A former Moon Area High School health and gym teacher who had sex with a freshman and sent him nude pictures of herself continued to contact the student even after police arrested her, a prosecutor said Wednesday.
Beth Ann Chester, 27, of Scott was sentenced to 1 1/2 to 3 years in jail in a deal with prosecutors for pleading guilty to three charges stemming from the romantic relationship she had with the then-14-year-old boy.
"I wanted to apologize to everyone," Chester told Common Pleas Judge David R. Cashman. "I know this is the punishment I deserve. I'm really sorry for everything."
Deputy District Attorney Laura Ditka said the boy's family probably would have wanted a shorter sentence if Chester had not continued to contact the boy after her arrest.

What's the typical plea bargin sentence if a male teacher is having sex with a 14 year old female student and sending her naked pictures of himself? A lot more than 3 years I'd bet.

I would have found her not guilty at 14.

Why is it that when a woman has sex with a boy it is a romantic relationship but when a man has sex with a girl it is sexual abuse? I am so tired of the double standard. She deserves much more than what she got especially since she was in authority over him as his teacher.

It’s part of the old double standard about sex. The thinking here is that any teen age boy would love to have sex with any female. And the thinking is that any woman having sex with any man or boy, has sex as part of a romantic relationship. Otherwise you have to just call her a slut.
It’s part of the old ideas that women don’t have sex desires, that they only comply to please their husbands, and definitely wouldn’t be interested in a sex relationship unless it’s part of a romance.
And, the thinking about men teachers and girl students is that teen girls don’t have sex desires, so according to that thinking, there’s no way any man could have sex with her unless it was an abusive or force situation.
And overall, the thinking is that the girls involved with a man teacher are psychologically damaged because her innoncence has been taken by a man who took advantage of her being naive about those things. But the boys with a woman teacher are not considered to be damaged at all, because the boys are more likely to be an eager participant.
I agree that “The Stand” was King’s best work. I voraciously read everything he wrote until about 1990. It was dog poop after that.
It is up to clear and convincing at this point. When it gets to beyaond a reasonable doubt...........need more evidence to get there.
I think the last book of his that I read was “The Dark Half.” There are better authors and better actors out there now.
That skank had better cop a plea..........if only she could be put in a real cell with the Rosie beast.
Fact of the matter is that I would have found just about any female teacher not guilty when I was 14.
