House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is hitting back directly at President Bush and congressional Republicans on energy and gas prices.
Pelosi (D-Calif.) will deliver the Democrats weekly radio address, which is a response to the presidents weekly address to the country. She will take aim at Republican energy policies, highlighting Bush's and Vice President Cheneys background in the oil industry, and lay out the Democrats latest plan for energy independence and addressing high gasoline prices.
America faces a choice: a continuation of the Bush-Cheney-McCain approach that perpetuates the failed policies that have produced soaring prices, Pelosi will say, according to a partial transcript of her remarks released Friday, or a comprehensive, bipartisan strategy that develops new and traditional sources of energy.

Hey stupid, ye you Nancy, I believe the failed policies go all the way back to Jimmy (peanutman) Carter and beyond. Our society depends on oil. That's the way it is. You guys, dems and repubs have allowed the environmentalist to control your votes on energy and now you say it's not your fault.
I have an idea for you, why don't you all get together decide when, where and how you will begin to drill, refine and produce more gas/diesel products. Then after that is underway begin to talk about future sources of energy.
We need the oil and the middle class can not afford to fight you guys on taxes and the oil prices. Simply put we are not willing to wait on your so-called alternative energy.
In short,Drill here, Drill now and begin to build new refineries first. Use what is proven and available. Then look at alternatives.

Maybe she’s right; Maybe it’s time to try her approach.
That way, we could all quash public dissent by trying to control media access to the government, as a means of driving up the price of oil and artificially inflating the value of the investments we’ve made in T. Boone Pickens’ alternative energy scam. After all, attempting to bouy the sinking stock price of a company through political assasination and media manipulation (as well as through that company’s reliance on ten billion dollars worth of public funding which Nancy controls) isn’t a dirty political scheme if we all do it, right?
We could all be millionaires like Nancy, and we’d have so much money from our crooked investments we could buy all the gas we needed. Screw the American public! Who needs those unwashed peasants, anyway?

Uh, Nancy? That ship sailed right about the time you gaveled the House on a five-week vacation and turned out the lights. On YOUR watch, gas prices rose from just under $2.50 a gallon to over $4.10 a gallon. In your district, prices for regular unleaded still hover around the $4.50 mark.
And yet you want to blame it on someone like Bush who can sign no laws, make no policies unless YOU pass them along first? My dear, look up the word "chutzpah". See that picture? Yeah, the plastic one with the deer in the headlights look. That would be you. Or to quote a certain Baldwin brother in Backdraft, "You see that little flicker in the corner of your eye? That's your career dissapation line--and it just kicked into high gear."

. . . highlighting Bush's and Vice President Cheneys background in the oil industry . . . So the argument will be that because Bush & Cheney have experience in the oil industry, they are causing the shortage? Isn't this sort of like Robert Mugabe blaming white farmers for turning Zimbabwe from the breadbasket of Africa into the basket case of Africa?

For the record, the retail price of unleaded gasoline was $2.15 per gallon on election day 2006 here in the Pittsburgh area. And we’re always at or close to the national average.

If the ‘Pubbies want to regain the trust and support of their base, they should be shining a huge, gigantic searchlight on this fire and making sure that the voters know who is responsible for the current gas price situation. Pelosi can/will bash Bush and the ‘Pubbies all she wants but, at the end of the day, the facts and the records support the fact that it is the DEMS who have stonewalled any drilling activity.
Failure to spread that message everywhere should be the final nail in the GOP’s coffin.
