Obama Would, In Fact, Govern From the Left
realclearpolitics.com ^ | July 9, 2008 | Dick Morris

Posted on 07/08/2008 9:43:23 PM PDT by Free ThinkerNY

The list of issues on which Barack Obama has flipped now that the primaries are over is long and growing rapidly.

• He says he believes in a Second Amendment right to bear arms. • He now opposes late-term abortion. • He suddenly is a devotee of using faith-based institutions to deliver public services. • He now says that he won't raise Social Security taxes on anyone making less than $250,000 a year. In the primary, he said he'd eliminate the threshold entirely, including on people making as little as $100,000. • He recently opposed the Fairness Doctrine for talk radio. • Now he says he's going to consult with the military before pulling out of Iraq.

But so extensive a list of flip-flops, all in the past few weeks, begs the basic question: Was he lying before when he was a liberal, or is he prevaricating now?

Even if Obama means what he is saying as he moves to the center trying to win the general election, the fact is that he will be forced to move very far to the left should he become president, forced by the liberals in his own party.

If Obama wins, it's more than likely that he will take office with a Congress filled with Democrats and liberals. Most probably, the Senate will have at least 55 Democrats (including pickups in Colorado, New Mexico, Virginia, New Hampshire and Alaska). And there might be as many as 62 (possible Democratic pickups include Maine, Minnesota, Oregon, Kentucky, Texas, Kansas and North Carolina). The House will, of course, be solidly in Democratic control.

Faced with the same situation in 1993, as he took office as president, Bill Clinton found no alternative but to move dramatically to the left, shelving for the moment his promises...

Obama sprints rightward to cover his bases and to secure the centrist and moderate vote, but everyone knows that his record points toward his principles being far to the Left of 70% of the American public.

As with ALL of the left, Obama is a liar.

I pray America doesn’t have to find out the hard way.

McCain, on the other hand, while pissing off the right, is at least honest about his intentions IMHO.

Like raising the capital gains tax since 50 Hedge fund managers made billions of dollars and forgeting that 100,000,000 Americans own stock. Ya Barack your a really smart guy.

Kill the economy by raising taxes. Why do you think the market is tanking ahead of the election. Investors are getting out before you have you chance to steal all of their money.

McCain is wanting to take an approach that is not receptive to the base. I will support him in as much as I believe the jurists of the Supremes are this election cycles issue.

An Obama Presidency with a willing democrat Congress could possibly destroy America.

I guess I’ll hold my nose and vote for McCain, then go outside and throw up.

Obama would faint toward the center in his governing but McLaim would unite with the left in bi-partisanship... Could be the guys behind the guys behind the guys are really in control.. and both would be on a leash..

I'm looking for and advocate, the sheeple stampedeing over the wolves.....

“I will support him in as much as I believe the jurists of the Supremes are this election cycles issue.”

A future “President McCain” will most likely be facing a Liberal-Democratic controlled Senate who approve or disapprove of federal judicial nominees. There is no way in he!! that McCain will be able to get a Conservative on any Federal bench —even if he wanted to. It’s not going to happen.

My Dad, the lifelong Democrap came up today and guess what?

He told the wife and me that he is voting for McRINO!

Now if Queen Beatch Hillary were the nominee, I KNOW he’d vote for that Socialist.

Glad to hear he won’t vote for “Milhous”.

I have seen stuff that indicated a lot of the ‘RATS can’t hold their nose for Barack the Magic Negro.

Just a little first-hand knowledge of at least ONE ‘RAT goin’ against the party and voting for McRINO ...

Interesting take on your dad’s thinking about the Empty Suit.

Can you enlighten me on the term “Milhous” concerning Obama? I’m seeing that more and more.

My formative years were when Nixon was around, so I associate “Milhous” with Nixon, as that was he middle name.

- - - - - - - - - - -

Sure.

A while back when the Conservative Talk Show guys (and ALL Conservatives) were being hammered for calling Obama by his middle name "HUSSEIN", Mark Levin shot off a list of all the GOP nominees in recent history and the common use of the media including their middle names in references during the election season. When he cited Richard "Milhous" Nixon, he immediately declared he would call Barack "Milhous" Obama from now. And he has stuck by that to this day.

We are from the same time frame, as Nixon was the first President I voted for back in '72, btw ...

He's not too worried about those on the left that will definitely vote for him or those on the right that defiantly will not vote for him. He's only worried about shaving off a few in the middle. And it just might work.

Meek, Thanks for the explanation—it makes sense now. Somehow I missed the reference from The Great One.

1972 was my first election as well—voted for Nixon too. In 2002 I got the chance to visit his Presidential Library in Yorba Linda, CA—it was an awesome place. My wife’s brother used to fix the HVAC system in his house in Upper Saddle River, NJ—no one else could, and Pat Nixon would only let him come out and work on it!

But I really want to see President’s Reagan’s library someday. I miss him. The more time passes, the more I realize what a gem he really was.

Mount Rushmore material, really. All by himself.

You bet! :^D

I think Reagan was the BEST President in the 20th century. Actually, the best ever, imho. :)

We NEED another one like him to come along. The SOONER the better, imho.

Right after he passed away, I made up THIS pic:

Not to be ugly or anything, but notice how I conveniently worked Jimmah Cahtah OUT of that pic??? (He was to Ford's left in that pic). :)

Yep! Another Reaganesque candidate would have been nice.

Instead we get Dumb & Dumber butting heads.

Let's see now. Since I've been eligible to vote (and voted EVERY year!):

1972: Nixon canned the war-wienie McGovern

1976: Ford's pardon of Nixon got us Cahtah

1980: Cahtah gets TROUNCED by Reagan

1984: Reagan re-elected BIG TIME beating Mondale

1988: Bush I gets elected, beating Ducarcus (Dukakis)

1992: Bush's "Read my lips: no new taxes" lie gets us Kringtone

1996: Kringtone beats Dole

2000: Bush beats algore

2004: Bush beats John "I served in Vietnam" Kerry

- - - - - - - - - -

Nope, I can't think of an election quite like this one. I just can't get enthused to vote for McRINO but I sure can't let the Socialist Obama get anywhere near the White House.
