WASHINGTON Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama's position on space exploration continued to evolve Sunday as the Illinois Democrat endorsed a congressional plan to add $2 billion to NASA's budget and agreed to back at least one more space shuttle mission.

-John McCain
I’ll see your two billion for NASA and raise you royalty payments for offshore drilling...
By “evolve”, do you mean flip-flop, or lie ?
Probably..
MSM definition: Nuance for flip-flop
Good lets send him to uranus
Agreed.
If Florida was a solid red state worth four electoral votes, OBama would not have changed his original stance.
McCain also supports increasing funding for NASA by the same amount. And it is indeed needed.
We are at a very critical point, and national strategic needs are depending on sound decisions now.
I am sure I am not the only space exploration supporter that is a little surprised at how much NASA has been elevated during this election. Normally little ever comes up.
McCain has been on board the long term plans of NASA all along.
Obama only shifted recently after he won the nomination.
Maybe James Hansen has gotten to him and said that NASA needs the money to buy a bigger tape measurer to measure the “ozone hole.”
Okay, guess what? I want someone who has already evolved and knows what he stands for.
That is one of the reasons why I’m supporting John McCain.. Besides NASA only takes .5% of our national budget.

.."guy's got more flip-flops than a Chinese export company"

“I say it’s all/just wind in sails...”
My respect for Mr John “The Clean Marine” Glenn is gone. I hated him as a politician, now I just hate him..
This J.O. has absolutely no consistency. He says one thing today, then something contradictory tomorrow. Amazing
The worst part is McCain doesn’t call him out on it.
Both!
LLS
Ah, how easily he slips into a position that space advocates want to hear. Think how easily he’ll slip out of it when the next group requires their share of pandering.
Maybe uranus, but not mine....
To search for Farrakhan's mother ship?
"Considering Obama's shifting positions, he cannot be trusted to fully support NASA's mission to Mars," said the RNC's Conant. "The only thing Barack Obama knows about sending a man to the moon is that it's a good applause line."
But......but.....but......I “thought” obama was going to trash NASA to put lots of $$ into his personal/dem social agenda...
WTF ???
obama seems to be following the McCain program....but ONLY after obamas program has failed.... a Johnny come lately....like a duck on a string...
Evolving Obama now supports $2 billion more for NASAOf course he does. NASA is just another tax payer funded arm of the environmental movement.
...infinitely malleable is not a Presidential asset!
“Of course he does. NASA is just another tax payer funded arm of the environmental movement.”
I only agree with that to a very small extent.
NASA does so much more.
Hubble, Mars Rovers and landers, Space Station construction(human exploration), Saturn and Jupiter probes, Solar studies (yes that helps fight global warming whackos too) comet and asteroid studies (very important if we ever are in the crosshairs someday) aviation, On and on and on.
It’s important stuff.
The nations that lead on the frontiers, dictate the course of human history.
I only agree with that to a very small extent. What degree you agree with it is irrelevant. The fact they're involved at all is what the future of NASA really is.
Cut out their environmentalist goals and see how long the funding of the "NASA does so much more" lasts.NASA does so much more.
Be careful what you wish for.
I just listed some major things that NASA does that is not an arm of environmental extremists.
Listen, we DO have to study our planet and others to understand how to do the things that will benefit humans to the best degree possible.
Climate will change, it is important to know what that means so we can plan ahead. Agriculture around the world will change because of it. I am not saying this in an Al Gore way. Simply that it is good to have all the information you can get.
That is not environmental extremism. We DO need to monitor the things that do and can happen.
I am not saying we can change anything, but we certainly must be educated enough to adapt to any changes coming.
I think people have painted themselves into a corner and just freak out and think NASA is nothing but people like that Hansen nutjob. Just ain’t so.
The NASA administrator certainly did not agree with him.
Again, NASA does so much more.
Project Constellation is about ultimately getting us back to the moon to stay and beyond one day.
That is exploration and pushing back the frontier.
As America has always done.
Astronaut Story Musgrave.....
We have been a frontier culture. We were born out of exploration, we were born out of adventure. We were born out of the plains and the mountains. Weve been a very physical kind of culture. And so, if you look at adventure, if you look at exploration, if you look at immersion in nature, a physical culture, and all those things, you can see directly how space flight relates to the way America has been born and how it evolved.
“You have to keep pushing the frontier not just because it’s there, but because that’s how we find things that end up changing humanity,” -Paul Hill, Mission Control
Democrats want to privatize the space race and nationalize the oil industry.
and nationalize health care.
and nationalize education.
and nationalize retirement.
and nationalize your thermostat setting.
This is unbelievable. He’s been always for cuts cuts cuts.. And now this?
McCain has always been pro-space program.
but we are destroying the environment of mars and the moon !!!!!
Obama spaces-out ping
Obama 1.2
Obama 2.0
Obama 2.1
Obama service pack 1
Obama 3.0
so now the DBM is calling on the job training “evolving”
It used to be called flip flopping, waffling, or just outright LYING.
