The King of Amnesty is dead. On tuesday, Team America candidate Jason Chaffetz defeated La Raza Republican Chris Cannon by over twenty points! Team America raised over $25,000 for Jason who used the money to make it clear to the voters of Utah that he stood for securing the borders and enforcing our laws, while Cannon stood for amnesty.
Chris Cannon has long been one of our top targets. Hes sponsored over half a dozen amnesty bills, and has won awards from MALDEF and La Raza for his pro-amnestyrecord. We supported his challengers in 2004 and 2006, but they were both weak. He managed to squeak by at the last minute by posing as a restrictionist. He was up to his old tricks again this year--running ads saying, Cannon wants to replace 'catch and release' with 'catch and deport.'" But as Honest Abe said, you cant fool all the people all the time and Jason Chaffetz was able to stand strong. He told the voters, that Chris Cannon gets tough on immigration about two weeks before an election. That's it." The voters listened, and they sent Chris Cannon packing.

This is good news, indeed. We need a few more primary defeats for open-borders Republicans.
Some good news for the Conservatives this week...add this to the gun ban ruling and it has been a decent week in a decade of pure hell.
Could it be the start of a nation wide trend?
Every congresscritter and senator who voted for amnesty needs to suffer the same fate. Too bad we can’t vote against both McCain and Obama, since they are both amnesty pimps.
I can remember when many FReepers were standing with Chris Cannon and his less than stellar record on immigration reform.
Thanks to Tom Tancredo and Bay Buchanan, the chickens have come home to roost.
Congrats to Jason Chaffetz. Live long and prosper.
Will we hold this district in the general election? That is the question.
Great news! One down....
One more down.
There is no doubt that the GOP will hold this district, which has voted overwhelmingly for Republicans since its creation.
Of course. The district is a lock for republicans.
Good, thanks.
A veritable tsunami of cash!
This is a Republican only seat. Dems will put up a token candidate but with no money.
Congratluations and may there be many more to follow.
bttt
Enough to defeat illegal-lover Chris Cannon and thus win the seat for Jason Chaffetz.
Cannon was once described as Bush's "go-to guy" among House republicans to push amnesty.
It's unfortunate that both of them can't lose since both certainly deserve to. We are screwed, and Soros et.al., is a winner no matter which of the two is elected.
“I can remember when many FReepers were standing with Cannon”
Heh heh, Reagan Man,
That was before the Freeper Mortage Pushers brigade ran out of money which caused the Freeper Property Flippers battalion to start looking at illegals as job competion, instead of cheap labor.
I think he looks a bit like John Sununu (sr).
Good one.
Really? how delicious!! HEY KARL ROVE, PAYING ATTENTION?
“Too bad we cant vote against both McCain and Obama, since they are both amnesty pimps”
Oh contraire my friend. You can vote American Independent/Constitution Party or Bob Barr. Don’t WASTE your vote for the same two parties that continue to give their employers the middle finger.
Whatcha wanna bet that Terry leads off the show Sunday night with this.
Not quite so. Cannon beat a Dem incumbent, Bill Orton, who lost in '96 because of the overwhelming anger by district residents at Clinton for locking up the Grand Staircase/Escalante area on the orders of the Riady Family. Can't have any of that top grade, clean-burning coal that was all over that area, especially when the profits and competition would harm Clinton's favorite Indonesian patrons. How come Orton won (by a 58-36% margin and being massively outspent !) in 1990 in one of the most Republican seats in the nation ? Because the GOP had a brutal primary race and half the supporters of John Harmer (the former Lt Governor of California and a Bircher) refused to support Karl Snow, the winner of the primary who was backed by the outgoing incumbent. Snow, unfortunately, was also a damaged nominee even without Harmer in the picture (supported high taxes and had business links to a convicted stock manipulator).
Thanks for the ping! Great news!!
America.....uh....Heck Yeah! (that was close)
I can and will vote against both McCain and Obama. Most likely I will write in Duncan Hunter.
Now this is great news. Excellent.
So Cannon shot off his mouth one too many times for crimmigrants... good.
A safe bet I would imagine. I'll be listening to find out.
It happens all the time .. run a good strong conservative who’s not afraid to tell the truth .. and you can win in a landslide.
You can vote against both Obama and McCain. You can always vote for Ralph Nader, at least you know what you are getting and Ralph was NEVER a US Senator.
