Ridge said he was proud of how McCain has handled the crisis unfolding in Georgia.

...“He has kept a cool head, taken calls from Georgian president Mikhail Saakashvili -- and really behaved very presidential in his perspective of this crisis,” said Ridge as McCain shook hands with the crowd that gathered around him.

“He has been to Georgia several times,” Ridge added. “He doesn’t need to look for it on a map.”

Speaking of fishing....

Ice Fishing

The Presidential election was too close to call. Neither the Republican candidate nor the Democratic candidate had enough votes to win.. There was much talk about ballot recounting, court challenges, etc., but a week-long ice fishing competition seemed the sportsmanlike way to settle things. The candidate that caught the most fish at the end of the week would win the election.

Therefore, it was decided that there should be an ice fishing contest between the two candidates to determine the winner.

After much of back and forth discussion, it was decided that the contest take place on a remote frozen lake in northern Minnesota

There were to be no observers present, and both men were to be sent out separately on this isolated lake and return at 5 P.M. with their catch for counting and verification by a team of neutral parties. At the end of the first day, John Mc. returned to the starting line and he had ten fish.

Soon, Obama returned and had no fish. Well, everyone assumed he was just having another ‘bad hair’ day or something and hopefully, he would catch up the next day.

At the end of the 2nd day John Mc. came in with 20 fish and Obama came in again with none.

That evening, Harry Reid got together secretly with Obama and said, ‘Obama, I think John Mc. is a low-life, cheatin’ son-of-a-gun. I want you to go out tomorrow and don’t even bother with fishing. Just spy on him and see just how he is cheating.’

The next night(after John Mc. returns with 50 fish), Harry Reid said to Obama, ‘Well, tell me, how is John Mc. Cheating fish?’

Obama replied, ‘Harry, you’re not going to believe this, but he’s cutting holes in the ice.’

Someone needs to tell “ACE” he's not the President.

At this point the canidates just need to stay out of the fray.

The problem is fragile enough .

I think the McCain campaign has found Obama's weak spot, which is that he takes offense easily and is defensive. They appear to be deliberately following Sun Tzu's admonition: "If your enemy is quick to anger, irritate him."

I gotta hand it to McCain's team, and McCain. They are excellent at getting off some great dead-on one-line zingers at Obama, and it is obvious that they are getting under his skin.

The more irritated Obama becomes, the more he displays his underlying brittleness, the more mistakes he makes, and the more stammering he's done.

Obama is glad that he’s safe on vacation in Hawaii but is fearful of any politicking his campaign may have him do in Atlanta for fear of Russian missile attacks...

I’m no fan of McCain but when he said I look into Putin’s eyes and see KGB I could not have agreed with him more. President Bush showed the same naivete with Putin that undermined his administration in so many other areas. Joining Kennedy in No Child Left Behind only to be castigated for it ever since. Failing to clean out or marginalize partisans in important non appointed Executive branch agency positions. Putin’s intentions to reassert Russian hegemony over the former USSR empire has been obvious to anyone who was paying attention for as long as he has been on the national stage. Our State department, intelligence agencys and the president himself failed us on this score but worse by far is we have failed the Georgian people and weakened ourselves in the eyes of every Allie that we now have and there is no excuse for it. Self inflicted ignorance is a disgrace to any man or nation and it often proves out to be fatal for both.

That's a good one. I love fishing, but hate ice.

I drove by the Bass Pro Shop in Harrisburg last fall. At the time, I’m pretty sure I was lost.

LOL! Hooray Tom Ridge. Thanks for the article, Salena.

Barack has probably been to Georgia, also. I'll bet he's been to most of the 57 states. /sarcasm

Hey “ACE”, FYI - McCain has known Sakashvili for 10 yrs. Met him when Sakashvili was going to law school here. He has every right to speak to him on the phone and be involved.
