NO ONE knows just how many Muslim girls and women are murdered each year in the name of family "honor," since their deaths frequently go unreported and unpunished. The cases that do come to light are ghastly. "Women and young girls are set ablaze, strangled, shot at, clubbed, stabbed, tortured, axed, or stoned to death," a United Nations report noted in 2004. "Their bodies are found mutilated with their throat slit, or they are chopped into pieces and thrown in a ditch."
The report singled out as especially horrifying the honor killing in Pakistan of "a 16-year-old girl who was reportedly electrocuted to death after being drugged with sleeping pills and being tied to a wooden bed with iron chains." Her offense: marrying a boy from the wrong community. Countless others have lost their lives for refusing an arranged marriage, wearing Western-style clothing, having a boyfriend, or even being raped.
Recently, the Saudi human rights activist Wajeha al-Huwaidar wrote a scathing essay characterizing honor killings as a scourge peculiar to the "Greater Middle East," with its entrenched culture of misogyny and male supremacy. Her article was prompted by the lynching of 17-year-old Du'a al-Aswad, a Kurdish girl stoned to death by a mob of Iraqi men. (The essay has been translated by the Middle East Media Research Institute, which also provides a link to a gruesome cellphone video of the lynching.) "From Pakistan and Afghanistan through Iran, the Middle East, and all the way to Morocco," Huwaidar wrote, "this entire part of the world [is full of] defeated and dejected men, whose only way to gain some sort of victory is by beating their women to death."

Surely in the US, “honor killings” would deprive their victims of their human rights, and thus be a federal crime? And, by definition, there would be pre-meditation involved, so surely they would qualify for the Death Penalty?

Pre-Internet, and when I experienced the diversity that came to Miami in the 70s and 80s, there was the occasional honor killing. Most were related to “personal honor”, and involved South Americans — most notably, Brazilians.
I don’t think I’ve ever heard a feminist group speak out aginst this.

Islam is not a religion nor is it a cult. It is a complete system. Islam has religious, legal, political, economic and military components. The religious component is a beard for all the other components. Islamization occurs when there are sufficient Muslims in a country to agitate for their so-called ‘religious rights'.
When politically correct and culturally diverse societies agree to ‘the reasonable’ Muslim demands for their ‘religious rights,’ they also get the other components under the table. Here’s how it works (percentages source CIA: The World Fact Book (2007)).
As long as the Muslim population remains around 1% of any given country they will be regarded as a peace-loving minority and not as a threat to anyone. In fact, they may be featured in articles and films, stereotyped for their colorful uniqueness:
At 2% and 3% they begin to proselytize from other ethnic minorities and disaffected groups with major recruiting from the jails and among street gangs:
From 5% on they exercise an inordinate influence in proportion to their percentage of the population. They will push for the introduction of halal (clean by Islamic standards) food, thereby securing food preparation jobs for Muslims. They will increase pressure on supermarket chains to feature it on their shelves — along with threats for failure to comply. (United States).
At this point, they will work to get the ruling government to allow them to rule themselves under Sharia, the Islamic Law. The ultimate goal of Islam is not to convert the world but to establish Sharia law over the entire world. When Muslims reach 10% of the population, they will increase lawlessness as a means of complaint about their conditions (Paris –car-burnings). Any non-Muslim action that offends Islam will result in uprisings and threats (Amsterdam - Mohammed cartoons).
After reaching 20% expect hair-trigger rioting, jihad militia formations, sporadic killings and church and synagogue burning:

From 60% you may expect unfettered persecution of non-believers and other religions, sporadic ethnic cleansing (genocide), use of Sharia Law as a weapon and Jizya, the tax placed on infidels:

It is good to remember that in many, many countries, such as France, the Muslim populations are centered around ghettos based on their ethnicity. Muslims do not integrate into the community at large. Therefore, they exercise more power than their national average would indicate.

We can be sure that Supreme Court "Justices" Ginsberg, Kennedy, Souter, Stevens, and Breyer--who consider Foreign Law applicable to their decisions--are studying it carefully.
Wonder whom a President Obama would appoint to the Supreme Court...

A person who would kill his own daughter has no business being in the United States.

Here is one of the few things where the MSM can really make a difference: by shaming “honor” killers and their families.
That is, turn it around on them. Publish the pictures of the murderers and other family members with glaring captions like:
“Murderer Shames Family”,
“Father Kills Daughter And Destroys Families Honor”,
“Pig-Like Murderer Makes Own Family Outcasts”,
“Family Shamed By Murder Of Daughter”.
“Pictures of a family of dogs who killed honorable daughter.”
Then give follow up stories that deeply embarrass that family, not just socially but religiously. Imply that they are no longer welcome in their mosque, that they have become “unclean”.
That their children will be rejected by their peers and have no chance of marriage, and generally that their family has been cursed by the “wretched, dog-like murderer” of their innocent and upstanding daughter. That they must now leave the area, abandoning the murderer to rot in prison, because HE has shamed them so much that they can never show their faces again. They are untouchables.
The media can do this very well, making people hated outcasts, and in doing so, will stop the killings. A small price to pay for ending barbarity.
It must be done to maximize exposure to that community, and to make the community itself embarrassed that it has such “primitive” people among them.
By doing so, it will change the “social sanction”. That is, the cultural rules that they follow.
Something the MSM can do that actually helps people for a change.
