Hearing the cable talk-show host solemnly pose the question, I could not suppress a belly laugh.
For the anchor was fearful that some white folks might reject Obama because he is African-American -- even as a Rasmussen poll was reporting that Barack is beating McCain among black voters 94 to 1.
What, other than race, explains how Barack rolled up 90-10 margins among black voters while running against Hillary Clinton, wife of the man novelist Toni Morrison dubbed "our first black president"?

Pat’s piece is a long way of saying race is an issues and it is OK for minorities to pack up accordingly, but not whites. We all know that but we don’t have to play along as long as there is a secret ballot. One can vote for whomever for whatever reason and that includes white people.
Of course it is - and 95% of blacks will vote for The One.
However, on a lighter note, I saw an older (60ish) black woman, driving a Cadillac, with a McCain bumper sticker today.
In Maryland.

Let’s see now — we voted for Alan Keyes when he ran in Illinois.
In a heartbeat I’d vote for Condi Rice or Colin Powell.
But Obama. No way. No way. He doesn’t know what he’s talking about. He’s running around the country making promises that he can’t deliver.
And the dumbest thing yet is to take the profits from the oil companies and give everybody a $1,000 check. And after he’s gutted the companies of their profits and they are no longer in business because he’s gonna redistribute their profits to the poor people who don’t work, where are the taxpayers going to find jobs if the companies have to fold up. And if taxpayers aren’t working, where will the government get its money?
Wake up. There is no Santa Claus. He said he didn’t give his kids Christmas presents but he’s running around with this huge Santa Claus complex.

Well if Pat is able to put out two good essays a day, then that is better than the vast majority of the chattering class.

Well, I voted for Keyes against Obambi in 2004. I’d vote for Condi before I’d ever vote for Powell, who I never did care for. Now, if I have the chance to vote for Walter Williams or Thomas Sowell, now we’re talking!

Sowell would be good at just about anything. Including president.
