Cheney will speak at GOP convention
Vice President Cheney will speak at the Republican National Convention next month in St. Paul on the same night as President Bush, according to representaives for the vice president and John McCain's campaign.
"The vice president looks forward to participating in the Republican National Convention and continuing to work for the election of Sen. McCain and other Republican candidates in the coming months," Cheney spokeswoman Megan Mitchell said in a statement.

The idea that Dick Cheney wouldn’t be offered a speaking slot at the GOP Convention is ridiculous. Cheney remains very popular with the GOP`s rightwing.
I think many conservatives wanted the VP to run for POTUS. Myself included.

With Cheney you get him and his wife. You couldn’t ask for two more capable people. She is sharp as a tack. He’s the chairman of the board. As far as I am concerned, McCain isn’t fit to tie his shoe laces.
I haven’t agreed with Cheney on every issue, but overall I think he’d make a fine president.
That being said, if he was another apologist for our illegal immigrant population, it would be a deal breaker for me.
The problem with Vice-Presidents and department heads, is that you don’t always know what their policies are. They support the president and his policies.
I would hope that Cheney fulfilled your and my vision of him, a capable reasoned individual.

ugh i cant stand turdblossom, I believe he is one of the ones that ruined the GOP. btw I like chaney but if he had no intention of running, he should have quit 2 years ago, but somehow i think W wouldve chose romney for vp. Man I wish Chaney would get up to the podium and talk about some obscure law and say he is taking the nomination, the liberals would explode!

This has been one of my biggest gripes about W and his ‘New Tone’...he has never defended those that have been loyal to him against the Demofascist slime machine, the treatment of Cheney being one of the worst examples.

I was looking on YouTube at Ronald Reagan’s convention speech in 1980, and a lot of what the Left said then (that Reagan wanted to change), is still true now. They want us to believe that our best days are behind us, that we can’t produce our own energy, blah blah blah.

I add (did it long ago) Richard Bruce Cheney to the list of people whom I’d consider it a high honor to meet. Some passed before I had the chance (Reagan, Tony Snow), but many still live.

I just read some of the comments on Politico— what is the source of all this rage against Vice President Cheney? Is it because he is such an amazing man— good looking, well spoken, intelligent, unflappable— they feel threatened? So they have to make up paranoid stories about secret oil schemes and exploiting the troops because they desperately need to tear him down?

Anyone who thinks Cheney would have any chance whatsoever to have won the presidency is showing how truly out of touch they really are. Maybe he is capable, maybe he would be great, but he would be destroyed in an election.
