SWANTON, Vt. -- The U.S. Border Patrol says an agent shot at three suspects after being assaulted near the Vermont-Quebec border early today.
The agency said the officer was interviewing the three who were on foot at about 2:15 a.m. when he was assaulted. The agent fired two shots.
A male and female suspect are in custody. The third suspect, a male, escaped back into Canada.
The Border Patrol said it doesn't know if the missing suspect was armed or if he was wounded.
Border Patrol Spokesman Mark Henry said the agent was on routine patrol when he spotted the suspects. The suspects knocked the agent down and started hitting him when he fired his weapon.
Henry said he couldn't release the names of the suspects in cusody. He did not know their nationalities.
Last summer, a Border Patrol agent in Alburgh fired his weapon at a car that had illegally entered the country after the driver tried to run him over. There have been no arrests in that case.
The Border Patrol is working with its federal, state, local, and Canadian law enforcement partners in order to locate the subject. Anyone who may have pertinent information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Border Patrol at Sector Headquarters in Swanton, Vt. The phone number is 1-800-247-2434.

It is certainly convenient that the Spokesman cannot release the names and doesn't know the nationalities. I they were the feared Amish, would that information be all over the net?
It’s also good to know that we can count on Canadian authorities to do what they can to find the suspect on their side of the border.
Ok, he did not know their Nationality, But I worked as a Police Dispatcher.

ETC ETC ETC... Lots of ways to figure out more about these folks.
Yeah, so they can have a complaining witness at the trial where they put the border patrol officer away for twenty years.

The fleeing suspect was the mayor of Toronto, he sneaks down into the US, buys guns, takes them back to Toronto, hands them out to gang members, in turn the gang members use the guns in crimes in Toronto, then the mayor gets on the TV and goes on about the gun violence problems because of US guns and how all the fancy gun control laws will stop this...

What a coincidence! You'd probably have to go to Russia or China or the Middle East to find a border where the populace of both sides vehemently hate America with equal fervor and are hyper-socialistic in their political leanings. At least we have the means to do something about Vermont.

Sounds to me as if the border patrol agents on the Canadian border need some range time!

Mexican army might try to renegotiate the deal. Peso falls with the dollar. Just speculating that smuggling was probably the reason to cross the border. Anybody not carrying contraband could just get in line and waltz across.
Which of course, leads one to believe they don’t WANT anyone to know what their nationality was-—
