Pigeon strikes me as pretty intelligent, thoughtful, new-age type. The ‘new-age’ aspect clouds her judgment, of course.

Rielle has been described elsewhere in the same way that Pigeon describes her.

My take is — Edwards’ narcissism was mirrored beck to him by Rielle’s intense interest in his “soul”. It’s fair to say that both Edwards and Rielle were in love with Edwards — that’s what they had in common.

This is why the scene with Edwards fixing and fluffing his hair with the compact mirror ‘mattered’ — it really was a profound insight into the incredible shallowness and self-involvement of this guy.

Elizabeth Edwards is intent on managing this fiasco, just in the same way that Hillary managed the Lewinsky fallout. Elizabeth cooked up the legalistic “ modified limited hangout” (to borrow a phrase from the Nixon impeachment years) that the affair began on a certain date, was limited in time, was disclosed to Elizabeth by her husband in 2006, and ended in 2006.

The pictures and the timeline associated with them prove that this is a lie — but it gets them past the first few weeks and allows Elizabeth to insert herself into the timeline so that SHE can be the face of the Edwards’ defense. Pretty pathetic, really.
