The Greenest Show on Earth: Democrats Gear Up for Denver From Organic Fanny Packs to 'Pure' Trash, Party Planners Face Logistical Nightmare By STEPHANIE SIMON June 25, 2008; Page A1 DENVER -- As the Mile High City gears up to host a Democratic bash for 50,000, organizers are discovering the perils of trying to stage a political spectacle that's also politically correct. Consider the fanny packs. With biodegradable balloons and organic snacks, Denver Democrats hope to stage the "greenest convention" ever. See examples. The host committee for the Democratic National Convention wanted 15,000 fanny packs for volunteers. But they had to be made of organic cotton. By unionized labor. In the USA.

I bet it would be hard to find a large order of fried chicken gizzards anywhere around the joint.

Chicken Gizzards with a dash of hot sauce - finger food for when I’m driving.

An official “carbon advisor” was hired.

Also, no fried foods.

“To test whether celebratory balloons advertised as biodegradable actually will decompose, Ms. Robinson buried samples in a steaming compost heap. She hired an Official Carbon Adviser, who will measure the greenhouse-gas emissions of every placard, every plane trip, every appetizer prepared and every coffee cup tossed. The Democrats hope to pay penance for those emissions by investing in renewable energy projects.”

This is going to be so much fun to watch....too bad Hillary won't be a major player to stir things up.

I pity the citizens of Denver (at least the few conservatives who live there).

“Decked out in (brown) shirts, 900 volunteers will hover at waste-disposal stations to make sure delegates put each scrap of trash in the proper bin. Lest a fork slip into the wrong container unnoticed, volunteers will paw through every bag before it is hauled away.”

Trash Nazis, LOL!

organic snacks

Always puzzles me how there can be any distinction between "organic" food and its so-called nemesis "inorganic food" .... ALL food is organic in one sense or another, unless one eats rocks only for nutrition, then it would be "mineralic" or whatever.

What pure nonsense, to corrupt use of the word "organic" to mean only food that is elitist. PC run amok again.

Yeah, this will sell well to the tired, pissed off parent who comes home and is trying to figure out how to feed their kids something filling because they just spent too much of their food budget to pay for the $4.50 a gallon gas they need to get to work, then tunes in to this psychotic farce to listen to this gaggle of matriarchal social engineers tell them that 'drilling is not the answer' and they'll have to submit to The Nanny State's will if they want a mind-numbed delusion of a comfortable existence.

My self-control is reaching critical mass.

“Coors Conflict

But it’s almost inevitable that principles, politics and profit will conflict. To wit: Coors Brewing Co., in Golden, Colo., will donate biofuel made from beer waste to power the convention’s fleet of flex-fuel vehicles. A green star for the convention — but it has rankled die-hard liberals, who boycotted Coors in the 1960s and ‘70s to protest hiring practices that they said discriminated against blacks, Latinos, women and gays. Heirs to the Coors fortune have long been active in conservative causes and Republican politics.

Convention officials say Coors is a good corporate citizen. And a Coors spokeswoman says the donation was a gesture of civic pride, not politics.”

That's easy for a liberal.

At the risk of helping them with their cause, I would recommend "Fiji bottled water", only allowed female delegates to be single and pregnant, they ALL (no matter where they reside) walk or jog to get there without help of EVIL fossil fuels (crawl if they can't walk for the cause....) take a bike but stay off of evil oil generated bituminous roads and maintain a steady diet of alfalfa sprouts for sustenance.

Please don't show this to a liberal to give them any idea's.

I hate organic food. My wife keeps putting “organic” this and “organic” that on the shopping list. I refuse to buy it. It takes more acreage to produce the same amount of food, resulting in starvation for the poorest people in the world, and is vastly more expensive than modern farming, yields a product that is smaller, less attractive, more perishable, and doesn’t taste as good. All at an increased shelf cost of 20-70%, (only 30% of which I’m guessing can be production-related expense—everything else is the same), in return for NO BENEFIT WHATSOEVER, except for making her feel like she’s some kind of Superior Being for being “or-GAN-ic!”. It’s as big a fraud as Global Warming, and I refuse to go along with it.

Grrrrrrr....

"Director of Greening"..."official carbon advisor”

Hilarious...at first.

And then you realize: If obamama get's into the WH, these new positions will be coming to your town in the not to distant future.

After all, the obamama has already warned us: "You can't eat as much as you want to."

So will he tell us. not only how much we can eat, but WHAT we can eat?

I do believe that would perfectly reasonable in the minds of these totalitarians.

AN UNRELATED STORY: I was at my dentist. The dental assistant says, “My daughter is painting her room green.” I asked why, and she said something about the planet. I shook my head and said, “Don't let them brainwash your child.”

I was at a mall. The kids made huge paper globes. One globe had signs on it saying, “NO HUNTING” and “NO FISHING.”

What are they teaching the children?

Global Warming™, and its subsidiary Climate Change™ are also based on a corruption of language which pits all life forms against that dreaded awful poison: CARBON !!!

Well, here is some awful news for all those anti-carbon purveyors on late night television and all over the internet: Carbon, if you haven't heard, is the basis for ALL forms of life! Yessiree, add a bit of Carbon to some other stuff, mix well, ask for God's help, and voila! .... LIFE. Ain't that amazing?

And, just like the circus that the convention will surely be, there will be those suckers (born every minute) clamoring to be a part of the show. Pray that their defeat will be so overwhelming that the Dems will never again give the American voters the worst candidates/candidate in the history of our republic. A woman President?
