Tony Snow, Former White House Press Secretary and FOX News Anchor, Dies at 53

Tony Snow, the former White House press secretary and conservative pundit who bedeviled the press corps and charmed millions as a FOX News television and radio host, has died after a long bout with cancer. He was 53.
A syndicated columnist, editor, TV anchor, radio show host and musician, Snow worked in nearly every medium in a career that spanned more than 30 years.
Snow joined FOX in 1996 as the original anchor of FOX News Sunday, and hosted Weekend Live and a radio program, The Tony Snow Show, before departing in 2006. A sometime fill-in host for Rush Limbaugh, Snow said he loved the intimacy of his radio audience.
"It's a tremendous loss for us who knew him, but it's also a loss for the country," Roger Ailes, Chairman of FOX News, said Saturday morning about Snow, calling him a "renaissance man."
As a TV pundit and commentator for FOX News, Snow was often critical of President Bush before he became Bush's third press secretary in 2006, following Ari Fleischer and Scott McClellan. He was an instant study in the job, mastering the position — and the White House press corps — with apparent ease.

It is sad, he was a truly nice guy and a class act.
Tony Snow was a good man and we will all miss his charm, wit, and grace. May he rest in peace and may his family always know that he loved them and cared so deeply for them. May God grant them His love and watch over them. I am truly saddened by his passing.
Prayers for his family - Tony won’t need prayers where he is now, glorified. Hopefully Fox will celebrate his life big-time tomorrow. Russert was a good fellow - Tony was the best.

Terrible news. My mom died on colon cancer, my dad of liver cancer and as a result, I’m monitored with twice a year physicals and quarterly blood tests.
I just heard that Tony’s mom died of colon cancer when he was 17.

I was lucky enough to meet Tony a couple times including lunch with just three people.
He was absolutely as nice and decent a guy in person as he seemed on camera.

Sad news indeed. I first learned of him when he was at the Detroit News.
We’ve lost a dear, good hearted soul. He is surely in a better place now. Condolences to his family. May they be comforted by their faith in God.

Tony spoke at CPAC this past year and was so optimistic. Said we are blessed to live in a country were medical care was so good it gave him another chance at life. If only he had more time. I will miss him. He was one of the good guys.
It’s certainly a sad day here in America. Prayers for his family. At least he’s with God now and he’s no longer suffering.

So sad. This has been a very bad few days for me. On Wednesday, I learned my cousin’s son has cancer, and yesterday I had to have my 10-year old dog/best friend put to sleep, and now to wake up to the news about Tony Snow. It’s very upsetting.
Tony was such a wonderful guy, or so he seemed. He was a gift to the Bush administration during his tenure as the press secretary. Such a contrast to the inept Scott McClellan.

Absolutely heartbreaking! Tony was one of my favorite conservatives and I just adored him.
Many of us used to follow his show on the Tony Snow threads.As a Freeper he would often chime in. You could tell what a class act he was.
Yet another irreplaceable loss, to say he will be missed is trite yet more than true. God be with him.
