May this good man Rest in Peace. May our good Lord comfort his family in their grief.

BLESSED IS THE MAN WHO TRUSTS IN THE LORD,
AND WHOSE HOPE IS THE LORD.
( JEREMIAH 17:7 *NKJV )

We all have hopes and dreams for our future, for life would be very difficult without them.

There are two other threads on this topic - one immediately before mine and one earlier this morning.

My apologies I didn’t see the very first one and the one just before me was being posted the same time as mine.

I am still trying to wrap my mind around the fact Tony Snow has gone.

Roger Ailes of Fox this morning said the Lord would have a great Press Secretary now.

Honorable man, honorable media person. Thoughts and prayers to his family.

I wonder if the rest of the networks will make the big hoopla as they did it when Tim Russert passed away. I doubt it... Afterall, they could not comprehend integrity hence they couldn't comprehend Mr. Snow.

But, we know what a great man that Tony was, don't we.

So far, the other networks have dona a pretty good job of memorializing Tony.

Yeah. Could somebody wake Drudge up and let him know...I guess he doesn’t consider it news worthy. Not even a footnote on his page....shame

Matt has the news on his site, maybe he just woke up. Saturdays in Miami are quite lazy, I am telling you this as a South Floridian. We tend to take our time and smell the coffee (and a croissant) on Coconut Grove or SoBe restaurants :)

Indeed. Tony was a class act, even in those few areas where you didn't agree with him, you never disliked or distrusted him.

I got to meet Tony, briefly, in the WH in 2006. Never got to talk to him at length. And yet the likes of Ted Kennedy and Ginsburg seem to just chug along.

God Bless you, Mr Snow ... Journalism will miss you ... FRee Republic has missed you since you went to the White House.

May you be rushed to His side and may your family take comfort from their certainty of your real Goodness and Eternal Freedom from pain.

I cannot stop the tears, even though I am certain of his Place with Our Saviour and assured of His Place through our shared Faith.

I've been wiping away tears, too. Damned cancer.

Something I put on the other thread:

Looking through Tony's comments on FR, I found the thread about Tony's review of D'Souza's response to the new atheist tracts. The thread is titled New Atheists Are Not So Great. In it, Tony made a comment that I think is particularly poignant:

"Of course atheists feel pangs of emotion. They grieve, they laugh, they cry, they show up to hug and console. But when it comes to having something substantive to say, something that would provide consolation — that life has meaning; that one doesn’t simply occupy space for a time and then decompose; that there are great overarching principles that give life its depth, joy, texture and purpose; and that those principles arise not from artifice or practice, but from a Creator whose central principle is love — when it comes to making these arguments and more, the atheist must remain mute. They still can and do hug and cry. But they cannot argue that life is anything other than an accident and death, the end of everything..."

Tony had the personality of a Ronald Reagan, warm, handsome, optimistic, incredibly positive. It was really impossible not to like him.

He will be missed.

A few posts back I penned a rather harsh assessment of how I feel about Barrack Obama. In short, I said there is absolutely nothing about the man that I find admirable.

Now I have the sad task of penning another assessment of a man, but this time the joy of being able to say just the opposite! There is nothing about Tony Snow that I didn't find admirable. What a wonderful comparison of two American lives.

Read the words of Psalm 1, and even though it was written over two thousand years ago you've got to know its writer had Tony Snow in mind:

1 Blessed is the man
who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked
or stand in the way of sinners
or sit in the seat of mockers.

2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD,
and on his law he meditates day and night.

3 He is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither.
       Whatever he does prospers.

 4 Not so the wicked!
       They are like chaff
       that the wind blows away.

5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.

6 For the LORD watches over the way of the righteous
but the way of the wicked will perish.

What a sad day gladdened only by the knowledge that he is at home with is Creator. God bless him and his family.

Cal Thomas:

“In the old CBS TV show “Touched by an Angel,” Andrew, the angel of death once said: “Death is nothing to fear, but it is something to prepare for.” Tony was prepared and now he rejoices in another and better place with the Lord he loved. It is now my privilege and that of all those who knew Tony to pray for and care for Jill and their wonderful children.”

Lovely replies on this topic which I threw on the forum in early morning fog and haste. Thank you for making it worthy after all - I was ashamed I did a disservice to a man I have admired for years.

Snow raised the bar on news folk and those who make their living writing, creating, seeking, broadcasting and ‘twisting information’ for the public. In addition, he was able to maintain a fair and objective posture when arguing, debating, or sharing viewpoints with others - a rare sight of a personality not taking things personally.

The world of news has a large empty spot at the table and he was such a unique person, I doubt his spot can be filled.

Confession time: It is hard not to get angry at the Grand Plan of who is taken from us when they are in their life prime - but Tony Snow was one of those people I felt could always keep a solid hand on the reigns for us - and that we could trust his message.

A good and beautiful man has been called home.

I will miss him terribly.

Fox News Sunday will probably have a great tribute for Tony Snow, because Tony Snow used to host that show. Don’t miss it this morning at 9 a.m., ET. You can even watch it if you don’t have cable.
