Lieberman ‘on McCain short-list’
Financial Times ^ | 08/09/2008 | Stephanie Kirchgaessner in Washington

"Joe Lieberman, the former Democratic vice-presidential nominee who has endorsed John McCain, is being vetted as a potential running mate for the Republican presidential hopeful, according to an adviser to Mr McCain’s campaign."

"Conservatives would be pissed as hell – I think you would have a revolt, but sometimes John does what John wants to do,” the McCain adviser said.

Yesterday, we had the Gang of 10 and that idiotic move by five Republicans, including McCain’s shadow, Lindsey Graham, and today more on the possibility of a liberal Democrat as running mate.

Wouldn’t that be wild: the Dem. VP candidate from 2000 becomes the Republican VP candidate for 2008. Having this sort of garbage floating around serves no worthwhile purpose, and if McCain is serious, then the guy has a severe shortage of common sense, among other problems.

There are many days that I believe conservative America just might be better off with Obama.

Yeah, a couple more Ruth Ginsbergs in the SCOTUS is just what the USA needs. /s

Aren’t there enough liberals, RINOS, gutless swine and traitors in the republican party without having to choose from among the dems for a running mate??? Five supposed “republican” Senators just betrayed the American people by forming the “Gang of Ten” and bending over once again to everything the dems want concerning drilling...the one issue which could have propelled republicans to victories in November! Surely one of these thugs—Lindsay Gramnesty for example—could fill all of the requirements for a McCain running mate.

Clever boy, Juan. Liebeman and Cantor on short lists, or, at least that’s what the news wants us to believe. Romney, too.

Your sarcasm aside, just what makes you think that McCain will do any better at picking a Supreme? If he picks Lieberman as VP, he is capable of nominating liberals to the Supreme Court.

Whomever he picks, it has to be AFTER Boma makes his pick so the selection can at least be a calculus of the Dem ticket.

...it is nice to confuse the heck out of Obama’s strategists... I think Obamamesiah has to pick out a VP before the Democrat convention... and if John is picking folks all over the map... the Obamamists must be going nuts...

Hope you're right!

“The up-side would be the Republican Governor in CT would be able to appoint an “R” to his seat. That would really frost the Dems..”

If McCain/Lieberman wins.... I’m surprised McCain is doing as well as he is. If he thinks adding Lieberman helps him win, he nuts and deserves to lose.

There are many days that I believe conservative America just might be better off with Obama.

In your dreams! I think B. Hussien Obama will tilt the US so far LEFTWARD, it won't recover. I think with the SOCIALISTS in congress - starting with Queen Nancy and King Harry - they'll pass a few laws that'll limit the RIGHTS of the American citizens.

And if B. Hussien - who will make Jimmy Carter look like JFK - get a few judges on the SC, I think we'll have our laws based on what the world - not on what the FOUNDERS wanted. (Same with the military - he'll put it under UN control.)

“I think it is because he knows that most conservatives will vote for him because of Obamaosama and he feels he can do anything he wants and get elected.”

I think you’re probably right, but he’s acting like someone with limited intelligence. He’d only have to really insult a few thousand conservatives in some swing state and his stupid maverick posturing and ego could cast him the election.

Two big turnoffs in a row for many: the Gang of 10 yesterday and now more of this.

“We’ll survive 4 years of Che Obama”

I don’t think so. I was asked on a phone call during the last POTUS election what I thought of a one-party system. I think this is what Obama and the Soros gang want, or a ‘rewrite’ of the Constitution. Maybe we’ll even have one time zone to boot, like the COMMUNIST Chinese.

Yep! And what’s worse - is that, once again - the Republicans will get the BLAME for all the bad things that will happen with the crazy lib policies he will push for!

Juan McCain is DEATH for conservatives!

I suppose if the media names enough names eventually they’ll “predict” the right one.

“If McCain/Lieberman wins”

If the Obamanation wins, we’ll have years and years of supporting abortion that can leave live — but aborted — babies lying on cold steel or the tops of garbage, waiting to die.

There were many times that I looked back to 94 and realized that Clinton was pretty helpless in imposing a socialist agenda on the US. Instead, he eliminated welfare as we knew it.

McCain has been the most effective anti-conservative legislator in our lifetime. But. being vain and stupid he was only able to do that by selling out Republicans. What do you think would be different about a McCain presidency, particularly if he demanded and got party loyalty like Bush did when he inflicted Medicare Prescription coverage on us?

I still think we were on to something with Operation Chaos. Hillary still looks like the best of the three. She was the crook we know, not the sellout or the empty suit.

But the Romney-haters should be pleased that maybe Joe has catapulted above Mitt on the short-list.

Um. No.

While both are liberals, Romney would be a better choice than Alf. Although, just like Cantor, Alf would attract Jewish voters who would be (absurdly) inclined to vote for nObama.

What bothers me about your statement is that because a Freeper has conservative values and advocates them against a proposed liberal candidate (Romney), he or she is being labeled a "hater". That is right out of the demoncrat playbook my FRiend.

“MSM idiots fooling around. Lieberman is imaginable as Secretary of State, but no way Veep.”

Several have said that, but do you really believe that his article is just made up out of thing air, and there was no McCain adviser who supplied quotes, and that Lieberman is not being considered?

If there is nothing to this, then the McCain campaign should clarify immediately because this sort of story does nothing to energize the base.
