he was incredibly, stupidly wrong on the surge, and it's on the record.

In the "Wizard of D.C," isn't the following true.

Wasn't Biden the scarecrow singing "If I Only Had A Brain"?

And Obama was the lion singing "I Want To Be King Of The Forest".

You can fill in the other actors and roles.

Hmmmmm where did that come from, and where were you? Al Anbar Province...aka the SUNNI Triangle has hardly any Shia’ if any at all. Unless they’ve came BACK... which wouldn’t that mean things have gotten better if Shia’ can come back to the SUNNI TRIANGLE? Furthermore.....

I’ve been deployed to Iraq 4 times in the last five years (having just left in spring of ‘08... and it is NIGHT and DAY difference compared to ‘04 and ‘06.

I can’t comment on the Army’s AO, because I haven’t been there, but I haven’t been hearing much from there either.

I’m raisin the BS Flag!

this administration’s policy and the surge are a failure

Wishing the surge to be a failure won't make it so, Joe. And make no mistake, B-HO/Biden and nearly every Rat pol not only root hard for U.S. failure in Iraq and in the WOT in general, but they work tirelessly toward that end.

-- he was incredibly, stupidly wrong on the surge, and it's on the record --

Predicting the future has a way of coming out "wrong."

I think Biden is a fool, but circumstances in Iraq remain fluid - looking out a generation or two. And at this point, we still don't have a SOFA or equivalent; and as far as I know, the US won't relent on holding Iraq to be a "rogue" nation as a UN formality, as a lever to get better terms on a SOFA.

I don't know how it will all come out - not that I'm averse to making predictions, just that my skill at prediction sucks.

I read the link, Biden thinks he is too smart.

I've encountered some of those. They have in common the need to talk non-stop. Because if they stop talking, someone will catch on. Or ask a question.

Biden and Obama are a pair of dunces. Neither one has ever done anything. And they know precious little. About anything.

Congressional Record Sen. Joseph Biden, January 23, 2003

But inspectors have had a hard time getting truthful information from the Iraqis they interview. Saddam Hussein terrorizes his people, including his weapons scientists, so effectively that they are afraid to be interviewed in private, let alone outside the country. They know that even the appearance of cooperation could be a death sentence for themselves or their families.

To overcome this obstacle, and to discover and dismantle Saddam Hussein's weapons of mass destruction, UNMOVIC and the IAEA must interview relevant persons securely and with their families protected, even if they protest publicly against this treatment. Hans Blix may dislike running "a defection agency," but that could be the only way to obtain truthful information about Saddam's weapons of mass destruction. -Sen. Joseph Biden

Hey Mr Silverback, what exactly is a “Biden?”

Here in New Zealand we think it’s a cross between a “Midden” and a “Bidet” — you know, maybe its some new American personal hygiene contraption specially designed for dispensing with large piles of crap.

So Obama has got one of these “Biden” things for his campaign? What’s up with that? I wonder how much one of those cost?

Well, the biden is a particularly strange animal, actually, even stranger than those platypus thingees y’all have down there in that general area. It’s mouth is always open and it is very committed to staying in one habitat (say, the Senate) for 35 years or more.

Biden voted for the war - and then was dead wrong on the Surge - so in Obama’s view he can no longer attack McCain on the War vote, and the whole Dem ticket would have made a terrible strategic blunder by not carrying out the Surge. The wrong people for the job. Sorry.

Isn't it curious that the more liberal the politician, the more arrogant they are with regard to intelligence?

This is especially true of extremely liberal politicians in safe districts.
