You can bet that Reagan Democrats are also alarmed about each and every one of those rulings. There is great hay to be made out of this in Oct/Nov.

So?

I made a donation to the NRA-ILA last night for exactly this purpose. Money well spent.

Wouldn't that be a way to shoot off one's, er, parts?

No, that is the way that the great John Moses Browning designed the weapon to be carried. The way that it has been carried, safely by competent users, for over 97 years since it was developed in 1911. The way that I carry mine everyday.

Trivia factoid: Where did the term "redneck" come from?

It came from a confrontation many years ago in the coal fields of West Virginia, when miners seeking to unionize unsafe, underpaying coal boss thugs took up arms and marched across WV to either convince the bastards to shape up or to shoot them. There was a tremendous battle, with many on both sides getting shot. Ultimately, the President sent in US troops to stop the battle. All the coal miners tied red bandanas around their necks so they wouldn't shoot each other, hence they were known as the red necks.

YOU BETCHA, RED RIDER!

The recent Supreme Court ruling striking down a ban on handgun
ownership in Washington, D.C., touched off a maelstrom of
negative media reports about how the ruling would lead to
more gun violence.

Really?

The 32-year ban on handguns in our Nation’s Capital was one
of the strictest, yet the District has been widely labeled
“the murder capital of the country”. Why didn’t the media analyze that?

For the full Culture and Media Institute report:

http://www.mrcaction.org/r.asp?U=8733&RID=17088988

Just after the ruling, The N.Y. Times used a misleading statistic
to bolster their argument.

“Thirty-thousand Americans are killed by guns every year —
on the job, walking to school, at the shopping mall. The
Supreme Court on Thursday all but ensured that even more
Americans will die senselessly with its wrongheaded and
dangerous ruling striking down key parts of the District
of Columbia’s gun-control law.”

The Times failed to mention that nearly half of the 30,000 deaths are
suicides. The paper also didn’t look at how many of those homicides
were the result of self-defense.

Instead, the Times, like its liberal network counterparts, lamented
that the “far-right” court got it wrong, setting the stage for more
violence and death.

...Illinois and Wisconsin do not recognize it or allow concealed or open carry in any form...

I'm not sure about Illinois but as far as I know, open carry is legal in Wisconsin. Carrying in urban areas may well be a theoretical concept as I suspect that the local heat would find something to tag you for (public nuisance, creating a disturbance, disorderly conduct, &c.). But we are very big on Deer hunting and have six or seven hundred thousand armed hunters in the woods every fall. We also have special seasons for handgun, black powder, bow and arrow and sometimes extra seasons are sanctioned by the DNR to cull the herd in selected areas with overpopulation problems.

The shooting by the Hmong hunter from Minnesota is not at all typical of the hunt. Most years there are more heart attack deaths then firearm related fatalities. In a group of 3/4 million armed hunters the accident rate is as near zero as one has any right to expect.

Having said that we also have duck, goose, turkey, pheasant, grouse, small game, &c., &c. seasons. Hunting is a large part of the Wisconsin economy. In retrospect, Illinois also enjoys a wide spectrum of outdoor activities once you leave the urban cesspit's in your rear-view mirror. I suspect that open carry is accepted in much of that state as well.

Regards,
GtG

PS We have tried twice for CCW, only to have "Diamond" Jim Doyle veto it both times. First try we were two votes shy of overturning his veto. The second time we were one vote shy! Third time will pay all!

“Where did the term “redneck” come from?====================================================
I had always heard (and associated) it with the sunburn one gets from ‘stoop labor’ where mostly the back of the neck and the arms get burnt while the rest of the body remains bar room white.????
Either explanation fits as they were both ‘hard working, hard playing groups’......

Cocked and locked is a term that describes carrying a Colt Model 1911 pistol cocked (obvious from the first word) and locked or with the safety on. A properly maintained gun won't fire with the safety on, so it's a fairly safe way to carry the gun IF you know how to handle the firearm properly.

It's pretty eye catching to see someone with a cocked pistol on their hip, which is why I say liberals would get their knickers in a twist over it. They tend to be histrionic anyway; guns really get their juices flowing.

I hate the Nazi b@st@rds that deprive us of our rights as much as any one. The Supreme Court ruling means that those little tin horn dictators don’t have a choice now. Google Title 18 Section 241 / 242 (do the numbers separately - they’re separate sections of the US Code). If they deprive anyone in their state of their civil rights, they can be fined and go to jail.

I live in Illinois, no CCW Licenses issued. "They", in this case, is the Illinois Legislature and Governor. Who charges them? Who arrests them? Maybe a civil case but I sure don't have the kind of money to do that. I'm willing to contribute to any one wanting to give it a shot though.
