Keep in mind AIDS has killed millions while Ebola has killed less than a 1000.

That's because Ebola kills fast.

We have spent more money prolonging the lives of HIV infected patients on a per capita patient basis than on cancer, heart disease, lung disease, diabetes, and Alzheimers combined fighting a disease easily prevented by altering behavior.

I guess the gay lobby is pretty effective.

And Ebola is not much of a threat. In fact, the african villagers largely figured out how to control the spread by simple quarantine, avoiding contact with the infected, and the 40% that survived developed long-lived immunity. Homosexuals in this country with HIV were not subjected to rules of epidemic control and some intentially spread the disease to others. The funding was achieved by homosexuals and homophiles in hollywood. AS an aside, male homosexuals are the #1 vector for the spread of human disease and those that develop AIDS are also the number one source of superbugs with multidrug resistance which is a threat to the general public health. Absent the hollywood support this behavior would never be allowed in most civilized countries; this is even so in muslim countries.

It refers to the way the protein stands stands out from the body of the virus. Here is an example from the SIV virus:

Thanks, I figured that’s what the writer meant. He just made it sound like “glyco” = “spike,” which is incorrect. No big deal.

(The human immunodeficiency virus, HIV, that causes AIDS also has this trait.)

"We have spent more money prolonging the lives of HIV infected patients on a per capita patient basis than on cancer, heart disease, lung disease, diabetes, and Alzheimers combined fighting a disease easily prevented by altering behavior. Go figure."

I was discussing that very thing with a co-worker today. It's astonishing the amount of money we spend on AIDS compared to cancer, given how many people have cancer compared to AIDS. In almost all cases AIDS is TOTALLY a disease of risky behavior, while cancer tends to be much more random, with the people afflicted doing nothing to bring it onto themselves(in most cases).

People have bought the marketing of deviance thanks to the old media and hollywood. There is a queer in every network show that is portrayed as normal and intelligent. Never a mention about the diseases they spread or their practice of fecal ingestion by various disgusting and perverted acts. Most people think it is all about the will and grace show.
