The number of young homosexual men being newly diagnosed with HIV infection is rising by 12 percent a year, with the steepest upward trend in young black men, according to a new report.
The double-digit increase in young gay men is about 10 times higher than in the homosexual community overall, where the number of new infections is going up about 1.5 percent a year.
The report, released yesterday by the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, appears to confirm impressions that a "second-wave" AIDS epidemic is underway in gay America.

Kind of reminds me of the story Victor Borge used to tell about his uncle who invented the cure for which there was no disease.
Believe me many homosexual activists believe to their dying breaths that Republicans are responsible for the AIDs epidemic. The ironic thing is that this epidemic is virtually the only one almost strictly confined to one element of the general population. I still see and read statements by gay activists blaming Reagan for the epidemic. This was even after the early 80s when most people knew that unprotected anal intercourse practiced by male homosexuals was responsible for about 97% of the spread.

Especially when you consider the taxpayer is likely footing the bill for those pills.
Instead of trying to “cure” AIDS, wouldn’t all the billions of dollare be much more wisely spent trying to find a way to speed up the virus? After all, if we could find a way to speed up the time from infection to burial to 3 months, wouldn’t AIDS just burn itself out?
Dialing Jeremiah Wright and Hussein Obama, those dastardly white folks are targeting blacks again sending AIDS into their neighborhoods.

That’s a lot of money per person for eash AIDS case. It’s a shame they can’t find a much cheaper solution to the problem. If there was only an inexpensive way to prevent HIV, that would free up a huge amount of money for breast cancer, Alzheimers, and numerous other problems that cannot be prevented easily. We should put the best minds in Congress on that task and see how long it takes them to find a cheap and reliable way to prevent AIDS from spreading. Then they re-allocate most of the funding to non-preventable diseases and save more lives.
Isn’t reporting this an act of discrimination? Shouldn’t the writer and publisher be brought before a human rights tribunal?
Gays have a right to contribute to the blood supply, just like anyone else (transfusions are the only way she'd be infected).
The MSM led the charge in blaming Reagan for AIDS. Elizabeth Glaser , (now deceased wife David Glaser of Starsky & Hutch “fame”), blamed Reagan for the death of her children. Shameless. Sad. A preventable disease and so much publicity, gov. $ about how to prevent it. I have sympathy for a teenager who doesn’t know any better but anyone over the age of 18 no sympathy. The black community needs to acknowledge that there are homosexuals in their community instead of blaming AIDS on a white plot like Obama’s favorite Rev. Maybe then more homosexual blacks would use condoms.
The $ spent on this disease are politically motivated, lets spend more $ on cancer and heart disease, as those diseases cannot be prevented by wearing a condom.
I remember living in SF and even the gay activists fought those who wouldn’t close the bathhouses....too many died young because of political correctness.

When the government subsidizes the consequences of a behavior, people engage in the behavior more or more recklessly.
It’s the central dilemna of all public health care policies. Is it possible to fund health care in such a way that it doesn’t increase social pathologies?
When charity was private, those doling it out could (theoretically) restrict grants based on probable outcomes. That said, there’s probably been no greater beneficiary of private charity and fundraising in history than AIDS.
Imagine that...they come up with a way to keep HIV pos. people alive longer and the behaviors increase.
Went to the Dr. this week for a cold. While I'm there she mentions that the fastest, broadest spread of HIV in the DC area is among heterosexual couples.
I wonder if that isn't because of so-called "straight" men diddling on the side with their gay lovers.

Sounds plausible. Remember, if the number of infected people goes from 2 to 4, that is a 100% increase.
