ST. LOUIS, July 5 -- Sen. Barack Obama ended a week's focus on values by giving a conference of the African Methodist Episcopal Church a highly personal account of his spiritual journey and a promise that he will make "faith-based" social service "a moral center of my administration."
The address, to one of the oldest and largest African American denominations, brought the senator from Illinois back to friendlier ground after a week's tour through Appalachian Ohio, conservative Missouri, the conservative stronghold of Colorado Springs, North Dakota and hardscrabble Montana. But in its religious tones, the address had a far wider intended audience.
"In my own life, " he said, "it's been a journey that began decades ago on the South Side of Chicago, when, working as a community organizer, helping to build struggling neighborhoods, I let Jesus Christ into my life. I learned that my sins could be redeemed and that if I placed my trust in Christ, that he could set me on the path to eternal life when I submitted myself to his will and I dedicated myself to discovering his truth and carrying out his works."

He can stand up and say whatever words he reads that his speech-writers conjured up. Mention the NAME of the King of Glory, talk about being redeemed, eternal life, the Lord's Work, Truth, 'HIS Works' ... all sounding nice -- but what do his shallow footprints show (and admittedly, they are very shallow)?
Support for abortion to a level that would make NARAL blush. How is that doing "HIS Works"?
Support for homosexual marriages. How is that loving someone by telling them it is OK to live in sin?
Attending a racist church for 20 years, and exposing his young daughters to that vile poison... This one still gets me the most. How in the world can anybody be standing for office after having been exposed as being a longtime member (and frankly any membership over 2 months would be an indictment) of a church that preached race hatred and division? A white guy would rightfully get thrown out on his ear for even considering a run for local assemblyman. Mr. Obama gets a pass because he is not melanin challenged? That is just sickening.
Now, I grant you that in the past 2 weeks, Mr. Obama might have moved away from his previous support of abortion under any circumstances, and away from his wholehearted support for homosexual marriages; and yes, he did leave the church which he was a member for 20 years ... but like the nice sounding words that he is espousing now regarding his 'faith' -- it reeks with the sincerity of someone who will say anything to win some votes ... regardless of whether he believes it or not.

Barack Obama is a co-sponsor of the “Freedom of Choice Act” (FOCA), a bill that would nullify virtually all federal and state limitations on abortion, including the types now permitted by the Supreme Court, such as parental notification laws and waiting periods. It would also make partial-birth abortion legal again.
While in the Illinois State Senate, Barack Obama voted against legislation that prohibited taxpayer dollars from being used to pay for abortion. His campaign has stated that he “does not support” the Hyde Amendment, which prohibits taxpayer funding of abortion through the Medicaid program.
Barack Obama voted to block a bill to require an abortionist to notify a parent before performing an abortion on a minor who lives in another state.
Barack Obama voted against an amendment to allow states to provide federally subsidized health care insurance for an unborn child (within the SCHIP program). The amendment would have written explicit language into the SCHIP statute to guarantee that a covered child “includes, at the option of a State, an unborn child.” The amendment further defined “unborn child” as “a member of the species homo sapiens, at any stage of development, who is carried in the womb.”
Barack Obama sharply criticized the Supreme Court for its 2007 Gonzales v. Carhart decision upholding the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act. He said, “I strongly disagree with today’s Supreme Court ruling...I am extremely concerned that this ruling will embolden state legislatures to enact further measures to restrict a woman’s right to choose, and that the conservative Supreme Court justices will look for other opportunities to erode Roe v. Wade, which is established federal law and a matter of equal rights for women.”
While a member of the Illinois State Senate, Barack Obama opposed the proposed “Born-Alive Infants Protection Act” (BAIPA). The measure was very similar to the federal BAIPA, which President Bush signed into law in 2002. Obama opposed the legislation for three straight legislative sessions and twice spoke against the bill on the Senate floor. He voted against the bill twice in committee and once on the Senate floor. Both laws were intended to provide protection for babies who survived abortions equal to protection received by babies who are spontaneously born prematurely.
Since his election to the Senate in 2004, Barack Obama has compiled a 0% voting record on prolife issues scored by the National Right to Life Committee. By contrast, he has a 100% rating from NARAL Pro-Choice America.

nobama would still be with Wright’s church if utube had not shown some of his preachings which later was picked up and shown on national tv. Only after his church’s anti-American, anti-white harrang was shown to the American public did nobama leave his church and threw wright under the bus with his grandmother.
I agree with you 100%, and this idiot thinks 20 years in that church did not affect his thinking. Yet, he thinks TWO YEARS in the senate qualify him to be POTUS. What a dofuss.
