Pacific Gas and Electric Company has made a shareholder contribution of $250,000 to the Vote No on 8 Equality for All campaign, and the utility will be approaching other businesses to join the fight to defeat the ballot measure.
At an event at PG&E's headquarters Tuesday, July 29, Geoff Kors, executive director of Equality California, said that businesses have stood with the LGBT community in efforts to win equality, and "that's going to get us victory."
"Businesses understand why this is important ... and they understand it's the right thing to do," he said, noting the value of equality to both employees and customers.

"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." - Manuel II Palelologus
Wow, it is a good thing Pacific Gas & Electric Company doesn’t have anything like a monopoly on the services they provide, then the consumers can choose not to use the........... oh, wait. Never mind.
“PG&E did not give this donation, you did! “
Tell me about it. Actually, this is unbelievable!! I was wondering how the employees of PG&E feel, I mean the ones who are family oriented, those who believe the family unit is sacred, that marriage is sacred. If I were an employee of PG&E and found out that RATHER THAN GIVE ME A BONUS OR A RAISE my superiors were throwing rate payers’ money down into the abyss, I would be furious!!
bumping this outrageous act by PG&E

We are planning something - activism - probably for this Thursday in Fresno. I am working on a flyer. Say, I wonder if we could get FReepers to distribute the same flyer this Thursday at a certain time to PG&E offices in their area? Let me know what you think.
I was thinking . . . today in Fresno it’s going to be really hot. Many people are not going to be able to afford to run their A/C or even swamp coolers. People could actually DIE this week in Fresno - it happened two summers ago. Think of newborn babies whose mothers cannot afford A/C to keep their apt cool. Think of the elderly, people with disabilities, sick people, frail - they could actually die this week while PG&E gives $250,000 to defeat Prop 8.
We really must do something. I feel a FReep coming on . . .
Did you see the photo with this caption:
NCLR’s Kate Kendell gives a “thumbs up” as she joins EQCA’s Geoff Kors and PG&E Vice President Nancy McFadden at the announcement of a $250,000 shareholder donation from PG&E to the No on 8 campaign. The three are joined by members of PG&E’s Pride Network employee group. Photo: Rick Gerharter
So . . . PG&E Vice President Nancy McFadden is yucking it up with her anti Prop 8 pals while people are literally dying from heat exhaustion because they cannot afford to pay for A/C!! Infuriating!!
