I am a lurker. I really enjoy the insights and comments from this thread.
Thank you.
A friend of mine brought up the Baaken Formation once again which has to be getting harder and harder for Congress to ignore. In case some have forgotten what Baaken is start here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bakken_formation
...in this area of the western 2/3 of North Dakota:western South Dakota;and extreme eastern Montana...check This out:
The Bakken is the largest domestic oil discovery since Alaska's Prudhoe Bay, and has the potential to eliminate all American dependence on foreign oil. The Energy Information Administration (EIA)estimates it at 503 billion barrels. Even if just 10% of the oil is recoverable...at $107 a barrel, we're looking at a resource base worth more than 5.3 trillion....and it goes on.
You gotta wonder at what price will Congress act(allow drilling where the oil is) or are they all willing to be thrown out on their ears.
Fr Jonathan was very concerned with Obamas version, basically Obama takes the Faith out of the program.
Obama's version would make it illegal for them to discriminate in hiring.
Read that...you must hire gays, people who support abortion, etc.
My industry saltwater Marine/boating, fishing etc. is off about 50% and falling fast. You gotta wonder just how long and what it will take to get the Marxists away from their master plans of socialism for all.
I don’t have a ping list for this thread. I started putting it in Breaking News since we’ve had Breaking News and the sidebars (actually, this thread is older than the sidebar). The mods let me put it in Breaking News simply due to tradition (and this thread predates the moderators, too—going back to when Jim Robinson was the only moderator).
Every Sunday, simply check the Breaking News sidebar. I usually post it at 7:00 am Central time.
Of course, having a ping list might still be a good idea. Does anyone already have one?
I should have but don’t, can you still check with Phsstpok, if anyone does he may.
I know AB replied but you can also use the search function to find it. Type the word “Sunday” into the search box and it will come up for you to link to.
No idea. It took a long time to get people fired up over it now, anyway. I just want the issue to stay in voters minds as we get closer to the election.
Gotta go to work be back soon.
Well Lindsay Graham is the only Republican on the talk shows. Guess the MSM has nearly accomplished their goal of eliminating dissent. Good thing no one is home watching the TV on this holiday weekend.
Ahhhhh...our government doesn’t listen to the voice of the people...they have determined THEY are the voice.
Feeling like a masochist, I tuned in cspan this morning and heard Kathy Kiely, Washington reporter for USA Today pretend to be impartial when she talked to callers. What a hoot!
At the end she said “Even if John McCain is elected he will have a very strong Congress to stop him...”
Her inflection on the words “John McCain” was the same as if a normal person were saying “Ralph Nader” or “Bugs Bunny” — total disbelief in her voice.
McCain will “Have To Change Bush’s policy in Iraq!” according to her. So what I learned today from the few minutes that I watched her is that she considers withdrawal from Iraq to be the only sensible position for anyone to have.
On the point of attacking Iran, one caller mentioned that Democrat Presidents start wars. This ditz of a reporter argued the point (after the caller had been disconnected) by going back in her mind to various wars. She listed Reagan: Grenada and Panama; Eisenhower: sent troops to Vietnam and started the Korean War!!! and Lincoln.
Her knowledge of history in the mid-twentieth century is revolting for a National Political reporter.
She, like so many democrats, lies to herself.
The idea that Truman sent troops to Korea, and Saint Kennedy sent troops to Vietnam is too objectionable for her brain to contemplate.
The dim congress wants gas to be above $10.00 so everyone moves back into the large cities and everyone will have to rely on public transportation = more big government and dependency on big bro.
There is no way I could take Face the Nation this morning.
Frank Luntz was on F&F doing a review of campaign ads.
[LOL. First up is Obamas. BHO pulls the white grandparents out from other the bus, again. Amazing how he finds the white side of his heritage, when in need.]
Os ad is O talking about his heritage, yada yada yada.
McCains ad uses a voice-over announcer.
Luntz concludes that Os is more effective, because it uses Os voice. McCains loses effectiveness because it is the announcer, not McCain, who is presenting the text.
[Luntz, IIRC, even in the primaries, was sort of like Chris Matthews. Luntz seems to have a similar tingling down his leg every time he presented anything regarding Obama.]
