BTW...and a hearty congratulations to El Rushbo, the dominant political force of OUR generation, bar none...Dave
...and al franken has been put on suicide watch...
LOl. Fox and Friends had some lib talk show guy on this morning just trashing the crap out of Rush and his listeners. LOL. Now I know why that guy was on the show today.
Good for Rush and good for the country!
For those in Rio Linda , the way you can tell Rush is worth 400 million , is that somebody is willing to pay 400 million .
Pshaw, only 50 million a year.
Good for Rush...and they can take that Fairness Doctrine crap and shove it up their lib faces.
Its amazing that after 20 years, they still don’t get it. The reason that liberal talk radio is an absolute failure is because they have NO sense of humor. Its nothing but anger and envy.
You could hear the envy in that guys voice. He couldn’t carry Rush’s cigar cutter.
several threads on this subject already exist
I can remember when that was a lot of money .
I’m sorry. I like Rush, but this salary is obscene.
Yes, but this is the only one that has 2039767 in the URL. :O)
It's not obscene to those who are paying him it, and that's what matters.
Dittos to El Rushbo.
by the way, this ought to tick savage off a bit.
No more obscene than pro athletes who contribute less to society as a whole.
If someone is willing to pay...
Hubba Hubba Dooba Dooba!
Well deserved, Rush. Well deserved.
20 year dittoes!
If so, please ignore this thread...Dave
As a rough guide - if they are paying him X a year, they expect to make at least 2X a year, or X a year in profit, from his services.
The free market never gets this stuff wrong (or never gets it wrong twice anyway)
Where does it say in the rule book that you get to decide what qualifies as obscene?
I see from your profile that you're an MD ... so what if someone else was to call you out on how much you make.
judgement and envy don't become you niko, give 'em up.
I was thinking of the...other end...
1. It isn’t salary, it’s a business contract. I imagine Rush has to cover expenses. For example, who pays for the call screeners and Bo Snerdley?
2. Even if he takes the lion’s share of this, so what? Someone’s willing to pay him. Ain’t capitalism grand?
3. My main worry, though, is that continued living in the stratosphere will reduce his interconnect with us normal-salaried Joes, and this make him less effective. This has already taken place.
That, and this leaves him more open to natural human foibles that go with having lots, LOTS of excess cash lying around. That’s already happened, too.
But I think this is roughly equivalent to what he’s already been making, so I guess we can just expect more of the type of show we’ve been getting for the last 4 years: Decent commentary, interrupted by tales of conspicuous consumption. Sort of like what Forbes Magazine used to be like....
FREE ENTERPRISE SALUTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not to mention that lib radio spends a lot of time trashing American business, which is where advertising revenue comes from, which is what funds the show. They're that stupid. They don't understand why businesses won't subsidize slander against themselves.
Probably because it's going in his pocket, not yours...
Though to your credit, you did get two parts of your sentence right.
Thanks...Dave
I wonder how much windfall profit tax he will get nailed with...lol
Who are you to say what is obscene? Rush is being paid his fair market value. I'm being paid my fair market value. You're being paid your fair market value. If you were worth $50M a year to do what you do, then that's what you would be paid.
WOO-HOO!!! Congrats, Maha Rushie!
If the GOP completely implodes this fall, Rush Limbaugh will become even larger. I suspect that is what Premiere is banking on.
Yep, this is the free market at work.
I know radio stations live and die by their ratings. He’s a phenomenal (sp?) presence. He’s on 600 radio stations. You could drive coast to coast and always be within earshot of a station carrying Rush.
So if he didn’t get the ratings, and didn’t help the ratings of all the local stations, and make money for them, there’s no way he would command so much money in a free market.
What should be done about it, and by whom? Or are you just whining pointlessly?
He can afford now to send all his loyal listeners an IPhone or a couple ABSteaks....something.....anything...LOL I’ll take the Ramaii water tank...or the adjustable bed.....
“BTW...and a hearty congratulations to El Rushbo, the dominant political force of OUR generation, bar none...Dave”
I’d add “and underpaid, at that”.
This is a major investment on their part in Rush and conservative talk radio. With talk of the fairness doctrine coming back, this is a big vote of confidence in the future of talk radio being positive.
It was pretty bad I must agree. Liberals are so filled with hate and the REALLY hate Rush.
God bless capitalism. :)
May the fairness doctrine never return.
I may think that the amount of money he gets is way more than he “needs.” But, that’s not for me or the government to decide. It’s for the market to decide, and the market has spoken. Same with whatever salary Alex Rodriguez makes for the Yankees, and whatever salary C. C. Sabathia will get as a free agent (when, sadly, he no longer wears Chief Wahoo on his lid).
By the way, I love your tagline. You are absolutely correct in the observation that the first black President needs to be Jackie Robinson, and Barack Obama is no Jackie Robinson.
Since you’re not paying his salary your opinion doesn’t matter. :)
I cannot wait to see the DUmmies at the DUmp’s heads explode in WHAT THE F IS THIS COUNTRY COMING TO tirades.
PJ has an easy job tomorrow.
He knew he went over the line and yet he kept on talking hate. I hope he is never invited back...Rush is a friend to the Friends.
I’m jealous....OKay? I admit it... Y’all quit jumping on me! :-)
The free market has spoken:
Limbaugh = $400 million
Air American = bankruptcy
Don’t worry, President Obama and the dimocrat congress will re-vive the “fairness doctrine” and get Rush knocked off the air.
$2.50 per listener...$50 Million a year, for the next 8 years...Nice work if you can get it!@ :o)
I can’t comprehend spending $5 million a year on personal wants and needs...when one already owns a McMansion, with all the creature comforts.
I’d love to hear that he put in a large Solar Panel array, using the new nanowire tech, and a couple of vertical wind towers, and went “off the grid”... not so much to be an eco-nut, but to be energy indepedant, and “electrtical bill free”. So that when that contract runs out, the panels and the turbines will have allready paid back more than half of their installation costs.
Was watching a show, where they profiled Larry Hagmans(?) house, and he’s got a setup, like I’ve described, and he says he went from a $36,000 annual electric bill, to a $13 bill, aned that was basically administrative and clerical costs, as he not only got all his electricity from his own system, but subsidized 5 othert homes, and sold his surplus above and beyond, to his local power company....Of course, living on the california coast, doesn’t hurt as far as having lots of sun and wind. :o)
what are you....a commie?
That’s because indulging in all their perverted cravings, make Liberals stupid, as well as cowards and traitors.
Rock On, RUSH!
