WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Iran's attempt to launch a dummy satellite into orbit was a "dramatic failure" that fell far short of the country's assertions of success, a U.S. official said on Tuesday

In 1957, our satellite program was bad, too. Twelve years later, an American walked on the moon.
Now, I’m not saying the Iranians can do that. But, the failure of their program today does not mean failure forever. They are an imperialist country, and very persistent about it. They aren’t going to give up.
Reminds me of the time North Korea launched one of their missiles and failed dramatically.
This is the same guy that claimed he could shoot down all our missiles right? What a joke.
I am withholding judgment until I see the Iranian fauxtography. So this conclusion is premature.
I’m sure Iran will photoshop a picture of a Apollo rocket launch with a desert background and call this a massive leap forward in their space program.
I predict they are going to implode under the pressure.
Oh, come on. I’m certain Iran has photoshopped proof of their successful launch!
We tended to address our shortcomings with intellectual honesty and a dose of realism. Besides (at that time) having access to finest engineers in the world.
I really doubt that you'll find anything in the Quran to fix whatever problems afflict their program.
Look out belowwwwwwwww!
What is Barry Obama willing to do along with current Democrats to now help the Iranians against us?
I recall the TV cameras rolled, capturing every failure we had back in the early days. How many Russians failures were never publicized ? How many Russians were lost but never mentioned ?
That is an awesome pic. Where did you get that? Is that anti-artillery fire? Or is it just art?
Now it's fifty years later. There are aerospace engineering programs and textbooks everywhere. Computers and software are cheap, plentiful, and powerful. Rocket and satellite technologies are available for purchase off-the-shelf. And still the Iranians suck. There's just gotta be a lesson here.
I recognize that one. The original image consists of four missiles going up - actually that was the original photoshopped image put out by Iran. There were only 3 rockets but the Iranian government photoshopped it and put out the image with four rockets. After they were ridiculed, they released the version with 3 rockets. This image is a very good and hilarious response!
Missed the obvious did you? The point isn't that they failed, the point is they lied about it. That is the point. Re-think and re-program and you might come up with some useful information from your own brain as to why it is important to point out their lies.
What? I'm quite sure I could build a delivery system on my own standing upon the broad shoulders of the many before me have done given the proper resources. It wouldn't be that hard since the knowledge and most of the equipment/software is readily available. A government that can't do this today is pathetic and stupid at least - especially one that already possesses ballistic missile technology. They're just plain incompetent.
B.S. WE are.
Given their rocket failures, one wonders what is going to happen with their nuclear program. An accident would cause a case of mixed emotions, like the old joke about watching your mother-in-law drive off a cliff in your new Cadillac.
I knew in my heart that someone would address that comment but bulled my way right to the Post screen. I reckon I ain’t as patient as I should be sometimes. See #20.

Same place as this:
I studied aerospace engineering in the late 1970s/early 1980s at one of America’s better University departments for that subject. There were a number of students from Iran in the program but I doubt any of them went back to join the “Islamic revolution” upon graduation.
In order to “stand on the shoulders of giants” one must recognize the giants and be free to stand as one will. I hope someday the people of Iran manage to throw off the yoke of Islamism and get down to the challenging but rewarding business of living their own lives as they see fit.
This one is the most realistic in my opinion /sarcasm...LMAO!
Aren’t satellites forbidden somewhere in the Koran as the Prophet likely believed the earth was flat?
The prophet banned them because he knew they could someday be used to capture photos of girls in bikinis on beaches in faraway lands, and that this would anger his followers.
Wow! That brings back memories! There is a public park in my old hometown. My dad would take me there to play on a rather large playground that included an exact copy of that “rocket”. I never knew if it was a sight-built original, or a production piece of playground equipment.
Thanks for the memories!!!!
