Zimbabwe's once proud white farming community is facing extinction, as President Robert Mugabe steps up his campaign of violence and intimidation on all fronts. Virtually all of the remaining 280 white farmers have been invaded by government supporters since Mr Mugabe lost the first round of the presidential election in March.

If your family has farmed the land for generations, it is hard to leave, even when you know that the beast has you in his sights. Also when everything you own is tied up in the land and no one can/will buy you out, what choices do you have?

Make all these farmers permanent U.S. residents. With corn, wheat & soybean prices, the way they are, we could use their immense talent.
In the irony of ironies I read of an exhibition in Leeds, England at the University there. Titled "Student Protest in Leeds, May-June 1968". It recalls "four days of student protest that shook the University". This included a Conservative member of parliament and his wife. He addressed the student union in defending Ian Smith and his white regime in the then Rhodesia.
He was spat on and his wife knocked to the floor. A big poo-bah was the President of the Student Union, Jack Straw.The students closed down the administrative building- until four days later the darlings realised it was the summer holidays just up. Well to the fore was this Jack Straw. Tub thumping and being cheered for his support of a "free" Rhodesia (Zimbabwe). Today this man is titled "Lord Chancellor Secretary of State for Justice". This is the Labour government
How ironic? Meanwhile the former students of 1968,no doubt live in safety and comfort, stuffing their fat faces. Toddling of to the local pub etc.

And he has always been reluctant to criticize Mugabe. Besides crime in South Africa, particularly in Johannesburg, Durban & Port Elizabeth, is out of control.

It’s funny how it always seems to work, isn’t it? A crowd of fools who happens to scream loudly enough at something gets a complete pass because they “thought” they were doing the right thing. All their intolerance, all their violence, and all their barbarism is over-looked, all buried beneath a clock of guilt and the call of racism.
The results are never really as important as the intentions.
It’s really tough to have sympathy for any civilized human being who didn’t long ago clear out of that toilet, Zimbabwe (formerly known as beautiful Rhodesia, the “breadbasket of Africa” - - good work, liberals).
For some reason the beans do not grow no matter how many human blood sacrifices they make.
According to them, the evil white farmers must have been using some very powerful magic to make their crops grow so well.
Electrical power is a nightmare with daily power failures. Generators are in huge demand. The electrical company, ESCOM (government owned), is antiquated and cannot cope with the demand.
People live in fortresses, with the police utterly powerless. Security companies provide armed response and guarantee 3 minute response. The police are under-paid, under-manned, poorly trained and out-gunned.
2012? We may have to rethink that.

It's about the credulity and stubborn stupidity of their Western enablers to cast it into terms that had everything to do with ideology and nothing whatever to do with fact. It's about two-bit academic fools fantasizing textbook rectitude while the landscape was being spattered with the blood of the innocent. It's about the complete and utter failure of international organizations to deal with a situation that falsified their world view. It's about idiots claiming social justice while children starve. It is everything that is wrong with Africa, with Europe, with the UN. That's what it's about.

My family came to America in 1730,after my stint in the service I went to Rhodesia to join their fight,we lost thanks to the un and jimma.I came back home with my new wife who is now a proud freedom loving US citizen.

Indeed. It’s gone the way of South Africa, which had more murders than the United States, even though we have five times more people.
I'm not, but I cry for what is happening there, too. If it was your country of birth, it would be even more horrible.