0 re O’s claim that he reduced welfare rolls by 80% from Luntz on ads?
Obama to campaign in Germany. It seems apparent that the next President intends to continue the globalist policies of the current President.
McCain campaigned in Columbia.
"We are soooooo screwed!"
Technicalities. Facts, and abusing them.
Eisenhower did send troops to Vietnam, but they were advisors to assist the anti-communists there. The expansion of Vietnam was under Kennedy, then the faked Tonkin Gulf incident by Johnson that escalated it beyond anything Eisenhower envisioned.
Democrats convinced themselves Gore would win, and did it again with Kerry. Imagine how crazy they are going to be if McCain beats Obama?
Senior Arab official warns of oil price hike if Iran attacked
[and snickers that prices will rise, even if Iran is not attacked].
Luntz, AKA the “Pillsbury Doughboy”, is just one more of the tired “experts” FNC foists on us constantly. I am really sick of Bob Beckel, Dick Morris, Kirsten Powers, Franl Lutz; et.al.
COL TImothy Reese is on Cspan talking about the book the Army has written regarding their “lessons learned” on Iraq, pre-surge. Lots of rude callers, but this Colonel is extremely well spoken. I’m enjoying the segment. Have tried to get through to ask a question, but can’t get through today.
Lieberman is supporting McCain very strongly, and
making mock of Obama’s flip flops.
So far you are correct....
And, it has to be this way. As a republican form of governing, our elected officials do represent voters.
The problem is Democrats have abused their power and Republicans have squandered theirs.
Sad but true that’s why our mission has to be to get rid of socialist dems and rinos and install only conservatives.(wherever possible)
Hmmm...
None of the FNS panel are impressed with the modes and methods of the McCain campaign.
They seem McCain camp as still struggling, trying to find a message.
Assessment: McCain is his own worst enemy — jumping from issues to issue, stump to stump, because ‘McCain’ wants to on a daily basis. [McCain is trying to run a maverick campaign and it isn’t working.]
Good Morning! It has been a while!
Hey Card how have you been!!
Rodguy, the battle between left and right has been going on since the country was founded. It’s not going to change and we have to remember we are in the fight for the long term with a never ending quest of educating voters and the public.
Too many Republicans sat back and said “we won” after 1994 and the Contract With America. We didn’t remember the lessons of history and we did not follow through enough. Then we allowed our RINO class to gain more seats in congress and pass laws that were just as bad as what the Democrats had been doing.
They say McCain is running a lousy campaign and Hussein’s is brilliant. So why isn’t Hussein 20 points up in legitimate polls? Hussein also has the benefit of a drooling media who worships him 24/7 while McCain gets little coverage at all and what he gets is generally negative. All this leads me to believe the “inside ther beltway mindset” is alive and well and these folks haven’t a clue what is actually going through peoples minds in the real world.
...ummm.....Any links??
(ok...sarcasm off thingee goes in this spot..)
Good Morning! Enjoying a rare Sunday off and gearing up for game 3 of the Cubs-Cards..
Hey, good morning! How is the flying business these days?
I just know I love your sig line.
I just don't recall the Dems being so virulent leftists/socialists in the past as now. They have become scary left/wing demagogues.
Thank you. I stole it from another Freeper, with his permission.
ROTFLMAO!! GOOD ONE!
The business is terrible. Great tagline!
FNC panel is playing the VP game. Maura is pushing Al Gore (afterall, she says, many people think he was already elected President once, and by the way, he can’t win another Nobel Peace Prize [gag]); Juan says the best choise for Obama is Hillary Rodham Clinton (funny, how her middle name is fair game, but Obama’s is not); and Kristol pushing Sarah Palin as a way to energize McCain.
Next up: The good news from Iraq and how/why it is being ignored by our ever-so-distrustful main stream media.
Here is the rebuttal to O's claims, which was on this FR thread.
You can thank public education for that one, IMHO. Well, that and the utopian media who swoon over government largess. The Internet as also helped them because it gave them a means to get their message out. MoveOn comes to mind for that comment.
While Democrats slept, the far left hijacked their party.
Thanks!
