Two hours were enough for José Luis Sánchez and his family to pack their most valuable belongings in two vans items accumulated in 10 years of living in the Dallas area.
With his wife, children and their suitcases in place, Mr. Sánchez closed the door of his Mesquite apartment for the last time, sat at the wheel of one of the vehicles his brother drove the other and hit the road back to his homeland.
So ended his decade-long adventure as an illegal Mexican immigrant in the United States.
According to Mexican consulate officials in Dallas, some 400 immigrant families have told them so far this year that they're going back to Mexico and asked for transfer documents to enroll their children in Mexican schools.
Enrique Hubbard Urrea, Mexican consul general in Dallas, said it is impossible to track every Mexican who leaves the area. But he said the number asking for transfer documents at the consulate is on the rise.
In 2005, the consulate issued 162 such documents; in 2006 it was 199; and last year it was 270. At the current rate, more than twice as many people will leave this year as last, he said.

It's a start.
I’m doing my part.....
I’m building my own fence.
No....not as a “border”!
As opposed to using “cheap labor”.
I know that’s not a big deal across America, but it is in this neighborhood.
ok, like there is now 29.5 million left stealing or resources?
This is good news, why the long faces?

hiccup/burp
I love good news!
......because we have sooooo far to go.
“some 400 immigrant families have told them so far this year that they’re going back to Mexico and asked for transfer documents to enroll their children in Mexican schools.”
Isn’t it ironic that illegals have to apply for a document from the Mexican government to GO BACK to Mexico?
Illegals are leaving under “duress”?
On average people are arriving in droves.
Ah, that missing "illegal" word again...
They came here for economic reasons, and are leaving for economic reasons. The vehicles are going with them, I noticed. Are they paid off, or are they going to default? House, credit cards? So much corruption, now coming home to roost.
“Also, he said, there is growing anti-immigrant sentiment that he would rather not experience anymore.”
Boo-hoo, effing hypocrites.
Yes, racist U.S. citizens are the spawn of the Devil. Haven't you been listening to the mainstream media?
And, he added, “The American Dream is just that a dream”.
Uh...not for Americans, Jose.
you know the US economy is bad, when the illegals are heading back to Mexico for jobs...
8^B
After they ruined the economy in the United States, they went “home” to Mexico.
It's always for more teachers. Fewer students means less money for the school district.
Increase the “duress” at least 1000 times immeiaqtly!!!!!
Likely, these fine upstanding people who were only doing the work Americans wouldn’t do will leave a few things behind, unpaid rent, unpaid van payments, unpaid DirectV bills for Para Todos, unpaid electricity bills, water bills, car insurance? (we don’t need no steenken insurance!), unpaid medical bills, unpaid advalorem taxes on vehicles — in short, anything that is owed and can be skipped out on....GOOD RIDDANCE!
Plus, this means there will be less polka music being blasted from cars parked in random areas at 3 a.m. and fewer of the resultant beer cans for people to clean up in the morning.
And if enough of 'em leave, we'll see a drop in the overall crime rate.
Adios Amigos!!!!! Don’t let the door hit ya on the way out!
We took the kids to see Wall-e yesterday. There was a preview for a movie about a bunch of Mexican kids whose big dream is to play Little League in America.
It looked like one of those cute, feel-good baseball flicks until they started showing the evil racist Texan parents screaming at the Mexican kids, and then a baseball striking a Texas-shaped decoration & knocking it upside down...It’s supposed to be a true story, but I don’t think we’ll be seeing it after all. Even Mr. Legs, who is generally pretty pro-illegal, was repulsed by it.
“On average people are arriving in droves.”
Yep, and that’s 400 families known to have left Dallas THIS YEAR. I’d guess a few thousand families have arrived in Dallas this year illegally.
As an immigrant, I can say with some authority that this is total nonsense. The statement is deliberate in it's dishonesty.

Maybe after that movie, they can come film some live footage of the all Mexican soccer teams my son plays against where all the players, parents, and coaches are yelling in Spanish, calling our boys filthy names, and are the dirtiest players around. These are not Mexico teams. They are U.S. teams in U.S. cities. Don’t think we’ll being seeing that shown by the media somehow.
any suggestions on how to speed up this process.
400 seems like an awful low number

I am also an immigrant, and like you, I also experience no anti-immigrant sentiment at all. I wish that there were more anti-illegal-immigrant sentiment. And I also don’t mind owning up to my own prejudice and saying on a public forum that all the ‘opprima il dos’ and ‘no hablo ingles’ coupled with a blatant disregard for any law that derives from their large nos. really gets my nationalistic, immigrant goat.
And where is the obligatory BARF ALERT ????
We should treat illegals in this country exactly the way illegals are treated in Mexico. They will not tolerate it at all, and neither should we.
They have the right idea when it comes to illegals ... and beer ... and tacos.

And I, too, am an immigrant...
You and I are PRO-IMMIGRATION...
The illegal aliens and their enablers are the ANTI-IMMIGRATION crowd...
It’s just a matter of sematics
Thank me
:)
Tell your Congress Critters how you feel about the continual presence of illegal aliens in our sovereign nation....
Plan to attend...
Hold Their Feet to the Fire

MY congressthing, who supports amnesty, was horrified when I told her that, right after she votes for amnesty, she will receive a bill from me for a refund of my legal expenses and the cost of plane tickets because I chose to emigrate the "right" way.
When I call a business, why does it tell me in english to press two for Spanish, then it says it in Spanish?
Gosh, that’s awful. 400 illegals have left the country.
Only about 24,999,600 to go!
Then I’d say our plan is working ...
With his wife, children and their suitcases in place, Mr. Sánchez closed the door of his Mesquite apartment for the last time, sat at the wheel of one of the vehicles his brother drove the other and hit the road back to his homeland.
The springs are about to bust on those vans
These primativos are heading back home with all that loot
They probably have hundred thousand dollars stashed away in Mexican banks and can live like kings in Mexico
I'm praying they took their anchor babies back home
This is the feel good story of the day
As if they all go throught the Mexican consulate. I’m seeing more and more every day.
Good call! Very nicely done. My representative is on my side on all issues except drilling ANWR, but mine is a sanctuary city. I also don’t care where somebody is from. What does bother me is that strength-in-numbers mentality. Don’t try to change the dominant culture by debasing it. Don’t bring the obsequious element of your language into business communications by addressing me ‘Estimada’. Don’t act as if you have a right to be here. Don’t walk around with a placard that says “If you think I’m illegal, then read the true history because I’m in my homeland.” I don’t know if the Chinese immigrants in my neighborhood are legal or not. I’ve never had a Chinese person pull into a parking space for which I’ve been waiting and then smugly declare “No hablo ingles.” I love how they adopt US customs. Run a hole in the wall, serve Chinese food, ask your customers to place their order by no. and when you’re handing over the bag, say, “Have a nice day.” At least you’re trying.
Yes, and their bedbugs too.
Proof please
They don't say anything. They are sullen. I say goodbye when I leave their restaurant and they say nothing
Got a takeout order a few nights ago.
I got no thank you
So many look straight out of Commie China
