0bama opposes reparations for slavery

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama opposes offering reparations to the descendants of slaves, putting him at odds with some black groups and leaders.

The man with a serious chance to become the nation's first black president argues that government should instead combat the legacy of slavery by improving schools, health care and the economy for all.

"I have said in the past — and I'll repeat again — that the best reparations we can provide are good schools in the inner city and jobs for people who are unemployed," the Illinois Democrat said recently.

Looks like Barry dosesn't want to reach into his considerably deep pockets and shell out for someone else's "40 acres and a Lexus" after all.

Even Barack is smart enough to realize advocating race based wealth transfer is political suicide. That's what reparations are all about.

Obama doesn’t have to support reparations. The Senate passed an apology, admitting fault, this past week. Now all that’s left is the $$$.

Can someone explain how being 6.25% black qualifies as "the first black president" if it's not enough to even get you listed as a minority anywhere except the LameStreamMedia?

Obama would not be eligible for reparations himself, as his father was a Kenyan (and obviously not the descendant of a slave)

But...he continued...Whitey can give you welfare, pay for your food, your babies, your childcare, health needs, subsidize your housing....etc, etc.

The only thing you'll have to buy is the big cadillac.

I'm soory...but I go into our neighborhoods....Yards are unkept, men sit on the porch drinking beer at noon. The big car sits in front of the house.

And I see this on days that I'm working....and they're not...time after time after time.

I guess he and/or his handlers figured BO would stand to gain more votes from whitey by speaking against monetary reparations than he would lose from voters who are supporting him only because of his color.

Remains to be seen how that works out, eh?

He said he didnt want reparations
What he said is “government programs”
This could range from free college, to free housing etc
I dont trust this weasel one bit.
In the end, it will cost us.

I cant believe it’s 2008 and the racial divide is getting wider and wider. I guess that’s what happens when you sit in the pews of Rev Wright’s church for 20 years.

I say appoint Pat Buchanan czar.

By time he’s through the blacks won’t be owed anything. They’ll probably get a bill in the mail.(g)

You’d have to have read Pat’s article “A brief for Whitey” before you fully understand why he should be appointed “Reparations Czar.”

When reparations are paid, they’ll be called something else, but the effect will be the same. When Whites are less than 50% of the electorate, watch out. Everyone with the slightest greivance will have their hands out. It will be the end of America as we know it.

Right. Barackula will just know what judges to appoint. He can say whatever he wants to us, and we’ll never know the way he vets his judicial nominees.

Obama supporter, Jim Wallis (Sojourners Magazine / "God's Politics Blog") is a Religious Left Leader whose profile is HERE

Wallis wrote this on his blog: "Slavery Apology - One Step Forward" [ towards reparations ]

"..Tuesday, for the first time, the U.S. House of Representatives passed an official apology for slavery and segregation. .."

That depends on what your definition of reparations are. For Obama, investing heavily into urban areas and providing minority scholarships and advantages in hiring, school admittance aren’t considered reparations.

I actually want him to hold a nation wide press conference on this as say the following:

"I will NEVER support reparations for slavery as at the time it was legal and NOONE alive today in the USA is responsible for any past alleged crimes of their forefathers.

And while I am here today I wish to state that I am not a MUSLIM and never will be one again. I am ashamed that I was born into that hate filled death cult, although I will not say as to where I was actually born. The Islam religion, if you can call it that, is a pox upon the Earth and should be thusly removed.

Thank you for attending and all of the MSM donations should be put in the alter at me feet"

obammy is not the one who would write the checks - congress would. He can SAY he doesn't support reparations all he wants - if a bill authorizing reparations ever hit his desk, he would sign it.

Over the last 10 - 20 years many have spoken about the tyranny of the minority. Should obammy - by some insane quirk of fate - become the next POTUS, I predict that we will see tyranny, the like of which has not been seen in this land since George III.

Oh come on, Barry, you are for reparations as is everyone else in Rev Wright’s church.

Yes, and for all who have forgotten, click on the link for the "stylings" of Fr Michael Pfleger on White Entitlement. The buffoonish priest speaks from the heart and voices the sentiments of Obama, his wife, and the entire congregation.

I've often wondered why Obama didn't tank in the polls immediately after the pastor Wright tapes came out. There were a lot of reasons (media bias, mood of the country, the "Obama phenomenon," et al.), but I've thought of one that doesn't get much mention: the tapes were so outrageous that no one could believe they were as bad as they seemed. The American people are amazingly easy-going and tolerant, and will cut you a lot of slack if you mess up or seem odd. Further, ordinary folks who don't follow politics the way we do must've thought, "I must be getting this wrong. It can't be as bad as it seems on those videos. Obama seems like such a nice man. There must be a mistake somewhere or I must be misunderstanding something. No one could be that bad and be nominated for the Presidency."

Over time, it's going to dawn on the average voter that the tapes are indeed as bad as they seemed at first viewing. They are truely indicative of Barack's origins and true opinions. People are disinclined to believe the worst about someone in general, and Americans have this trait to a fault. Once the truth sinks in, however, I think people will leave Barack in droves. I suspect there will be a slow but irreversible shift of support away from him in the polls. McCain's new campaign team is also starting to campaign effectively. Of late, they actually look like they are trying to win this thing!

Can someone explain how being 6.25% black qualifies as "the first black president"...?

Two comments: First, there's the old "one drop of black blood" rule, which today works in reverse. That is, you can claim blackness even if you are mostly white when it suits your purposes. That's a lot like the diluted Indians that benefit from casino money.

Second, and less importantly, how'd you come up with 6.25% for Obama, or 1/16? His dad was very Nigerian. Even if that part of Nigeria participated in the slave trade, he was still a very black guy.

Here in the below paragraph was what he slipped and said a few days ago. I believe this is the way he really feels. But he had to change it to get more votes from Whites. Once he is elected he will do what he wants to.

Ouote from Obama:

“I personally would want our tragic history, or the tragic elements of our history, acknowledged.” said Obama. “I consistently believe that when it comes to whether it’s Native Americans or African-American issues or reparations, the most important thing for the U.S. government to do is not just offer words, but offer deeds.”
