Florida, Three Months Out -- Sun Shines on McCain: In an election in critical swing-state Florida for President of the United States today, 08/04/2008, Republican John McCain defeats Democrat Barack Obama, 50% to 44%, according to this latest SurveyUSA poll pre-election poll conducted exclusively for WFLA-TV Tampa and WKRG-TV Pensacola.

It’s official- there is still no need for McCain to choose Charlie Crist as his running mate.
One socialist leading another in a poll! Great news!
Vs. Marxist Obama
Good. Then Crist will not have to go through with the wedding.
Mark Sanford of SC would energize all conservatives, but cost McCain some of his Hillary voters.
It’s 3 recent pivotal swing state polls that show McCain beating Obama Ohio, Missouri, and Florida.
Obama may have about a 3% chance of winning if he loses these key states.
Crist wasn't considered more than a longshot for the VP nomination anyway.
Not surprised that McCain is +6 in FL. Some of that is due to movement toward the GOP amomong Jewish voters. Plus, I'd intuit that the Cuban-Americans are supporting McCain by a wide margin because of Obama's ultraleft leanings.
Mark Sanford is excellent- he should have run against Lindsay Graham.
Sanford served as a congressional rep and from what I know has no interest in returning (living) in DC as a rep or Senator. The White House may be a different attraction someday.
This is a poll taken over the previous weekend, and posted the first time last Tuesday. Besides being a weekend poll, it is a poll of registered voters, not likely voters. As I said Tuesday, when you allow for this, and throw in the Bradley effedt, M<cCain is up by 15%.
In light of your info on this Survey USA poll, Obama is done in Florida.
This may be why he recently moved to have all the delegates seated for Florida and Michigan. The Dems pissed off a lot of people when they took away half the seats. He must think a little appeasement is in order.
I know McCain is winning FL and MO, but have you got a link to any recent OH polls? If McCain can win these 3 states, I don’t see how he can lose the election.
The latest Ohio Rasmussen poll shows McCain hammering Obama in Ohio by 10% when leaners are included.
I’ll find it for you....
found it:
OK, Thanks.
Hey, I just took a look at the OH poll and Mac is up 10 points/w leaners. With this and being ahead in MO and FL, things are looking better than I thought...at least for now.
THe Rassmussen daily tracking polls are always looking better for McCain.
How come they are never posted on this site? Is there some kind of embargo against them?
This Mark Sanford??? You’re joking, right? Come on, he’s had his Dan Qualyle moment... He’s NOT ready for Prime Time http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d4qtgTAg_7o
My dear CF aren’t you just a few days late with this? ;-)
Only if he is [still?] determined to blow the election. I just can't see that many people considering Crist (insert loud barfing here) as a resume enhancer.
Putting Crist on the ticket will ensure that this Florida voter will not vote for McCain. Having to vote for both of them will cause me to hold my nose so badly that I would most likely suffocate. Besides, my hope is that Crist gets stomped when he re-runs. He’s a phony, a fraud and a grifter.
Let’s see...
High taxes and open borders vs. low taxes and open borders
I’ll vote for McAmnesty.

More like a RINO leading a MARXIST, but whatever. :)
Again, it's a lose/lose situation for Florida voters. The RNC will not allow any serious (conservative or otherwise) primary opposition to Crist. They will cut him off at the knees.
And who was the last *decent* Democrat governor of Florida? What are the prospects of a quality Democrat emerging as an opponent? Obviously none.
I’m encouraged by that Rasmussen poll, but it seems like a bit of an outlier. McCain may still be ahead, I just don’t know if I believe it is by 10 points. Rasmussen’s two most previous polls from May and June have had McCain ahead by small margins somewhere in the 44-47% range. Now all of the sudden McCain is at 52%? It’s a little hard to believe.
I think it’s this: Obama’s low poll numbers are designed to make the Dem superdelegates rethink their initial choice, and opt for Hillary instead.
I don’t trust the numbers, I think they’re rigged for Hillary!’s benefit.
It’s an embarrassing gaffe, but not a disqualifier.
It’s true that the choices this year are less than inspiring.
The choices COULD change, too, ya know ?????

Because Florida is in a recession...
