McCain 2008 Announces Sportsmen For McCain Leadership
Governors Pawlenty, Keating to Serve as National Co-Chairs
ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA -- U.S. Senator John McCain's presidential campaign has announced the National Steering Committee of the Sportsmen for McCain coalition. These leaders in the angling, hunting and shooting communities are working across the country to emphasize John McCain's dedication to protecting Americans' right to gun ownership and his commitment to preserving and promoting our hunting, angling and shooting traditions.
John McCain said, "I am proud to have the support of these national and state leaders within the sportsmen's community and know that their support is integral to my bid to become your next president. It would be an honor to serve as your president and carry on the guiding principles of Theodore Roosevelt, America's foremost conservation president."
"John McCain has been a leader and a friend to sportsmen and gun owners for over 25 years," said National Sportsmen for McCain Co-Chair Governor Tim Pawlenty. "Sportsmen should know John McCain understands our community and will fight to protect and promote the sportsmen's agenda." National Sportsmen for McCain Co-Chair, former Governor Frank Keating added, "While the choice for sportsmen is clear, we are going to continue to share that message with our friends at the range, on the lake and in the woods to ensure our fellow angler, conservationist, and friend John McCain is elected as our next president."

Ping.
Ping.
As long as they realize that being a Sportsman has nothing at all to do with the 2nd Amendment.
Boy am I getting old. I only know a couple of those folks.
I believe the vast majority of sportsmen are in favor of protecting the 2nd amendment, especially hunters. The article does point out John McCain’s dedication to protecting Americans’ right to gun ownership.
If you’d like to be on or off this Upper Midwest/outdoors/rural list please FR mail me. And ping me is you see articles of interest.
No Uncle Ted?
Good to see that the socialist jackasses at Trout Unlimited haven’t signed on. I’ve had several confrontations with these liberal big city watermelon fascists.
LOL. I mean REALLY LOL.
Tell us how you really feel, sgt. dave.
And I agree. They are very partisan now (used to be a great organiation, still have many good folks as members). They take every leftist side of every issue.
I was talking to one of many EX TU members today, and she had a close description, but not near as accurate and funny as yours!!
I tip my hat to you, you have a way with words.
He’ll probably appoint Ted as a diplomat to some big game hunting haven.
Then, again, he might make him Secretary of State (LOL).
“Then, again, he might make him Secretary of State (LOL).”
If I knew that now it would make voting McCain SO much easier.
Now, billhilly, you are not that old.
I figured you’d met and interacted with a few of these appointees (Keating) and can put your two cents worth in on this.
A sportsmans committee is nothing more than an endorsement of people with like interests. In this case it is fishing/hunting/gun ownership issues.
I have served on state committees for sportsmen support for gubernatorial races. Became really upset with one candidate I supported, once I found out the facts.
People with gun ownership, fishing, hunting issues they value are the first ones appointed.
And they represent a HUGE voting block in some races.
Heck, when I went to my Oklahoma reunion, I visited with a gal who went to my school. Her husband is running for a state office, and I told her these same issues (in rural OK) could be pivotal in who votes for who.
My childhood friend’s hubby is runnning for the Democratic seat in a big rural district in OK. I have advised her to rally the hunting/fishing license holder vote: you can have an instant direct mailing to them (you can buy the lists from most state WL agencies).
WHEW, Like I had to tell you this. I bet you know 300 more times about this than me!!!!
“WHEW, Like I had to tell you this. I bet you know 300 more times about this than me!!!!”
Well, I did play a role in establishing the Congressional Sportsmen’s Caucus, the largest caucus in the US Congress.
He says modestly!
