Savage has a habit of being MIA on Wednesdays. Add to the fact that he is taking heavy hits for his comments on Autism, it wouldn’t shock me if he laid low today, and maybe even the balance of the week.

We will know in a few minutes.

I think he was shocked at teh venom he received. I think he got hammered pretty bad on ADD a while back, also. Proved right on ADD.

Unlike those born autistic, and therefore do have an excuse, Michael Savage is merely braindead. It’s just that now everyone is finally catching onto it.

As the father of an autistic child, I would like to tell Michael Savage to Go to Hell.

Savage clearly has a point that stuff like that is over diagnosed but he stepped in it when he said 99% of cases are not genuine.

Iwas listening that day, as always, and I knew he wasn’t speaking literally. That was his way of saying most cases are probably instances of agressive doctors over diagnosing the condition. AndI think he is right, no question about it.

He got caught with that sound bite of him saying 99%. Still, his point is clear and I agree with it. Parents with children diagnoses as autistic probably aren’t too happy to hear that their child could do more to improve themselves, and that the fault is not always about being dealt a bad hand of genetic cards.

SAVAGE RULES!

As you know, I observed yesterday on how political correctness that is trying to silence not just Savage, but anyone who would try to warn parents of those trying to exploit normal parental concern for their kids.

I have come up with a slogan that I hope Dr. Savage takes up as his own (or at least something similar).

In fact, we could all benefit from snarling that at liberals each time they seem ready to parole too soon those convicted of doing real harm.

The last couple of days was the Savage that I remember from most of the past 12 years. Does not seem that long but I started listening from the beginning of conservative-talk KSFO.

His enemies are up to their ears in egg.

But how long can he keep the vigor going?

He needs to pick a future quiet period and retire. Enjoy his well deserved rewards.

He was the trail blazer that showed conservatives that being called names DID NOT mean you had to shut up, grovel and 'splain. Give 'em hell, Michael! Thanks!

Savage Rules? Surely, your post is satire. Right...?

My son is in his mid-20’s. He is autistic. Believe me when I say he wasn’t misdiagnosed on three different occasions 20-some years ago.

What’s Savage’s excuse for his idiocy? (You don’t have to answer - it’s a purely rhetorical question!) I think Michael Savage is merely brain dead - and I’ve thought that for a long, long, time, actually. Now, he’s merely proving the point for everyone to see.

Savage was not talking about you and your son. He was talking about people who essentially rob you of resources because far too many children are being classified as autistic but are not.

Dr. Thomas Sowell has written of the problem, organizations serving the needs of autistic children, and experts on the illness agree that too many are declared autistic but are not.

Wouldn’t waste the time, a dime, or a cell phone minute on that Bozo.

Anyone who says 99% of autism diagnoses are BS is incapable of having a sensible conversation. Hell, my comment that he is brain dead is every bit as valid as his “99%” claim.

I think you’re pretty close to explaining. I addressed the same issue today at this thread http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/bloggers/2050065/posts?page=35#35

Rewording:

“Who can claim to never have exaggerated to make a point? Who would believe you? Savage already said his 99% was overstated.

He is correct that there are charlatans looking to exploit every opportunity that comes along. Most adults know this unless they’ve been slyly misdirected.

You cannot legitimately deny that Savage is warning parents to be skeptical about this latest expansion of the number of autism sufferers. From what has been allowed to come to light, this “Autism spectrum” could be fanned out to include everyone and anyone at some time.”

That appears the reasonable reading of what Savage said. Why are these PC monsters REALLY trying to shut Savage down?

Insist to them: Stop trying to silence watchdogs. Start punishing criminals.

Ummmm, if you'd listened to Savage on daily basis you'd know that he uses hyperbole to get his point across from time to time.

He did the same thing when some illegal aliens went on a "hunger strike" as a means to get a free education or whatever freebie it was that they wanted. --

Your comment that he is brain dead ought to be turned on its head and thrown back at you.

Do I have to be a doctor to have a similar conversation? No, of course not.

Again, my claim that Savage is brain dead is every bit as valid as his claim that 99% of autism diagnoses are BS.

As I stated in an earlier post, anyone who makes that “99% is BS” claim is incapable of having a sensible conversation on the topic of autism. I’ll also add that such a claim makes his opinion on autism less than “meaningful.”

Enough time wasted on Michael Savage today. Time for me to take a shower.

I knew you understood.

What should be more important? Being STUNG by a comment should be considerably less of an issue than those who would exploit the opportunity to pigeon-hole kids simply to further their own agenda.

Political Correct thinking is dangerous. Raising an issue over feelings while silencing warnings of real threats is suspect at best.

“If you don’t like Savage, that’s fine. I just find your medical diagnosis that Dr Savage is brain dead to be very overstated.”

Of course my comment that Michael Savage is brain dead is overstated - just as is his claim that “99%” of autism diagnoses are BS is overstated. THAT is precisely my point, and that is why my claim that Savage is brain dead is every bit as valid as the claim he made: Niether of them are true.

Still can’t stand that Bozo, though. NOW, it’s time for me to take a shower.

The larger issue is that people are just too delicate these days.

It’s funny to me that in an era where the pat line is that people are strong, independent, good self esteem, etc,, they are so delicate that they wilt whenever they hear something they disagree with (as the threshold for being ‘offended’ is so low these days).

I don’t see what the big deal is in Savage’s case.

I just got a phone call about a friend of mine whose sister is trying to armchair diagnose my friend’s daughter as autistic.

My friend just had her second child a month ago and the older child (approx 2 yrs old) adjusting as well as can be expected, IMO. She talks appropriately for her age, she’s a nice little girl. I’m praying that the stupid comment is ignore and they just go on with adjusting with the new addition to the family without stigmatizing the older child as “autistic”. I was much more “autistic” at 2 yrs old than this kid will ever, ever be.

“Autistic spectrum”!! What a load!

I remember Joe Pyne's TV show but I did not know until a few years ago that he had a national radio call-in show (500 stations I believe). In Cincinnati in those days there were some pretty good local radio talk shows so I wasn't looking.

Mr. Pyne was a W.W.II Marine who was disabled (owing to leg wounds ) and would give back the gruff received from the liberals of the day. He was a critic of JFK. Everyone I knew was also.

His "autism" moment happened on 22 Nov., 1963.

"Crucify him! JFK critics provoked the assassination! Off with his show!"

The "Fairness Doctrine" of course was the nuclear weapon.

Even without the "Fairness Doctrine" they try.

Here: "Pyne spoke out against racial discrimination and supported the Vietnam War, ridiculing hippies (a favorite target), homosexuals, and feminists. Though generally a conservative, Pyne came out in favor of labor unions. But his constant tendency towards insult and vitriol offended most of the critics, who called him "outrageous" and described him as "belligerent" and "self-righteous."[5] Groups like the Anti-Defamation League accused him of catering to bigots. Audiences, however, kept listening and watching. Joe Pyne was difficult to ignore."

After the nation's "sensitive" and willingly-ignorant listeners screamed Pyne off the air (he died in 1970, I believe) it took Savage to show again that people who know the true meaning of free speech and unalienable rights are "difficult to ignore."

Even without the "Fairness Doctrine" still they try.

The larger issue is that people are just too delicate these days.

You hit on a key point.

People are encouraged to be delicate. They are encouraged by those who want to claim they are the delicate one's protectors. They crave the power over you and those they claim to protect.

Simple example:
