President George W. Bush delivers a statement on the situation in Georgia with Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice in Crawford, Texas, Saturday, Aug. 16, 2008.
QUOTE OF THE DAY:
President Bush said: We will continue to stand behind Georgia's democracy; we will continue to insist that Georgia's sovereignty and independence and territorial integrity be respected.
Hi!

President Bush and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice arrive to speak to reporters at the president's ranch in Crawford, Texas, early Saturday, Aug. 16, 2008. Bush sent a stern warning to Russia that it cannot lay claim to two breakaway provinces in neighboring Georgia, a U.S. ally.

President Bush and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice speak to reporters at the president's ranch in Crawford, Texas, early Saturday, Aug. 16, 2008

US President George W. Bush makes a statement on the situation between Russia and Georgia, at his ranch in Crawford, Texas, August 16, 2008.

From the radio address:
“To further strengthen their democracy, Georgia has sought to join the free institutions of the West. The people of Georgia have cast their lot with the free world, and we will not cast them aside.
Georgia’s emergence as a young democracy has been part of an inspiring and hopeful new chapter in Europe’s history. Europe has moved beyond the world wars that killed millions of people and the Cold War that divided its citizens between two superpowers. For the first time in memory, Europe is becoming a continent that is whole, free, and at peace. And it is essential that America and other free nations ensure that an embattled democracy seeking to stand with us remains sovereign, secure, and undivided.”
I pray it is enough and your words have the power they need to make a difference.
daisyscarlett: Thank you for posting the DOSE tonight! Thank goodness George W Bush is President of the United States at this important juncture in our history. And thank goodness he has Condi Rice by his side!
The AOL/Powerline poll indicates that more Americans support our supposedly ‘unpopular’ President’s approach to the Georgian conflict than either John McCain or Barack Obama:
n= 38,334
38% President Bush (and AOL is a very left-leaning website)
35% McCain
27% Obama
[President Bush and McCain together: 73%]
Respondents in 40 states support the President’s approach
Respondents in 9 states support McCain’s approach
Respondents in 1 state (Vermont) support Obama’s approach

CRAWFORD, Texas (AFP) - US President George W. Bush on Sunday telephoned Michael Phelps and told the US Olympics swimming sensation "if you can handle eight gold medals, you can handle anything," the White House said.
"Laura and I are proud of you. Our family is proud of you, but most importantly, America is proud of you," Bush, who was here on his Texas ranch, told Phelps, whose eight gold medals at a single Games are unmatched.
"We're excited for you. You handled yourself with humility. Give your mom a big hug for me. 41 and I were honored to get a picture with her," Bush said, referring to his father, George Bush, the 41st US president.
They spoke after Phelps, 23, overtook compatriot Mark Spitz, whose seven swimming golds at Munich in 1972 were the most at a single Games.
Phelps, competing in his third Olympics, took his total of Olympic titles to a record 14, including six from Athens, where he also claimed two bronze.

More photos taken last week of W, Laura and 41 with Michael Phelps at the Olympics.

Thanks for stopping by. I apologize but I must post and run again today, as I did yesterday. I will be back later to add any photos or news that might crop up. And to acknowledge the poster winner for today.
Hi
The staff at the SUN would commit hari-kari if anyone suggested that they post one of these terrific photos of Michael Phelps with President Bush and Mrs. Bush.
Thanks for the Saturday and Sunday dose - sorry not been around much this weekend but have got involved in watching the Olympics on TV and so my hours have been even more crazy.
I would not be surprised if Phelps is invited to the White House like many other athletes have been after winning tournaments.
I’m sure he will be. President Bush phoned him this morning to congratulate him.
re: 15
Excellent pics of W & Phelps! (the Fish!)
I bet as soon as Michael Phelps and his team mates and the other US Olympians are back in the country again the invitation is going out. I would not be surprised if the White House is already working on it
daisyscarlett: Thank you for posting tonight’s DOSE . . . I LOVE the photos of the President (and his daddy) with Michael Phelps — I’m so glad he (the President) was able to watch Phelps earn his first two medals!!

YOU’RE WRONG OBAMA, GEORGE W. BUSH IS OUR PRESIDENT
Barack Obama, after a disastrous appearance on Rick Warrens forum, decided to step up criticisms of John McCain, saying the U.S. economy is a disaster thanks to John McCains president, George W. Bush.
First, lets correct señor Obama, on the economy. The economy was enjoying record growth until the Democrats took over Congress. Since Barack Obamas party took over, gas prices have skyrocketed, and that has had the most significant impact on the economy. The Democrats promised to lower gas prices. They didnt deliver. The Democrats fought for an increase in the minimum wage. Those of us who understand economics said it would cost jobs. Guess what? We were right. The economy has started losing jobs thanks to the Democrats minimum wage hike.
Sorry Obama, the poor state of the current economy belongs to you and your party.
Second, President George W. Bush is our president, not just John McCains. Hes our president and commander-in-chief. I am a proud supporter of President Bush. I donated to his reelection campaign. I started a pro-Bush blog in 2003 that became one of the most successful political blogs of the 2004 campaign season. Id do it again in a heartbeat. Hes my president, and yours, and hes the president of every single American citizen who reads these words Im writing.
I dont agree with everything President Bush has done, but hes been a greater President than Barack Obama could ever dream to be. Obama is nothing without a teleprompter and a speechwriter.

Thank you for the Weekend Dose, Daisy :)
Oh yes, I totally agree with you. He is the most wonderful President we have ever had. The liberals don’t like him because he has done such a great job in spite of them. Go Bush!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great photo of the day! I am glad they are hanging tough
for Georgia. I heard their president (?) give an impassioned
speech the other day that nearly had me in tears.
They are a good ally and there’s not much we can do to help
without Russia turning on us, too! It’s a scary situation.
