Well that hasn’t helped in the past, knowing the SCOTUS would overturn most of their rulings. I wonder if the SCOTUS telegraphed a message. It almost looks as if the 9th has been turned the other way. Wow. If that were the case...
I would like to see reasoned forest logging rules across the board too.
Don’t have the slightest idea why they came up with this ruling, it’s definitely contrary to their track record. Hopefully there will be more on that in the next few days.
The first thing I did was look to see who the eleven judges were and sure enough, judge Stephen Reinhardt was not one of them. He’s a liberal old coot appointed by Jimmah Cahter that’s been overturned more than any other in the Ninth I believe.
I thought you’ld be interested in this. Don’t know what happened, it was out of the blue. For them to admit their past errors is almost unbelievable to me.
Thought you might be interested in this Brother.
Is that Ramona Ripston’s husband? I’ve forgotten his name.
Her and here husband are a real pair.

***The enviros are going to go nuts!***
The enviros ARE nuts.
The entire Sierra Nevada mountain range is one giant tinder box. I was up at one of my fave haunts last summer. The redwoods just below King’s Canyon. I was shocked. You go twenty feet off the trail and the tinder dry litter is three feet deep and bone dry. Scary.
Naaaaaaa. We’ll let the Chinese, Koreans and Indians come in and create a logging industry. Some Americans can be their peons.
That’s a shame, sorry to hear it. I haven’t been to King’s Canyon in many many years but what a beautiful place.
China's forests suck. The Russian taiga has vast forests, but they don't grow worth a darn. It's soil temperature that makes for growth. Weyerhaeuser, for example, has operations in Borneo, Indonesia, South America, and Europe, with old growth operations primarily in Canada. Interestingly, it's giant sequoia that's being grown in Scotland, Morocco, and Germany.
The stuff in Washington is just about ready to hit again. They'll want a good price for it and don't want the National Forests to dilute the market.
I have lived in a log home for 13 years. I have since wrapped and stuccoed the exterior and plastered half of the interior. The bugs and weather were fast destroying the exterior ... the logs inside are an incredible dust magnet that have to be brush-vacumed twice a year and also since they reflect near zero light the place was dark and dreary even though we cut in more windows and large french doors.
Additionally log construction is very labor intensive and expensive. A 2 x 6 framed wall is cheaper, almost as strong, better insulating and keeps the bugs out. The logs will check and split and make easy entrance for all kinds of six legged and crawling friends to come live with you.
Log homes are ‘artistic’ and sexy to look at. They also suck.
You bet, Smooth. You and the Mrs. have a great Fourth today at the VFW.
“One possibility is that the smoke helped improve their vision,”
Great quote ... I worked with Mark Rey years ago and he is one terrific person, as were most of the forest industry guys. I am just delighted for them. This is looooooong overdue.
The hypocrisy of this enviro is astounding. Question a scientist or politician on the GW dogma and you'll be called akin to a holocaust denier.
You’re exactly right, this Rohlf is a real number. A law professor teaching future attorneys all the tricks of the environut trade.
Enviromental attorney has become a big thing at several law schools here in the NW. Over twenty years ago a professor of my son asked him to go to a round table type thing at UO for prospective law students. He didn’t want to be an attorney but he went.
At his table of 12 to 15 people he said at least half wanted to be enviro attorneys, said they all wanted to make the world a better place. LOL!
“Top federal judges clear path for more logging (Amazing ruling for 9th Circuit)”
Wow, I can hardly believe it. Surely hell is freezing over.
Hah! I couldn’t hardly believe my eyes when I stumbled on this story yesterday evening.
It still hasn’t been widely printed, AP put out a blurb on it but not many papers have picked it up yet. Don’t know if they wanted to keep under the radar or not, this Fourth of July weekend probably has something to do with it.
