Up from 9 pts in June.
Oh...I guess they all got left in Germany.

Whoops! Sorry, I forgot the meat of the story:
“John McCain has now stretched his lead over Barack Obama to 16 points — 52% to 36% — in his home state of Arizona, according to a new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey.
Counting leaners, the gap is even wider, with McCain ahead 57% to 38%.
In late June, McCain led Obama 49% to 40%. That was the first Arizona survey since Hillary Clinton dropped out of the race for the Democratic presidential nomination.”
I can recall asking my fellow Americans that live in AZ not to re-elect this guy.
My how times are a changing.
If we can only block the other 56 states, McCain has this election in the bag.
Well I would hope so. :)
I bet he’s even better in Utah
—McCain, more nuclear, more refineries and more drilling.
—Obama, a tire pressure tester
That’s a rathter anemic lead considering its McCain’s home state. He should have at least a 20 point lead there. BTW back when McCain was runing for his first term to replace Barry Goldwater in the US Senate, his opponents originally were going to attack him as a carpet bagger who had only moved to Arizona a few years before when he married his wealthy wife who is an heiress to a beer distributorship in Arizona. They abandoned that line of attack when McCain reminded them that the place he had lived the longest was Hanoi.
“He should have at least a 20 point lead there”
It’s a NINETEEN POINT spread with leaners. Let me put it another way: McCain is closer in Illinois than Obama is in Arizona.
LOL
Wonder of the Annointed One Obama is going to open up offices in Arizona like he announced he was doing in OK?
“I can recall asking my fellow Americans that live in AZ not to re-elect this guy.”
I did the same thing
McCain, more nuclear, more refineries and more drilling.
Obama, a tire pressure tester
I put air in my tires this weekend. They were a couple of PSI low. Any Freepers in my neighborhood are welcome to come by and do the right thing by airing up their tires. I have an air compressor (a.k.a. gasoline-saving appliance). I don't know if it's Energy-Star compliant. It runs on 220VAC.
That was a bit of a curve ball, you’ve got a good eye.
I haven’t voted for him for over a decade and I’ll never will again - like my vote matters.
WHAT ARE YOU, NUTS OR SOMETHING? ONLY A STUPID IDIOT WOULD THINK THAT WE HAVE 57 STATES. GOOD GOD! IF THE PRESS EVER HEARD YOU SAY SOMETHNG THAT STUPID, THEY WOULD BE ALL OVER YOU; RIDICULING YOU AT EVERY CHANCE. DON'T YOU REMEMBER WHAT HAPPENED TO DAN QUAYLE AND THE POTATO(E) SPELLING BEE. YOU CAN'T GO AROUND ACTING LIKE YOU ARE A DEMOCRAT AND RUNNING FOR PRESIDENTS. (sarcasm off-return to normal reading)
If youve ever seen Cool Hand Luke and remember the song Plastic Jesus, my rewrite may tickle your funny bone.
Obama
Im aint scared of no Osama,
Long as Ive got my own Obama,
Riding on the dashboard of my car.
He says he will save this nation,
All through proper tire inflation.
Add tune ups and I know hell take us far.
You sure need your own Obama,
Listen to his commie drama,
As he taxes all you make or save.
We dont need domestic drilling,
All you need is to be willing,
Give up liberty and be his slave.
Go and get your own Obama,
Hes wiser than the Dalai Lama,
Leading us, to new hope and change.
If you dont see his Marxist leaning,
Then your diaper must need cleaning.
As for me Ill vote for John McCain.
Awesome idea for a McCain fund raiser.
The McCain folks should set up air compressors around the country and use them to draw people to fund raising events.
Obama, the gift who keeps on giving!
All week I read on DailyKos how McCain was poised to lose his own state. Something tells me the KosNazis won’t bother to mention this new poll.
I never thought AZ, or, actually, FL, was a danger spot for McCain. I do think he’s weak in VA, very weak in OH and CO, and running behind Bush in NM and IA. If I was Juan, I’d spend all my time in VA, OH, CO, NH, and either NM or IA. That’s the election. Obviously he doesn’t need all, but you better have a cushion.
With all due respect you keep saying how Ohio is toast, that McCain is “very weak”, and that it is a likely loss and to your credit you’ve been saying this for months. However the latest Ras has McCain up a whopping 10 points there. Please relax on the Ohio bit - we are going to carry it FRiend. And we’d be honored to have your help in doing so.
Oh and we’re not losing Virginia either. Sex ed for kindergarteners doesn’t play there. Nor does voting against barring early release for criminal sex offenders. Nor does anti-DOMA and pro-FOCA rhetoric. Nor does voting against and blocking BAIPA. Nor does his radical anti-gun (now flip-flopping) past. He’s beyond TOAST in Virginia.
You’re forgetting Michigan. We have an excellent shot there, especially if Romney is picked.
In the ‘64 Presidential race Barry Goldwater carried Arizona by only 5000 votes.
Fantastic!
I would love to hear that being sung. I saw that movie but don’t recall the music.
I’ll have to look Plastic Jesus up.
I think you have a winner there.
Let’s see, who would sing it?
It’s and easy tune. If I played guitar I’d record it.
It’s AN easy tune. If I played guitar I’d record it.
I have a great voice but can’t play guitar
I thought that article was talking about Maricopa County, not AZ as a whole.
McCain is not going to win Iowa, period. He did not support Ethanol subsides.
Here's the RCP average, Obama +.5: http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2008/president/oh/ohio_mccain_vs_obama-400.html
Quinnipiac, the most recent, has Obama up two. Now, that's clearly winnable for McCain and given the "Wilder/Bradley" effect, it's entirely possible McCain is ahead.
Further, in case you don't know, casinos are on the ballot in the fall, and they are hugely popular and Strickland (and the Dems, officially) are against them. So that's in McCain's favor if he plays it right. Further, the House GOP guys, esp. Mike Turner and John Boehner, are among the Republicans still speaking in the House for lower gas prices. That info gets out. McCain can do a lot with OH. We'll see.
I'll take your word for VA. Personally, I don't see a Dem winning that state---but then I didn't see Webb winning, either.
USS Gurnard, SSN-662 1976-1980.
“Personally, I don’t see a Dem winning that state-—but then I didn’t see Webb winning, either.”
Exactly. Obama is no Webb. Webb, a former Republican and Reagan secretary, barely beat a blundering incumbent. And he had significantly moderated positions for a national level democrat.
Sorry, I think you are just wrong there. I am confident Mitt will be veep and I can even pinpoint the day I believe he will be picked. (FReepmail me if you are interested.)
Michigan has never been a teaser like, say, NJ. In fact Kerry was showing much stronger leads there and Bush only ended up about 4 pts down. The latest poll has McCain trailing only 44-42 which is historically much closer than MI runs during the general election cycle. We can and will win the state.
