US draws down forces as Iraqis stand up security forces

The US plan to draw down forces in Iraq was anounced by General Petraeus in September 2007 briefing to Congress. The drawdown schedule is based on the Iraqi forces taking over responsibility for security.

I have seen the Democrats spinning this two different ways:
1) pulling the plug on a hopeless war, and

2) following Obama’s plan for a pull out.
So which is it?

They just never will admit the the Surge has accomplished its task, and that now we can start developing a plan for troop withdrawal as the Iraqi troops take our place. The plan all along. And our troops can come home, Mission Accomplished, Heroes.

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - A draft agreement between the United States and Iraq contains no fixed dates for U.S. forces to withdraw, but Iraq would like combat troops out by the end of 2011, government spokesman Ali al-Dabbagh said on Thursday.

“The draft does not contain definite dates,” Dabbagh said.

Like I said before, ignore the spin, the details of the plan are still the same they were when General Petraeus briefed the Senate on 11 September 2007...
