Rally Memo From: Leni Riefenstahl To: Barack Hussein (dare I say it?) Obama Subject: Ideas for the rally
Dear Mr. Obama: I've been reading of your plans for the Invesco Field mass rally in Denver. I've had some experience documenting such things and am delighted to offer my suggestions. You are the one I've been waiting for.

I didn’t even know they got newspapers in hell.
Of course, the big difference between Frau Riefenstahl and
“Camp Obama” is that Riefenstahl had a sciintilla of credibility.
One of the commentors from the A-T site posted the following, which is pertinent:
[”...Ideas in themselves are timeless. They are not tied to individuals, much less to a people. They rest in a people, it is true, and affect their attitudes. Ideas, people say, are in the clouds. When someone comes along who can put in words what everyone feels in their hearts, each feels: “Yes! That is what I have always wanted and hoped for.” That is what happens the first time one hears one of Hitler’s major speeches. I have met people who had attended a Hitler meeting for the first time, and at the end they said: “This man put in words everything I have been searching for for years. For the first time, someone gave form to what I want.” Others are lost in confusion, but suddenly someone stands up and puts it in words. Goethe’s words become reality: “Lost in silent misery, God gave someone to express my suffering.”]
From “Erkenntnis und Propaganda” by J. Goebbels
Hail Obama, Hail Victory!
Sounds like this might come out like the '08 version of the Paul Wellstone Memorial Partisan Pep Rally.Which was, after all, similar in that its structure denied the legitimacy of any opposition.
The Obama campaign keeps saying we should talk about issues. But the entire campaign is built on irrationality, like this acceptance speech in a football stadium.
I wonder who is being contracted to provide the pyrotechnics and the blue smoke?
I’ve thought for some time now that McCain’s strategy was to stand back, keep out of the way and let this empty suit shoot himself in the foot.
This article itself already is considered lost due to Godwin’s Law.
Comparing Obama to Hitler is not going to win the GOP any votes. We might as well place the name Bush in the article and post it on DU. Pure stupid drivel for true right-wing wackos.
Yep, this video starts off in the dark at first and then it begins...

Oh, I REALLY love this article!! This lady writer has a marvelous sense of historical parity. I printed it off to show my sisters.
Great graphics :)
Well it is somewhat reassuring to think McCain has a strategy....thanks for your positive outlook.
And no one could ever say that Bush swayed the masses with his inspiring speeches!
btt
Hell? I thought she got tenure at UCLA when she died.
Apparently you haven’t seen the Party propaganda of Shepherd Fairey and others, you haven’t seen the Obama Youth site or the call on Obama’s own website for Kids for Obama to bring mama und papa to the polls to vote for Fearless Leader. You must’ve missed Maxine Waters’ call to nationalize the Oil industry. You must’ve missed all of the brownshirt attacks on homes, cars, physical person, and campaign offices in the 2004 election when Democrats ran wild (look up the keyword electionviolence). You must’ve missed Harry Knowles’ “aintitcoolnews” website review of Fahrenheit 9-11 where he admitted that it was propaganda and that he was a big fan of propaganda movies (especially when he agrees with the goal, ousting Boosh).
Civil debate is not dead and neither is satire but the wolf is at the door and you need to realize that the same people who rioted in 1968, shot police, bombed government buildings and plotted the assassination of elected US politicians to end the Vietnam war now OWN and RUN the DNC and their stump turtle poster boy.
Judging from reports available to me, they do have WiFi. (Apologies to Mark Twain.)
A distinction without a difference. I heard UW Madison, where all good Nazis go when they get tenure.

Sorry, no. Godwin's Law provides an explicit exemption when a comparison or analogy is appropriate. There is very little about Bush that would reasonably compare to Hitler.
Clearly the whole spectacle of a huge outdoor rally lead by a charismatic leader immediately invokes the image of Nuremberg, except to the historically tone deaf.
Hitler was an “idealist”. He was also a socialist, a vegetarian, a teatotaller, an antichristian who espoused a preverse, self-serving form of Christianity, a non-smoker, a drug abuser, a hypochondriac, childishly sentimental, a dilettante and a sexual deviant. He was enthralled by a superficial and superstitious naturalism. If he were alive today and living in Wisconsin, hed be on the liberal arts faculty of a third rate community college.
You’re from MA and you’re picking on Wisconsin? ROFL
Note: For the purpose of this post the word "liberal" is synonymous with "socialist".
New England liberalism, epitomized by Ted Kennedy, is, for the most part, an entirely different strain from the Midwestern variety, epitomized by Eugene Debs. The Midwestern variety, centered on the concerns of industrial labor, seems to me, has more in common with the Nazis than the New England variety, which is centered on the concerns of academics. Liberals (socialists) have always had no problem finding common ground in their struggle against free markets and genuine freedom.
Liberals (socialist) easily fall into thrall with foreign tyrants, primarily because they are enemies of the domestic institutions they resent, but also because beneath the surface, they lust for power and admire those who seize it.
Obama, like Bill Clinton, does not fit into any particular liberal camp. While Clinton was little more than an opportunist who attached himself to whatever issues he found convenient, Obama harbors mild grievances whose solution is a radical restructuring of his society. The trivialness of his grievances and superficiality of his understanding of his own country, its history and institutions will not limit the damage he will be able to inflict.
Well, it’s an interesting theory.
Don’t miss this fine piece by Fund today if you want to see what the American left is planning for this election.
