N Korea 'develops special noodle'
North Korean scientists have developed a new kind of noodle that delays feelings of hunger, a Japan-based pro-Pyongyang newspaper has reported.
The noodles were made from corn and soybeans, the Choson Shinbo said.
They left people feeling fuller longer and represented a technological breakthrough, the newspaper said.
North Korea is dependent on foreign food aid. Last month the UN warned that residents were experiencing their worst food shortages in a decade.
But the communist country remains reluctant to allow experts to fully assess the scale of the problem or give them adequate access to deliver aid.

Soylent Green
What’s the percentage of cardboard in those noodles?
The noodle is made of cement.
I’m sure the Obama administration would license this technology. He’s already told us we cannot go on eating as many calories as we want because the “world” will hate us if we do. So this is the perfect solution — forced calorie reductions for all Americans, but you get to eat the noodle that makes you feel full.
All totalitarians think alike.
“By the way, what did they do with all those giant rabbits from Germany?”
They made nice stew for rotund leader and his friends
However, they do have the smallest carbon footprint in the world.
George: I’ll tell you what. Why don’t we just get a couple of dishes and we’ll just share ‘em.
Kramer: Okay. What are you getting?
George: I’m gonna get a Chow Fung.
Kramer: What’s a Chow Fung?
George: It’s a broad noodle.
Kramer: What do you mean, a broad noodle?
George: It’s a big flat noodle.
Kramer: Well I don’t want a big flat noodle.
George: What kind of noodle do you want?
Kramer: Who says I want a noodle?

Ahhh, the glories of Communism. There are those who would have us experience those “glories” here.
Hey, that’s exactly the machine I have!

So they will feel full as they are starving?
Betcha you could sell that baby on NK-EBay for a goodly sum. You lucky devil.
..corn and soybeans...
Full grain including husks and a modicum of sawdust
*sigh* yeah.
Kinder, gentler communism.
The sort of Hope and Change we all need.
Psssttt...Dear Leader Chia .....the ChiComs took dog off the menu for the Olympics...supply up demand down. Nows the time for a good deal on woof woof meat imports. Plenty of ‘Rats to BBQ as well that make good entrees with the kim chee.

Nah. All you need is a big stick. Now if they only had some corn and soybeans.....
Typical Commie solution.

That’s the purpose of pasta cooked ‘al dente.’ The less cooked part expands and dissolves after the more cooked part.
Think about what this really means. We know how bad the food shortages have been before (eating grass). If this is the *worst* then these poor people are suffering to a degree which I think very few of us can comprehend.
Maybe someone should ask BO how he explains the successful redistribution of wealth in North Korea.
“The noodles were made from corn and soybeans”
I’m still trying to wake up and on first read I saw “coal and soybeans”, which made perfect sense, being North Korea.
Not another Clinton/Monica story.
no need for Jenny Craig over there
HASENPFEFFER (PEPPERY RABBIT STEW)
1 (3 lb.) rabbit, cleaned, dressed & disjointed
1/4 tsp. peppercorns
1/4 tsp. mustard seeds
3 bay leaves
4 cloves
1 lg. onion, sliced thin
1 c. water
1/2 c. plus 2 tbsp. unsifted flour
1/4 c. butter
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. dry red wine or water
1 tsp. sugar
Place rabbit in deep bowl. Tie spices and bay leaves in cheesecloth and simmer; covered, with vinegar and onion for 5 minutes. Pour over rabbit; cover, and refrigerate 1-2 days, turning rabbit occasionally. Lift rabbit from marinade (do not dry) and dredge in 1/2 cup flour; brown in butter in heavy skillet.
Transfer to 3 quart kettle. Brown remaining flour in drippings; strain marinade, add and heat, stirring until thickened. Pour over rabbit, add onion and cheesecloth bag, also remaining ingredients cover and simmer 1-1 1/2 hours until rabbit is tender. Check liquid level occasionally, adding water if mixture thickens too much.
If I didn’t know this was hasenpfeffer I’d swear it was carrots...
Hungry again 45 minutes later, not 30.
North Korean scientists have developed a new kind of poodle that delays feelings of hunger, a Japan-based pro-Pyongyang newspaper has reported.
The poodles were fed corn and soybeans, the Choson Shinbo said.
They left people feeling fuller longer and represented a technological breakthrough, the newspaper said.

But the communist country remains reluctant to allow experts to fully assess the scale of the problem or give them adequate access to deliver aid.
Above, please find the corrected BBC story.
I hope yours has a handle.
I hate to rain on North Korea’s parade, but the “special noodle” they’ve developed is what we commonly refer to as “a tapeworm”.
I suspect the word “indigestable” enters into this story somewhere.
Hmmmm. Just like here.
Now that I'm retired, I eat a LOT less than when I was a teenager, and even less than during my working years.
As for "scavenging for wild foods", I would have to admit to annually putting venison & wild turkeys in the freezer; and picking mushrooms & wild/feral chokecherries, currants, gooseberries, apples, crabapples, plums, and rhubarb every year. The wild asparagus is too thin & stringy to bother with.
Should I count trout in the mix, I wonder?
I sure hope the misguided hold-outs and stay-at-homes don't hand Obama the election, otherwise the variety and calorie count, as well as the energy cost to preserve & cook the largess will adversely change.
ONE Carter administration was one too many; I don't need Carter Redux.
OMGG this too funny for material
What next giant rabbits they breeding in Germany LOL!
Or the Michael Phelps noodle because there's no end to it either.
I’ll bet the taste is similar too.
LOL, I was born in Texas, we ate leftover cornbread, in a bowl of milk...........it is very filling.
It is still one of my favorite dishes.
