Virginia’s Warner, Like Webb, Saying No to Obama VP Spot
Fox News ^ | July 8, 2008

Posted on 07/09/2008 1:27:28 AM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Former Virginia Gov. Mark Warner reiterated Tuesday that he is not interested in being Barack Obama’s running mate, citing a desire to spend time with his family in an interview with Washingtonpost.com.

Warner, who is running for the open U.S. Senate seat in Virginia, said in June at his state’s Democratic convention that he would not seek a spot on Obama’s ticket.

What's going on here? All the "moderate/centrist" democrats want nothing to do with the coming ticket, while flakes like John Edwards are begging to be Obama's running mate. I smell trouble for the democrats. You can best believe these men would jump on the bandwagon if they thought Senator Obama was going to win this Fall! Internal polling must be quite different from what we're seeing!

This is beginning to sound like rats avoiding the ship entirely before it goes down.

If Obama can't attract a reasonably decent Veep, I think it's a sure sign the rats have sided with Hillary and the words is out that she'll knock him out at the convention.

And then Bingo: she escapes several months of media scrutiny and is close enough to the election for the tyranny of CFR to stiffle the people from saying anything about it.

personally i think they know even if he wins, it will be a train wreck of a presidency and no one wants the eternal tag of being a VP for the worst failures since carter...

It will be interesting to see who else takes their names out. Warner was a no go all along as he seems to be a shoe in for Senate plus didn’t want to run for the top of the ticket anyway and I have to wonder if Webb was under serious consideration despite the chatter given his previous stance on women in the military (and accompanying statements) and his pedophile books. It’s bad enough that Obama may be a coke using homo. No need to add a pedophile to the ticket. Webb may have been trying to save face by taking his name out preemptively.

sorry for the double post...

and the other issue is they know he is a one trick pony...so if obama is elected— the next one is definitely republican...so any VP is tarred with the obama failures...and lests be honest they will be many and often...

they may be turning it down, or they may have been told they’re out of the running, and being allowed to withdraw their names as a courtesy. Based on this and some other news items, it sounds like to me that Obama already has his guy, and they’re just waiting to announce it.

Hillary’s people stopped the coverage. They don’t like it when their failures are broadcasted.

Food for thought.

Webb and Warner know that in southern, central, and western Virginia, Obama is radioactive, and if they were on his ticket and he ultimately lost the election, then their political careers would be over.

Unfortunately, I think whoever wins, it will be a train wreck: the good things about McCain will never see the light of day due to the House and Senate; while Obama will be so incompetent as to make Herbert Hoover look like Einstein. We are in for a bad patch.

I think there are many things factoring into this:

1) Webb and Warner both know Obama won’t carry Virginia. Even with them on the ticket.

2) They may be stepping out of the way for Governor Hinky Eyebrow. But I can’t see him stepping down and letting Bill Bolling become Governor (unless it’s just to screw over Bob McDonnell)

3) They both know that they can run for Senate in Virginia without a thorough investigation into their past. But they can’t do that as VP candidates.

4) Hillary called.

I thought it was going to be Clark, but he blew his chances when he attacked McCain. Sebelius is getting a lot of press coverage as a potential. I think a lot of these folks, after meeting with the obamanation find him to be too elite and a meglomaniac. They want nothing to do with him.

Virginians owe it to themselves to do a better job vetting folks like Ol' HorseFace, Marky-Mark Warner. If he wants to spend more time with his family, why is he running for the Senate?? Is he telling Virginians he thinks being a US senator is a part time job? Of course voters in that state are easily swayed I guess since they threw out Sen Allen for the flimsiest of reasons.

The Friends discussed a possibility where Mrs. Clinton is present at the convention and ends up with the nomination--which I am predicting will be the case. (it was in the early hour and my dvr won't rewind that far) I am sure August will cast new light on Barry Hussein. Chuck Hagel was discussed as a VP choice for Barry...they can have him.

"Mark Warner's Clinton Problem!!"

"Is Mark Warner trying to skirt a bimbo eruption?"

"The former Virginia governor has decided not to run for president in 2008, saying he doesn't want to spend precious moments away from his wife and three daughters. "This is the right time for me ... to have a life for a little while," said Warner, considered to be the only Democrat with any chance of taking on Hillary Clinton. But the man the New York Times declared in March to be "The Anti-Hillary" might actually have a lot in common with her husband.

D.C. insiders are speculating that his surprise pull-out may have been sparked by concerns that alleged past sexual indiscretions could derail his campaign—especially in the midst of the Mark Foley feeding frenzy. "I can't believe no one has mentioned his philandering," a former political aide tells Radar, adding that she herself was subjected to Warner's advances in the late '90s and had heard "stories about Mark and many interns."

"This can't be isolated. I have to believe this stuff is all over," a former D.C. consultant tells Radar. "It would be ironic if the anti-Hillary faction's best hope turned out to have the same problem as Bill," the consultant said."

Keep 'em coming, freespirited...if you hear any more scuttlebutt, please ping me.

Regards...Dave

The look on Webb's face says "Do I really have to do this?, I really don't like this guy." While the look on Obama's face says, "How much longer do I have to go around huggin honkies?"

Either that or Webb is saying, "You can take your thumb out of my ass any time now Barry."

I know people are trying to say they've seen a bunch of girls running around town and in the malls touting my "performance" as [uh] governor. Misconstruing this as some kind of sexual thing is just wrong. So back off ... and keep your hands off the brunette.
