Censoring the Bible? It Could Happen in COlORADO
CBN News ^ | August 6th, 2008

Posted on 08/06/2008 1:16:17 PM PDT by Raineygoodyear

Christian leaders gathered in Denver Tuesday in opposition to an anti-Christian censorship law that could open the door to censoring the Bible.

Colorado Gov. Bill Ritter signed the state bill, SB 200, which aims at silencing all publications that discriminate against homosexuality.

"Section 8 of Senate Bill 200 is a wide open door for any judge to censor anything that condemns homosexuality, including Scripture," Colorado State Rep. Kevin Lundberg said.

Many Christians fear that one day the Bible will be considered illegal in America. "I do believe that the Bible is banned, under the plain language of this new statute," Steve Crampton, general counsel of the pro-family Liberty Counsel, said, indicating he believes that day is already here.

Section 8 reads, "No person, being the owner. agent, or employee of any place of public accommodation. shall publish. distribute, give away. except as provided in this section, any communication. book, pamphlet, writing. or advertisement of any kind. intended or calculated to discriminate. against. sexual orientation, marital status (which) is unwelcome."

It is titled, "Publishing of discriminative matter forbidden."

Leaders at Tuesday's press conference included members from the Liberty Counsel, American Right to Life Action, Christian Home Educators of Colorado, the Christian Family Alliance, Colorado for Family Values, State Rep. Kevin Lundberg and talk show host Janet Folger.

Banning God could be a somewhat dangerous thing. I don’t imagine that He will take kindly to this event. Would serve them right if Colorado received a little more lightening.

That statute is an outright assault on the First Amendment in a number of ways - it violates the free exercise of religion, the right of free speech, etc.

There are dozens of examples in our modern society of “Man” thinking that his thinking/reasoning is a better source of truth than the Word of God.

Most of them are liberals, but we have a few evoatheists on FR. Not sure they could be called “conservatives”.

Wait till they figure out the Mohammedans don't tolerate homosexuality at all. What will they do tell them it has to be taken out of the Koran?

Look out boys, that slope's a-gittin' slicker all the time.

There has been a growing power that is pro-homo in Colorado. I remembering reading of a pro-homo group going all out to get more dems in the state legislature. And they succeeded. The ground floor for the attack on Christians is being laid.

I have often wondered if part of this stategery was to silence Focus on the Family.

The rats took control of the state in 2006 and the result has been a push in favor of homosexual “rights” and a number of threatened tax increases. And, of course, increased spending. The only thing keeping the tax increases in check is TABOR but the rats are working hard to get past that hurdle.

The Torah is the primary source for Jewish views on homosexuality. It states that: "[A man] shall not lie with another man as [he would] with a woman, it is a to'eva" (Leviticus 18:22).

Then the Torah will also be banned.

"We also sent Lut: He said to his people: Do ye commit lewdness such as no people in creation (ever) committed before you? For ye practice your lusts on men in preference to women: ye are indeed a people transgressing beyond bounds. And his people gave no answer but this: they said, "Drive them out of your city: these are indeed men who want to be clean and pure!"" (Qur'an 7:80-82)

And the Koran as well...... Homosexuality is universally condemned by all religions (except in California and Massachusetts).

Hmmmmm...

So the spirit of Antichrist comes a little more out of the shadows and into the open, I see.

Just about every other piece on the end-time chessboard is in it's proper place; now here is another one.

Oh, and one more thing? It is God who does the eternal banning of those who hate Him and rebel against Him and spit in His face.

I'd say I hope the good people of Colorado keep that in mind but in their world there is no God and no sin and no day of accountability and nothing to worry about.

Just one more day closer to the return of Christ.

Until Jesus returns...
He came the first time as the Savior to die for humanity. John reminds us of this by describing his “robe dipped in blood.” And because he has come to Savior to die for humanity; he has the right to come the second time as the King to judge and rule humanity
His appearance will be worldwide and unmistakable. Just like a summer thunderstorm that lights up the entire sky, everyone will see Jesus coming (Matthew 24:26-27, 30).

His return will also be accompanied by awesome cosmic events (Matthew 24:29-30). These events will herald the end of this age and the beginning of a new age in which both the heavens and the earth are cleansed and transformed by God.

There was a lawsuit recently brought by a gay guy claiming the passages relating to sodomy in the Bible had caused him emotional distress and he wanted the publisher of the Bible to remove those passages and he wanted compensation for his emotional distress.

The suit was dismissed based on freedom of speech.

You are very much mistaken. Perhaps you are judging Judaism by the majority of American Jews who are non-Orthodox and liberal. Authentic historical Judaism as it has been practiced since Sinai is what is today called "Orthodox" Judaism (it's actually just Judaism proper).

Male homosexuality is forbidden by the Torah and is a capital offense for both Jews and non-Jews. Female homosexuality is forbidden by the rabbis on the authority which Torah invests in them, but I do not think it carries the death penalty (after all, females can't really do anything with each other). I do not know the status of female homosexuality among non-Jews.

The association of Judaism with homosexuality (like its association with Communism, modernity, decadence, etc.) is the result of Jews' persecution at the hands of chr*stianity for so long, which has led radicals to claim the Jewish martyrs as an early sort of radical religious dissident.

Orthodox Jews are not heard as often as chr*stians because of their small numbers, their insularity, and the fact that their status up to now as an "oppressed minority" cherished and celebrated by the liberals has insulated them from the anti-religious bigotry experienced by chr*stians (just as the Black churches have been insulated from the anti-religious animus of their liberal "friends" in the civil rights movement). They will most certainly be heard from if they ever find themselves in the crosshairs, though the anti-religious Left still idealizes the Jewish suffering of the Middle Ages and has largely used it as an excuse for the secularization of the West.

The concept of banning God and his laws has not really worked out all that well for mankind. I’m reminded of Psalms 2:

Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?
The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying,
Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.
He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the LORD shall have them in derision.
Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.

The governor of Colorado could appoint a commission (after getting recommendations from the National Council of Churches, the ACLU, and some homosexual activists) to produce a "Colorado Abridged" edition of the Bible, with all the passages condemning homosexual behavior deleted.

But they'd still have to decide what to do to people found with copies of the unauthorized complete text. And the feminists would step in and demand gender-neutral pronouns for God, and the animal rights activists might want any phrase disrespectful of animals removed (such as Ps. 22.6).
