Key Iraqi al-Qaeda figure 'dead'

The US military in Iraq says a militant killed on Tuesday has been positively identified as the leader of al-Qaeda in the city of Mosul.
It said the man - identified by a pseudonym, Abu Khalaf - had co-ordinated and ordered many attacks.
He was shot dead by American troops during a raid on a building in Mosul.
US and Iraqi forces have been carrying out an offensive in the city for more than a month, in an attempt to drive out al-Qaeda in Iraq from Mosul.
The city, US and Iraqi officials say, is al-Qaeda's last urban stronghold in Iraq.

Shot dead?! It's an outrage. This noble freedom fighter should have been brought to the USA (for a trial, wink-wink), placed in a suite in Hilton or Marriott, given taxpayer-paid lawyers and granted TV interviews to explain the suffering he is enduring at hands of oppressors.

I am sure they read him his Miranda Rights. After all we would not want to piss off any liberals over this.
To bad the freedom fighter resisted. So sad. I will think of him as I imbibe in my adult beverage tonight, especially when I have to relieve myself. Good riddance to both, in the toilet and into hell.

Now we have to worry about this guy’s estate filing suit over violated civil rights. Obama would support that, and I’m pretty sure 4 justices on the SCOTUS would support it.

Perhaps we should start engraving ammunition with Miranda. Just to be safe.

I am sure they read him his Miranda Rights. After all we would not want to piss off any liberals over this. You surely realize that this would not be practical.
A better solution would be to pass a law requiring that the Miranda Rights verbiage should be imprinted on all U.S. military bullets, rockets, missiles and other weapons that might come in contact with an enemy in what would be considered a potentially lethal way. In the case of a bullet at least this would provide proof that the victim was properly (and promptly) advised of his rights.

He was shot dead by American troops during a raid on a building in Mosul. A few weeks back AP had a story about a particularly nasty war lord type in Somalia had been deep sixed by what was thought to be American forces. The last paragraph, in quintessential liberal mindset, went on to say 'experts' agreed it would only make his followers more angry. Half expected to hear, or read, the same drivel in this Mosul bulletin.

I think it’s too bad he was shot dead. I bet that he had lots of intelligence we could have used.
I certainly don’t mind one tiny bit that he is getting his 72 virgins (more realistically pit fiends in hell) but the timing should have been about 48 hours later. After he had time to spill his guts.

i can’t figure out why Al Queda is a factor in Mosul. That’s Kurdish territory and of all the Iraqis, the Kurds love us best.
Hard to explain why Al Queda should still be active there.

Couple more months and the Mosul region just may be declared free from AQI influence. Wonder where those that can still flee will go this time around. Iraq is becoming tight as a drum. And if they try to set up holding areas in more desolated low population areas, they will even more so stick out like a sore thumb.

Very nice.
I really do believe that this would be an effective scheme. Surely the Dems could not object to such a "sure fire" method of delivering "Miranda Rights". LOL
To: elhombrelibre
It could be the case. If we don't see any series of AQI sponsored attacks during the upcoming general election, it just may have reached a point where AQI is truly done for.
But then again. Even if such attacks to get the headliners back did occur it may simply be a few dozen hold outs that live in holes in the wall waiting for one final chance to influence the American voters.
Likewise groups such as Al Ansar Islam and other fanatical radical Sunni groups at this point have to watch their backs. The government forces will go after them big time if they raise their crummy heads. I realize the group just mentioned is in with AQI big time, but once AQI from a control standpoint is through, the appendages can not stand on their own feet and effect any change to their liking.
With the fat slob hiding in Iran, and losing his footing within the Mahdi militia, at this point, it appears there are no single entities remaining that will cause any major recession in the current progress being made.
Maliki probably is growing stronger to the point no significant political party can speak ill of him. He has managed this SASO in a fair minded way and obviously with effective results.
Lastly. It may be safe to say more Iraqi are now thinking about the social and living standards most of them can gain, once the oil/gas industry gets in bed with the big oil companies.
Why would they want to screw the pouch at this point. A better future for many of them is literally on the horizon, and in some cases now being realized.
As usual. My ravings are not meant to preach but to share thoughts many of us probably are tuned in on and in agreement on to some degree.
