Who do you want be McCain's VEEP and give reasons! I read that Romney is on the top of the list, and I'm wondering if this is true and if this is the best choice in everyone's opinion.

If its not the best choice, state why. Maybe McCain reads freerepublic (yeah right :P)

Governor Sarah Palin because I have a feeling she will be responsible with energy exploration. She is currently suing the Federal government over that environmentalist BS regarding the "Endangered Species Act" and the subsequent obstacles to America's oil exploration.

The fact that she is a Conservative with pro-life, pro-gun and pro-American values also really helps. She is attractive, intelligent and cares for a child that was born with birth defects.

I also like Governor Michael Steele because I have a feeling he will take Bill Cosby's approach to the current problems in the black community. He is against the hyphenated-American stuff, and insists that people get an education and work hard rather than blame other people for their problems.

The fact that he is a Conservative with pro-life, pro-gun and pro-American values also really helps. He is not a fan of big government "solutions," but approves of self-made success.

Sarah Palin-Female, Super pro life, seems to be for drilling and against enviro wackiness

Mike Steele-Careful, another Colin Powell/JC Watts (a black guy with an (R) next to his name doesn’t equal a conservative.) Recently joined a progressive Republican group in Maryland ( RINO in training?)

Newt-Jumped the shark long ago along with Buchannon. A brilliant sleaze.

Romney- Sure he got all the support....to STOP McCain, what choice did conservatives have? “With” McCain is another issue.

Huckabee-Still not ready for prime time, being Christian with other peoples money.

Rudy-didn’t even get the support when it was to stop McCain.... with McCain??? No way.

Crist-I hear he’s getting married...and huma is dating that NY dem guy. I believe both.

Lyndsy Graham-decent against klinton but like Bob Barr-fell off the reservation. Could be Crists maid of honor.

Lieberman-well he’s married to a woman and is good on the war. He’s way ahead of some others.

Thompson-Gerald Ford with a personality is still Gerald Ford.

Rice-see Steele

Hunter-would mean both parts of the ticket had kids that served in Iraq. Would shore up the base BIG TIME and would calm immigration critics.

Hunter or Palin for me.

My preference: Boot McCain, and run one of the following:

Sowell/Williams, Sowell/Malkin, Malkin/Williams (any of the pairs can be switched, of course).

Sowell, Williams, and Malkin would be uniting forces people could get behind. They’d be smeared to the hilt by the MSM, but if they kept communicating their message regularly to the people, like Reagan did, they could make it, IMHNTBO.

Disenfranchised women voters? Drawn to Malkin.
Disenfranchised black voters? Drawn to Williams or Sowell.

I suspect none of my three proposals would be willing to be McCain’s VP, which is why it made more sense to boot McCain as opposed to my proposals. :-)

I like Kay Bailey Hutchison. She’s more qualified than either Obama or McCain, and she is very well spoken. On most issues, she is very conservative.

I don’t think she’ll run because she wants to be governor of Texas.

I would seriously pick either Mark Sanford, Sarah Palin, or Mike Pence to be McCain’s final choice for VP. They are all true conservatives on most of the issues who would definitely help McCain get enough of conservatives more than willing to vote for McCain (or to vote against Obama, whichever way that people want to look at it). Unfortunately, each and every VP possibility will have their weaknesses and have their “skeletons in the closet”, no matter how much that people in general wish that they didn’t. Both Sanford and Palin are popular and highly respected Governors, and Pence has some past military experience, which can help during the ongoing WOT. Whoever isn’t picked for VP among this group of people can still be picked for possible cabinet positions in a McCain administration. Romney is just a “RINO” Republican who is pretending to be a conservative in order to get conservatives to like him and to support him, and this could truly lead to future problems with Romney, if McCain does decide to make Romney his final VP choice. Romney also used the Massachusetts Governor’s seat as a stepping stone for his run for the ‘08 Presidency, as Romney has been running for POTUS since a little after his second year as Massachusetts Governor. Mitt truly wants the job (now the VP position) a bit too much, and this ongoing behavior of Romney disturbs me.

Sounds good to me. You’ve got it about making the ticket attractive to women, and others have indicated that Palin would be solid regarding the energy policy issues. In addition, she’s wholesome, embodies family values, she is also young and attractive, and she has gubernatorial experience. The VP debates don’t make or break elections, but anyone Obama selects is going to look like a sadsack in a debate with her. And finally, I don’t think she is going to aggravate conservatives a bit.

McCain responds when the obaminations blathering is too much to leave quiet - otherwise, the strategy is not to interfere when the opponent is busily being his own worst enemy...let him self-destruct.

McCain should hold off his choice until Obami picks his veep.

If Obama picks Biden then McCain should go with Palin to get the disgruntled Hillary-worshiping women vote.

If Obama picks Sebelius, McCain should go with Tim Paulenty or Mark Sanford and stress masculinity and working class values. He should go directly after the votes in Pennsylvania and Virginia.

Here’s the plan McCain

Choose Sarah Palin at the convention in a surprise. Do it from the convention’s podium. Then show her on a giant screen behind him in a parka from the North Shore of Alaska. Say you chose her because she’s an energy expert and she has convinced you the US can drill safely in ANWR. Then say Palin will get right on a plane and get to the convention by tomorrow in a media frenzy. Nice gimmick?

I think McCain is saving all his powder on this one. He knows he doesn’t have to do anything until the Democratic National Convention is over. He just needs to keep reminding people who he is: a real American hero...and moving the furniture out of the way while Obama flips and flops.

McCain is the guy who went to Iraq to assess the situation before backing the surge. McCain will assess the situation on the ground after Obama’s VP choice and will choose the best response to that team. If Obama chooses a white old DC pol, look for just the type of Palin surprise you mentioned.
