You've probably heard the story about the tycoon who wanted to bring out a new kind of dog food.
He spent lavishly. He hired the best marketing person, the top PR firm, the best ad agency, the No. 1 packaging expert, the most powerful distributor -- but the sales were flat after six months.
He summoned his consultants to a meeting and asked why the food wasn't selling. "The dogs won't eat it," was the answer that came back.
And so it is with Mitt Romney. Despite outspending his rivals by huge margins throughout the primaries, the dogs won't eat it. He lost Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina, Florida and California. The only primaries he won were in Michigan, where Dad was governor; LDS states; and a few states on Super Tuesday in which his California-obsessed rivals couldn't spare the cash to advertise. Only John Connolly in 1968 had a worse cash-to-delegates ratio.
And John McCain rightly did not like Romney's tactics during the primaries. Using his gigantic money advantage to dominate television, he seized early leads in virtually all of the primary states, only to lose them later on. And, when they started slipping away, he resorted to unfair, distorted, scorched-earth negative ads, betting that his opponents couldn't afford to spend enough for the truth to catch up to his charges.

Powell, Rice, Lieberman and Huckabee are also unacceptable.
Forget the Morman and the Arkansasn
Then who?
Add Crist, Ridge, and Lindsey Graham to the list.
Calling all Romney bashers...
McCain is a mistake all by himself.
Morris is so full of it...remember who he worked for.
Dick Morris gets it right for a change about Slick Willard, but gets it wrong for the other RINO (or rodent) choices for VP.
who pray tell oh genius do you suggest
John Kasik
John Thune
Rob Portman
Eric Cantor
Mike Pence
Chris Cox
Haley Barbour
Carly Fiorina (a maybe)
Mike Pence, James Inhofe.
What about Duncan Hunter?
Dick Morris has officially lost his mind. Badness of his advice can only mean one thing: He is for Obama.
Condi = Bush = 80% disapproval rating
Powel = Will Endorse Obama anytime now
Leiberman = Unless McCain wants to win the Presidency of some BINGO club, putting equally dull and old looking dude on the ticket wouldn’t make much sense.
Romney can raise upto 50 million dollars. He can’t out-raise Obama, but he doesn’t have to. Hillary couldn’t either, but she almost managed to pull it off. Obama can’t buy his way to WH. All McCain has to do in terms of money is remain within striking distance and he is doing a reasonable job of that.
Michigan is only polling couple of points higher for Obama and there are 3 and half months to go.
Romney can tip the scale in McCain’s favor.
Remember Obama went into Texas couple of points ahead....
Romney has some pull in Nevada and Colorado. He can bring those to the McCain’s column as well.
More importantly he looks like he is alive.
McCain needs to give Huck or some OTHER Southerner a prominent role in the campaign to HOLD Virginia, North Carolina and Georgia.
If not McCain then I-Carly!
Yeah she is filthy rich, so is Romney.
However, she is a hot Woof, and Hildabeast lovers may just not be able to resist her.
the blonde who worked for Nixon and Colmes’ sister in law said tonight if mccain didn’t pick Mitt she was gonna run in the streets in sixth avenue,
Mitt is her “sexy pic”...lolol and I AGREE!
I guess Dick agrees with you.
Every single one of those names are boring. I do not see McCain having success with his own base if he does not choose a candidate that can draw votes from the middle.
Sure.
Duncan Hunter
Jeff Sessions
Tom Coburn
Pawlenty? He just doesn’t do it for me. He seems squishy and a mini rino.
It would take a lot more than that in the South with Romney on the ticket.
Mark Sanford.
He is.
“Powell, Rice, Lieberman, Huckabee — but not Romney!”
What are you talking about, Dick? This is the “Condi vs. Hillary” election. You mean they aren’t going to be the nominees like you predicted in that book?
So, based on your most recent analysis, you think McCain should select Powell, Rice or Lieberman? Two liberals, and maybe even three. And Condi can’t even say aloud who she intends to vote for after praising Obama.
Based on Dick’s analysis, Romney seems far and away the strongest possible VP selection.
i thought of that!
but i was too polite to say it.
i think.
i would say that.
I’ll take boring of smarmy and phony.
That would be Monica Crowley...I’m with you both. I want Mitt. ;)
In other words, it's basically a lost cause.......
MITT MATCH
While Mitt Romney’s set of paid PR minions are busy pushing out Mitt for Vice President spin, McCain campaign insiders say that while it’s true they have polled Romney on the bottom of the ticket, the data confirms that such a move would be a political disaster for the party.
“Mitt tanks the ticket,” says a McCain insider. “We lose fiscal conservatives. We lose social conservatives. We lose Catholics. We lose evangelicals. All the groups were spending time and money on bringing into the camp would be lost. He just doesn’t help us enough to do something like this, as much as Mitt might think we should. He doesn’t even win us Massachusetts.”

(Like a broken clock, Dick’s right about Slick Willard)

Any real Republican or conservative with a hope of a career in politics should stay away from the VP slot this time around.
There is going to be a bloody massacre in November and the smart thing to do is be as far away from it as possible.
I heard Morris predict on BOR tonight that his prediction for VP is Tom Ridge. I hope not. Ridge is a bore.
Outside of Romney, I like John Thune and Pawlenty.
I am very conservative and I would support Romney in either slot -- over whomever the Dems run.
H. Clinton. If she will take it. Mark my words.
I am not sure Tommy Boy would help all that much even in PA.
If Dick Morris says one thing, the complete opposite will happen.
I give a fat rat's ass what this fat pig says.
If he were in range, I'd probably do something really stupid.
Once again Dick shows us how dumb he is.
McCain has already said how he would pick someone who is pro life.
Ridge is pro abortion.
End of story.
If McCain picks Ridge, I won’t cast a vote for McCain.
GOP needs a *real* Conservative Rock Star! / per Michael Reagan - Feb? 2008
Radio Host Jason Lewis is the conservative Rock Star! Let's let all the hot-shots with their vast govt. experience be the advisors, I want the hot-shot *Conservative Communicators* with character ON The Ticket!
My suggestions: GOP Primary 2008: Need Fresh Faces & New Talent = Gregg Cunningham / Jason Lewis

There is one VP nominee that McCain could chose that would insure that Obama is our next president. That is Mitt Romney. I like Romney but Evangelicals will not vote for a Morman. No Republican can win without the evangelicals.

The potential ticket?
Just one more in a long list of mistakes.
You rang? ;-)
“He just doesnt help us enough to do something like this, as much as Mitt might think we should. He doesnt even win us Massachusetts.
And what genius ever thought Mitt would win Mass. for a Republican ticket? If that’s the possibility McCain people have been contemplating, they need a new team of analysts. No serious person would ever think Mitt or any Republican could pull Mass. away from the Dems. in a presidential election.
I saw the thread where this McCain insider supposedly relayed all that information. But, as McCain lovers as so apt to say. Where else are they gonna go? Do they think Mitt puts southern states into the Obama column?
I put little or no value on that so-called insider report. Mitt would be the best campaigner, and he campaigned little in the south earlier. He could win over many conservatives if he actually campaigned in their states and spoke to their concerns.
No matter who it is it will not be good enough even though the VP slot means almost nothing in terms of substance. So I ask who else other than Romney has natural stature and will help elect McCain? I'm sure there are others but who are they?
To bad Fred Thompson would not take the job of VP ..... is it to late for Fred to take the job ?
Of course there are no suggestions, just complaints and griping.
