The Edwards on Nightline just concluded. It seems there were a few nuggets to be gleaned. Mr.Edwards was a victim, it seems of his own success. He was raised poor, then achieved local 'stardom' by age 30 - 31 years of age. Then he became a very young senator, then a young vice presidential nominee, and then on to become a presidential nominee. All of this went to his head (the one above and below his neck. Then he had a short trist in late 2006. He serviced Ms.Hunter, we are asked to believe, and immediately told Elizebeth. She was furious, but now their marriage is stronger. She is in his heart. He says he definitly did not father the child Francis Quinn Hunter. He is willing to take a paternity test, but he is only half of the provider of material for the test. When he takes the test, he will immediately tell Nightline producers.
He says he met in the Beverly Hilton with Bob McGovern, Reille and the baby. He met to try to secure this information which is now coming out. He provided a nonanswer to the question as to why he ran when confronted by the Enquirers reporters.
Edwards says he paid no hush money, nor asked anyone to pay hush money. When Woodward asked if he knew independent ABC sources confirmed that a Fred Barron had been paying $15,000 Edwards said he knew nothing of it. It was reported Reille is living in California in $3 million digs. He knew nothing about it. A sidebar interview with Mr. Barron reports that Barron was paying this at his own initiative, not that of Mr. Edwards and it was between Ms.Reille and Barron and would not be discussed again. So it seems clear that Ms.Reille Hunter has a tax problem, unless she has been paying taxes on these gifts she has received. Anything over 10 K is reportable as income. It also seems Mr. Andrew Young may have received income from Mr.Barron.
It was refreshing to see Mr.Edwards say what he did was nothing different than what, say, John McCain did many years ago, but he did not want to go there, bringing back to the TV watcher Edward's not-so-tangential reference to the magnaminity of Mr. Cheney loving his homosexual daughter, in the Vice Presidential Debates.
There were many nondenial, denials. There were a good many deflections to other subjects, as good lawyers are apt to be able to do.
All in all this interview seems to have created more questions than it put to bed.

When Hannity interviewed the NE editor today, he mentioned that there was much more, including more evidence that Edwards was the father of the child. It will be interesting to see if Edwards actually goes through a paternity test.
The DNA question would put it all to rest. I would think Edwards would want that out there as quickly as possible, if he is not the father.
We need the National Enquirer to do the paternity tests and not anyone from the Edwards camp or especially anyone from MSM.

If $$$ was being paid to Andrew Young, why would that have even been necessary if Young IS the father? It seems if that were true, Edwards would have been GLAD for Young to go public and tell about being the woman’s baby’s daddy. Baron has admitted paying Young.
National Enquirer guy - says they have friends of Rielle Hunter who say that she is in love with Edwards and fully expects to “have him” permanently eventually.

I have been very impressed the the National Enquirers representative. They have seemed deliberative, calm, and reasoned. They seem to command facts which neither Edwards nor the MSM have refuted, not to mention the fact that they flushed him out of his rathole to profer an andmission of exactly what they accused him of doing last year. Now, new accusations, of fathering a love child, is, if Edwards is right, could stop the story dead in its tracts, if he had a legitimate DNA paternity test prove his innocense. I wonder why he is not jumping on getting that test done.
Nightline comes on here in 30 minutes and I'm going to watch it, so I'll give you my take when it's over. :o)

Watch what he says when describing Elizabeth’s reaction when he told her.
It’s very detached and totally unbelievable. No mention of what a terrible time they went thru, how their relationship was affected. It was as if he had to make up a story about her reaction. It leads me to believe that he has cheated on her for years and she accepts it.
I hold no great political concerns for Elizabeth. She seems to be enabling him to ride it out. She seems like Hillary in one way, responding like Hillary.
However, on another level, I see Elizabeth's position as one with metastatic, anaplastic, terminal carcinomatosis and must be unimaginably worried about her children, especially the youngest two. She is soon to be dead and will leave those children with a proven narcissist,liar,self-absorbed father who may well have sired this baby. She must be worried about their upbringing. If she asked John to promise to do this or to do that, she must have a big question in her mind about whether he will do as she asked , for her baby's sake. As a parent I worry about something happening to me and how just the loss would affect my kids, and I have a great wife. How much more does Elizabeth worry about her kids lives when she is gone. That is a heavy burdon.
Did you catch what Edwards said about the paternity test? He said "IF they do one, I'll let you know what it shows." LOL Riiiiiight. I'm sure it will show that it's not him. He needs to have it done with an independent lab while the NE looks on to make sure there's no hanky panky going on.

After seeing that interview on Nightline, I think Edwards is definitely the top candidate for the smarmiest of the year award. Yuck.

Thanks for posting this. Baron claims to have helped Hunter and Young move away because the tabloids were harassing them. Why all the way to the West Coast? And if their being bothered by the press was his main concern, why didn’t he simply hire body guards to keep the press away from them? You have to laugh at the length these liars will go with their ridiculous explanations and excuses.
I think it is important because if you remember Mr.Edwards exited the primary race, sat quietly for several weeks, waiting for Hill and Osama to come to North Carolina to try secure his endorsement. He ultimately threw it to Obama. Now this disqualifying behavior (disqualifyer for the 2008 Dem nomination) was there and known to Edwards in November 2006. At that time there had not been a single vote case for popular vote or delegate vote for anyone. Edwards procurred 17 electoral votes and 5-15% of the popular votes. It is an imponderable to know if that 4-15% might have gone to Hillary in the early primaries or cacauses. It may have been enough to shift the momentum from Obama to Hillary in Iowa and, who knows, it may have given the election to Hillary. If I were the Hillary camp, that is exactly what I would be circulating....that the entire delegate selection process is corrupted by the knowable disqualification of voters by Edwards (who falsly hoped against the odds) that this would never come out.
But, it did. He threw his weight behind Obama thereafter and Hillary was taken out. Edwards and Obama conspired at the time of his exiting the race to have future primaries move would-be Edwards voters to Obams' column.
I know it is thin in concept, but Hillary wants to be president. I think she could make chicken salad out of chicken sh*t at the convention. Anyway, I can hope.

I think you're right about him doing it before. What I did notice that was missing when he talked about her reaction was that she was mad, furious, etc, but I never heard anything about how hurt or worse, devastated she was. Having been there, I can tell you that is the worst part of it. The betrayal is unbelievably painful. He never mentioned that. At least not that I've heard, so far anyway. Nightline comes on in about 7 min. I can't wait to see what he says. He's lower than the scum of the earth.

Yes. I would like Bill O’Reilly’s ‘face reading lady’ see this and comment. I noticed he lied mostly when his lip moved, but also when he fluttered his eyelids and his eyes became slit-like. He fluttered his eyes quiet rapidly, then moved to an audible “Iiiaaauu.....” then confabulated with much less disctinction than Mr. Clinton with the finger wagging incident. It was not an academy award winning performance.
