Influenced by New York Times columnist Bob Herbert's recent claims on MSNBC's Morning Joe that the McCain campaign deliberately included "phallic symbols" along with images of attractive young white women in an ad attacking Barack Obama to exploit racial resentment, MSNBC host Keith Olbermann latched onto this theory on Monday's Countdown show and observed that the ad featured "two underdressed blondes mixed with the black guy," and contended that the ad included "three phallic symbols, two blondes and Barack Obama," opining that the ad is an example of "miscegenation," and that it suggests Obama is "going to wind up dating those women."
Newsweek's Jonathan Alter, also an MSNBC political analyst, charged: "That's the oldest and deepest racist, you know, canard in American history, really, is that, you know, the slave is going to come after the wife of the plantation owner." And, ignoring the GOP's history of portaying white Senator John Kerry as elitist during the 2004 campaign, Alter further charged that Republicans are "trying to portray [Obama] as being uppity," and hinted at the racially charged connotation of the word "uppity."

Mass insanity is the only thing I can think of. Even commenting that Obama is thin has become racist code talk. I hear, see, and read this stuff, and I just shake my head in amazement and wonder what the hell is WRONG with these people.

All of the footage of Obama comes from his Berlin Love-Fest. All of the "phallic symbols" are images of the Victory Column in Berlin.
Now, if Obama chooses to hold a rally in front of a 200 foot column and winds up being photographed in front of that 200 foot tall column, whose fault is that? Somehow about 100,000 people and every TV network on Earth failed to hear about the "no cameras" policy.
This is a typical Lib trick. If, in fact, the McCain camp had interspersed images of three different towers into the advertisement, then you could say it was an intentional act. So the inclusion of this false detail is very important to the argument.
And, of course, when you call them on their lie, they say that their error is just a meaningless detail, and it does not discredit their central argument.
The fact is, the McCain camp included footage of the rally that had been on every TV network only a few days before. To help the viewer, they included footage of the Victory Tower, which made it clear that the images were from this rally. That's all it is. In order to make it more than that, Herbert and now Olbermann are just lying outright to make the facts fit their argument.
It's either sleazy or stupid. I'm gonna say sleazy.
The obsession of the left with perversion has them seeing 'phallic symbols' everywhere.
And what's wrong with having attractive white women in an ad about Obama. Isn't Obama claiming he wants to be President? That means he'd be President of the attractive white women as much as of the ugly non-white women. . .right?

I'm going with stupid. The ‘phallic symbol’ is the most overworked cliche in the lexicon of Freudian psychology, I think even Freud was embarrassed by its overuse(sometimes a cigar...), but it seems to stick in the mind of the dumb asses taking the courses of least resistance to get a college degree. I think Herbert and Olbermann fall into that category.
