But, but what about all of the Mexican Americans and migrants that are going to vote for Obama?

Oh...I guess they all got left in Germany.

Whoops! Sorry, I forgot the meat of the story:

“John McCain has now stretched his lead over Barack Obama to 16 points — 52% to 36% — in his home state of Arizona, according to a new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey.

Counting “leaners,” the gap is even wider, with McCain ahead 57% to 38%.

In late June, McCain led Obama 49% to 40%. That was the first Arizona survey since Hillary Clinton dropped out of the race for the Democratic presidential nomination.”

The McCain List.

Let this squash the ill-founded rumors that Obama has even a prayer in McCain's home state. He doesn't.

—McCain, more nuclear, more refineries and more drilling.

That’s a rathter anemic lead considering its McCain’s home state. He should have at least a 20 point lead there. BTW back when McCain was runing for his first term to replace Barry Goldwater in the US Senate, his opponents originally were going to attack him as a carpet bagger who had only moved to Arizona a few years before when he married his wealthy wife who is an heiress to a beer distributorship in Arizona. They abandoned that line of attack when McCain reminded them that the place he had lived the longest was Hanoi.

This should put to bed entirely the ridiculous pablum that Obama was closing in on McCain's home state. What a hoot. It's a nineteen point spread folks!

“He should have at least a 20 point lead there”

It’s a NINETEEN POINT spread with leaners. Let me put it another way: McCain is closer in Illinois than Obama is in Arizona.

I put air in my tires this weekend. They were a couple of PSI low. Any Freepers in my neighborhood are welcome to come by and do the right thing by airing up their tires. I have an air compressor (a.k.a. gasoline-saving appliance). I don't know if it's Energy-Star compliant. It runs on 220VAC.

If you’ve ever seen Cool Hand Luke and remember the song “Plastic Jesus”, my rewrite may tickle your funny bone.

Obama

I’m ain’t scared of no Osama,
Long as I’ve got my own Obama,
Riding on the dashboard of my car.

He says he will save this nation,
All through proper tire inflation.
Add tune ups and I know he’ll take us far.

You sure need your own Obama,
Listen to his commie drama,
As he taxes all you make or save.

We don’t need domestic drilling,
All you need is to be willing,
Give up liberty and be his slave.

Go and get your own Obama,
He’s wiser than the Dalai Lama,
Leading us, to new hope and change.

If you don’t see his Marxist leaning,
Then your diaper must need cleaning.
As for me I’ll vote for John McCain.

Awesome idea for a McCain fund raiser.
The McCain folks should set up air compressors around the country and use them to draw people to fund raising events.

Obama, the gift who keeps on giving!

I never thought AZ, or, actually, FL, was a danger spot for McCain. I do think he’s weak in VA, very weak in OH and CO, and running behind Bush in NM and IA. If I was Juan, I’d spend all my time in VA, OH, CO, NH, and either NM or IA. That’s the election. Obviously he doesn’t need all, but you better have a cushion.

With all due respect you keep saying how Ohio is toast, that McCain is “very weak”, and that it is a likely loss and to your credit you’ve been saying this for months. However the latest Ras has McCain up a whopping 10 points there. Please relax on the Ohio bit - we are going to carry it FRiend. And we’d be honored to have your help in doing so.

Oh and we’re not losing Virginia either. Sex ed for kindergarteners doesn’t play there. Nor does voting against barring early release for criminal sex offenders. Nor does anti-DOMA and pro-FOCA rhetoric. Nor does voting against and blocking BAIPA. Nor does his radical anti-gun (now flip-flopping) past. He’s beyond TOAST in Virginia.

I disagree. First, Romney is not going to be veep. Period. Fuggedaboudit. Second, Michigan is a "teaser," along with NJ, WI, and, for some, PA. It's just not going GOP. I don't know why people keep pushing these polls that "only" show McCain down 4-5 in such states, when that always is the final margin for the Dems. When you can find two polls in a row that show McCain literally (not with MOE) tied or ahead in MI, then I'll say you're on to something.

I agree both states are probably McCain, though OH's polls are all over the map. Yes, Ras has McCain up. But Zogby had Blackwell within 5 of Strickland and he lost by 25. I did not say McCain was "toast" in OH. Rather, I said, the polls so far don't show him ahead. It is close.

Here's the RCP average, Obama +.5: http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2008/president/oh/ohio_mccain_vs_obama-400.html

Quinnipiac, the most recent, has Obama up two. Now, that's clearly winnable for McCain and given the "Wilder/Bradley" effect, it's entirely possible McCain is ahead.

Further, in case you don't know, casinos are on the ballot in the fall, and they are hugely popular and Strickland (and the Dems, officially) are against them. So that's in McCain's favor if he plays it right. Further, the House GOP guys, esp. Mike Turner and John Boehner, are among the Republicans still speaking in the House for lower gas prices. That info gets out. McCain can do a lot with OH. We'll see.

I'll take your word for VA. Personally, I don't see a Dem winning that state---but then I didn't see Webb winning, either.

“Personally, I don’t see a Dem winning that state-—but then I didn’t see Webb winning, either.”

Exactly. Obama is no Webb. Webb, a former Republican and Reagan secretary, barely beat a blundering incumbent. And he had significantly moderated positions for a national level democrat.

Sorry, I think you are just wrong there. I am confident Mitt will be veep and I can even pinpoint the day I believe he will be picked. (FReepmail me if you are interested.)

Michigan has never been a teaser like, say, NJ. In fact Kerry was showing much stronger leads there and Bush only ended up about 4 pts down. The latest poll has McCain trailing only 44-42 which is historically much closer than MI runs during the general election cycle. We can and will win the state.
