Obama urges voters to go for change

CEDAR RAPIDS - Barack Obama challenged a Cedar Rapids audience to follow their gut and "take a chance on change" when they vote for president this fall.

"Most Americans know in their gut that we've got to change," the presumptive Democratic nominee said at Coe College on Thursday. Billed as an economic security town hall meeting, Obama spent most of his time talking about energy and chiding John McCain and Republicans for a paucity of ideas.

Even McCain knows change is necessary, Obama said, "but the reason they spend all their time talking about me is they just don't have any new ideas."

So instead, they try to scare voters. Republicans tell voters "he's too liberal, he's gonna raise your taxes," Obama said.

"But people know this election is different," Obama said.

This election is different for Paul Schaefer of Iowa City, who described himself as a longtime Republican who is backing Obama.

His friends, Schaefer said, say voting for Obama is too risky "because of his age, his inexperience, his race, even his name."

"That makes people want to make the safe choice," he said, "But to me, this year, that's the riskiest choice."

In a year that has seen more than 400,000 Americans lose their jobs, and one in which the nation has the highest foreclosure rate since the Great Depression, Obama said not making changes is the biggest risk.

"I've often said that this election represents a defining moment in our history," Obama told the Eby Fieldhouse crowd. "For too many Americans, the dream of opportunity is slipping away. That's why the decisions we make over the next few years will shape a generation, if not a century."

Then he criticized McCain for the lack of a serious debate about serious issues.

"So far, all we've been hearing about is Paris Hilton," he said, referring to a McCain ad suggesting Obama is a bigger celebrity than Hilton but equally unprepared to lead the nation. "Is that the best they can come up with?"

Having said that, Obama said he "wasn't interested in getting into a tit-for-tat" with the McCain campaign.

"All of those negative ads that he's running won't do a thing to lower your gas prices," Obama said. "The fact is, these Washington tactics do the American people a disservice by trying to distract us from the very real challenges that we face."

Real challenges like a new energy policy. Although he voted for the Bush energy plan in 2005, which McCain opposed as wasteful and a giveaway to oil companies, Obama said he voted for it "because it provided the biggest boost to alternative energy, including wind power, for example, which has gone up a huge amount as a consequence of the credits in there."

Those credits are up for renewal but being "held hostage by the desire of the oil companies to do more drilling," Obama said.

Obama rejected suggestions the mere discussion of more offshore drilling has driven the price of oil down $20 a barrel.

"What caused that is that people can't afford to drive," he said. "If we could bring immediate relief to the people simply by opening offshore drilling, then I would consider it. The truth of the matter is that gives us a few cents' saving 10 to 12 years from now."

That's too long to wait for change, he said.

"Now is the time to rise above the old politics and a broken energy policy," he said. "Now is the time to move in a bold, new direction that lifts up our economy and secures our country."

"take a chance on change"

What an imbecile. We are not wondering whether we should double down. We are electing a President We can't afford chance nor can we afford the Obamarxist version of change.

If he wasn't chicken and to busy pretending to be president, he could be debating McCain on the issues by keeping his word to debate McCain anytime anywhere.

Barack Obama challenged a Cedar Rapids audience to follow their gut and "take a chance on change"

Louis Farrakhan, at the annual Saviours' Day celebration in Chicago, Feb. 25, 2008: "This young man is the hope of the entire world that America will change and be made better"..."If you look at Barack Obama's audiences and look at the effect of his words, those people are being transformed."

From the Louis Farrakhan/Nation of Islam website, Final Call...
Malik Zulu Shabazz, chairman of the New Black Panther Party for Self-Defense (NBPP):
"We are happy today to be standing side by side with the Nation of Islam. We believe, like the Nation of Islam and the Honorable Elijah Muhammad believe, in a nation of our own. We believe in a Black first philosophy and a Black Liberation Theology. We don’t worry about the criticism. We love all of those who labored in the Panther Party from the ’60s. Many are with us today."

From the article: REVOLUTIONARY HEROES

excerpt...

"On May 1st, May Day [1969], the day of the gigantic Free Huey rally, two of Alioto's top executioners vamped on the brothers from the Brown Community who were attending to their own affairs. These brothers, who are endowed with the revolutionary spirit of the Black Panther Party defended themselves from the racist pig gestapo.

Pig Joseph Brodnik received his just reward with a big hole in the chest. Pig Paul McGoran got his in the mouth which was not quite enough to off him.

The revolutionary brothers escaped the huge swarm of pigs with dogs, mace, tanks and helicopters, proving once again that "the spirit of the people is greater than the man's technology."

To these brothers the revolutionary people of racist America want to say, by your revolutionary deed you are heroes, and that you are always welcome to our camp."

Barack Obama challenged a Cedar Rapids audience to follow their gut and "take a chance on change"

From Barack Obama's official website:

“I wanted to make an art piece of Barack Obama because I thought an iconic portrait of him could symbolize and amplify the importance of his mission. I believe Obama will guide this country to a future where everyone can thrive and I should support him vigorously for the sake of my two young daughters. I have made art opposing the Iraq war for several years, and making art of Obama, who opposed the war from the start, is like making art for peace. I know I have an audience of young art fans and I’m delighted if I can encourage them to see the merits of Barack Obama.

-Shepard Fairey

See? It's all about "peace, love, togetherness" and "change".

Here are some of Fairey's other masterpieces. No joke. Most of his works are along these same lines. Check the link.

From a 'thank you' letter Barack Obama sent to Shepard Fairey:
"Dear Shepard, I would like to thank you for using your talent in support of my campaign. The political messages involved in your work have encouraged Americans to believe they can help change the status quo. Your images have a profound effect on people, whether seen in a gallery or on a stop sign.'"

And when people can't afford to heat their homes then the price of heating oil will come down too?

This genius thinks we can solve the problem by putting air in our tires and getting a tuneup. That's his bold new plan? No new oil from American wells, drilled by American workers who paid America's taxes. No new nuclear plants that generate clean energy. We'll use wind and solar and raise taxes on everything else to pay for it.

What, your car doesn't run on wind or solar? You heat your home with oil or natural gas? I guess you'll just have to wait for that change.

The problem with the message is that McCain is no Bush. So if we pick McCain, we will get change. Not “change we can believe in”, but simply “change”. Some “change for the better”, and some “change for the worse”.

Of course, you don’t believe in “change” you believe in things that you might change to. But Obama not much of a communicative genius.

Shepard Fairey is a capitalist entrepreneur living the American Dream, and is making way too much money with his creativeness. He needs to fork over more to the government. /s
