A wax figure of Adolf Hitler had its head ripped off soon after the opening of a new branch of Madame Tussauds here on Saturday, police said.
A 41-year-old Berliner had been arrested and faced charges of causing criminal damage and bodily harm, after he hit another visitor who tried to stop him, spokesman Uwe Kozelnik said.
"He wanted to protest against Hitler's figure being on show," Kozelnik said, adding that the model had been withdrawn from display for repairs.

Sounds like der Fuehrer lost his head.
Again.
Not the first time Hitler lost his head.
Hopefully this happens each and every time they repair this monstrosity.

"You veel reespect muh authoritah !"

July 3: A wax figure of former German dictator

“He wanted to protest against Hitler’s figure being on show.”
Protest why, because he wanted to pretend the Third Reich never happend? The Krauts are going to have to learn to live with Adolf for a long long time.
I been living in Germany for 10 years now and have yet to meet a single German who wants to pretend that.
There are numerous sites that recall the horrors of Nazi Germany that he could have attacked long ago, if that was his thing.
If I had to venture a guess, then perhaps seeing Hitler in the pop culture setting of a wax museum was upsetting to him.
Maybe when you grow out of using terms like “Krauts” you will have a worthwhile suggestion for us to ponder.
Why are you supporting criminal damage?
This is a waxwork museum. It's not a shrine with an eternal flame.
I could do better...
If you do find time, do something about his shadow’s hair.
If he had been bald, he would have worn a wig.
I am just reading another story about how they had the wax Hitler in London since 1933 and it had to be protected behind glass from attacks until 2002 when bin Laden turned into the most hated figure.
I don’t know why they would be surprised that this has now happened in Berlin. Perhaps they were looking for the publicity they have now gotten.
There's a lot going on under the surface, I imagine.
I guess this guy never visited the Tussaud's in London then.
Why stop there? I am also supporting burglary, assault, disorderly conduct and theft.
Tearing Hitler's head off is a good thing. It should be done as often and as violently as possible. If the wax museum is smart, and I think they are, they will arrange to have security very lax in this area, and have lots of replacement heads waiting in the wings, so people can do this on an almost daily basis.
Why travel so far to abuse Hitler when you can do it closer to home?
BBC - A waxwork of Adolf Hitler has been brought out from behind a glass case to face the public for the first time in 60 years.
The Madame Tussaud's model was put behind glass in 1942 to protect it from attacks from members of the public.
The waxwork has been reinstated in the Grand Hall next to a model of Winston Churchill at the London tourist attraction.
The decision was taken to put it back in the open, despite visitors to the museum still regularly spitting at it.
“Maybe when you grow out of using terms like Krauts you will have a worthwhile suggestion for us to ponder. “
Well, as a German-American I think I can use “Kraut” if I want to. I know WWII Germany was just like WWII France - everyone was secretly in the Resistance. So secretly that there was hardly any evidence of it.
And when this guy’s motivation is determined if I’m wrong I’ll stand corrected. Either way a neutral deptiction of an historical figure shouldn’t be defaced. To forget the past is to be doomed to repeat it.
If you are so despondent by your perception of a lack of resistance to Nazi Germany then you should perhaps have some empathy for this man who seems to be doing exactly what you historically require from Germans (or “Krauts” or whatever other insulting term that makes you feel like a bigshot).
I think one of the best ways to deface any photograph is to draw a Hitler moustache on it. Very effective and totally hilarious!
Someone’s going to have quite a candle.
If they were smart, they make a mold for these Hitler heads, and sell tickets to customers where by they could take the head right off and give it a good squash. Say 5 pounds. Much of the wax could even be salvaged for reuse.
Survey says, yes:

All were contemporary figures (in overlapping timeframes). Mussollini wore a hat which drew attention away from his bald head.
This seems to be the new trend; if history is distasteful, alter or eliminate it.
In the long run, this is counter-productive, as people will eventually forget the distasteful details.
Austrians are the only people who can convince the world that Beethoven was an Austrian, and Hitler was a German.
Go down to Wiener Neustadt some time and walk around. They could make an SS recruiting poster there today.
The photo of Hitler I posted was taken by me at London’s Tussaud’s in May 2006. Suit’s a different color, and pose is different.
I do know that Austria was just co-host of the European Football (soccer) Championship with Switzerland.
The Austrian team was not expected to do very well and so the official Austrian tournament slogan for visitors was:
The Losers Welcome You.
