That is because CO₂ was never perceived as the problem in the first place. It was anybody making a buck out of the conversion of hydrocarbons in any form to carbon dioxide and water they find so unappealing.

Some 99.95% of the "fears" expressed are based on some very bad interpretations taken from a poorly researched "science" fiction novel.
