Mayor Daley acknowledged today that there was a gang presence at this year's Taste of Chicago, but he insisted that Chicago Police officers were powerless to stop it.
"You come out of the L. You're a gang-banger. But, what is a gang-banger? Is [it] a kid that has pants, a hat and a shirt? He thinks he's a gang member. ... Can you see the police stopping every person coming down who looks like a gang-banger [based on] how people dress?" Daley said.

Daley is hoping to being the Olympics to Chicago in 2016. I wonder how many shootings will be OK with hizzoner then. Hey, sorry, athlete of (name of country). But it was the entire Olympics and we only had ONE person shot to death in cold blood. WELCOME TO CHICAGO!!
Daley is still vowing to fight the supreme court in declaring gun ownership to be an individual right. Daley has a gun ban in Chicago that hes very proud of--and given that there was ONLY ONE shooting, I guess he thinks it's working. Daley and his family continue to have a 24 hour a day armed police bodyguard detail, and the Mayor continues to ignore calls for him to dismiss his personal boduyguard detail and reassign them to protecting the other citizens of Chicago who are not named Daley.

Chicago is a socialist city and the UK is a socialist country. In the UK they have pretty much taken guns out of the equation as the socialist Dickie Daley would like to happen, and now stabbings are the problem. You cannot blame crime on inanimate objects like guns and knives.

Well Mayor Daley, for starters how about issuing ‘shoot to kill’ orders for anyone flashing a gang sign? If it was good enough for Chicago in 1968, it ought to work just as well now.
Daley leads a more powerful and dangerous gang than any South Side street thug could ever hope to join. If Chicago really wanted to clean up its crime, the mayor’s office would be a good place to start. Daley should spend the rest of his life in federal prison.

Most of the gang bangers would stay away if they just announced a “dress code” for the event, ahead of time. Something that looked a little silly and not macho, like “Wear a funny hat to get in free, otherwise admission is $10”.
Of course, the admission would be waved for families, if they weren’t wearing funny hats. But they could profile the heck out of gang bangers if any dared show up.
This has me very confused. This can’t be correct. How can there be shootings with the wonderful gun laws that they have in Chicago? Obviously with the gun laws in place none of these gangbangers have guns. So, this writer must have this story wrong.

I nice thought, but the progressive liberals in Chi-town would never allow such a blantant racist policy to be enacted. They would much prefer to have people shot and killed to such a biased an anti-progressive policy....

This is EASY to fix!
Pass a LAW that makes it ILLEGAL for gang members to NOT wear a badge identifying their gang affiliation, when engaged in gang-activity!
A companion LAW making it ILLEGAL to IMPERSONATE a gang member takes care of the wannabe problem!
Really, all it is is an extension of CURRENT LAWS! Chicago Cops, Building Inspectors, Fire Marshals, and so many other members of various OFFICIAL Chicago gangs already have to carry ID, and it is ALREADY ILLEGAL to impersonate them!

I was in Calgary this week and a ticker scolled across the bottom of the screen “Police warn gang members of possible retailiation”.
In America we get law enforcement preaching “Vigilatism can and will not be tolerated”.
I found that facinating. It sounded like the RCMP were saying, “look you violent scum, you’re going to experience some anonymous death in your ranks and we’re not planning to prosecute but thought we should let you know”
