...now broadcasters worry about communicating with Spanish-speaking listeners during emergencies.
1030 AM is the only talk and information station of its kind in Charlotte.
And we were that venue. So a lot of the sorrow we feel today comes mostly from that and that link to the community was lost, Lozano said.
The community calls Aura Maria Gavilan-Posse "Charlotte's Spanish Oprah".
She too worries listeners will suffer.
We were like a 911, like a 311 and went to the people in the cold helping a lot. More than journalism or reporter we were human beings tried to help the other human beings, Gavilan-Posse said.

Let them learn english. Other countries don’t worry about foreign language speakers in their countries. If there was such a need for a spanish radio program it would still be in business. `

Real easy solution here, speak English or to put it another way, "hable inglés".

That’s easier said than done. It’s almost like those Spanish have a different word for everything.

A station on our soil licensed to use the public airwaves should be helping these good people learn a little bit of English, for the children...

"First Spanish Radio Station In Charlotte To Shut Down Broadcast After 14 Years"That's a real nice headline there. Did the reporter have a lobotomy or were they always stupid and unable to communicate?
Was it the first Spanish station in Charlotte, or was it the first Spanish station in Charlotte to close?
Let me help the idiot: "Charlotte's first Spanish Radio Station to Close After 14 Years"

After 14 Years
Great!
I've nothing against the Spanish Language.
But when it's a sign of A FREAKIN' LAWLESS INVASION...
this is GREAT NEWS.
IIRC, Charlotte, NC, had a "live and let live" policy on illegal
immigrants until a couple of years ago.
That is, until an illegal immigrant KILLED a very popular Charlotte
school-teacher and gravely injured the teacher's spouse driving
a car into the couple. When the illegal shouldn't have been
in the country in first place.
Then the law enforcement officer of Charlotte's began actually
enforcing the law on crimaliens.
Poor ILLEGAL invaders. They are facing hard times in Arizona,
Oklahoma and Missouri (that I know of).

Let me guess: very few are tuning in?
And the reason? Maybe la migra is in hot pursuit?
Going back home, ese?

It’s much worse than that; Spanish-speaking listeners might actually be learning...English. Oh the humanity! Alert La Raza immediately.

...now broadcasters worry about communicating with Spanish-speaking listeners during emergencies. And this is a problem exactly why?
If Spanish-speakers don't value their own safety enough to learn English, why should the "broadcasters" worry?
Who are the broadcasters to decide for anyone else what their priorities should be? It's bad wnough having one central nanny...
Just saying.
