THE HAGUE (AFP) The Netherlands will ban Iranian students from studying nuclear technology, a source of tension between Iran and world powers, at its universities, the government said Friday.
"It is forbidden... to grant Iranian nationals access to special training or teaching that could contribute to nuclear proliferation activities in Iran and the development of systems for transmitting nuclear arms," the foreign ministry said in a statement.
Some powers including the United States suspect Iran of seeking to develop a nuclear bomb. Iran insists its nuclear program is aimed at producing energy to serve a growing population.
Friday's measure adds to a Dutch decree adopting international sanctions against Iran that were put in place last year.
It bans Iranians notably from the nuclear reactor in Borssele in the southeastern Netherlands, and from a test reactor at the Delft University of Technology.
The ministry said the ban does not cover undergraduate studies up to bachelor's degree level, which are considered not to be specialised, and that it will consider requests for exceptions to be made.
Ping
I wish the West would do that to all of the Arab world. I would ban all of them from evening entering the country.
The West should go one better and make it mandatory that any Muslim male wanting to study in Western universities only be allowed in the Feminist Study programs.
There ought to be a total ban on any non-citizens from even entering a building where nuclear technology is taught.
IIRC, A Q Khan, CEO of the infamous “Khan Network” of Pakistani clandestine nuclear tech sales, got his training in the Netherlands. Or was that Denmark?
well that will certainly not happen here, between the ACLU and our current Supreme Court, their due process rights will be the issue for arguing that they should be allowed to study here.
That would have kept Einstein and his ilk, out.
:)
Wow.
What a remarkably profound connection has been made here.
I just wonder if they have made similar connections in explosives, structural engineering, biochemistry and genetics?
The world is indeed a marvelous place!
